"It may be now but its not fun, a cowboys work is never done" "today the pits, tomorrow the wrinkles, sunshine marches on" "the lone ranger rides a way" How about that for a finale ? Either I can work for SARGE or I can see if I have any luck in Hollywood..... |

Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
Now HERE is someone who knows whats what and has a little bit of this that and the other thing too !
http://www.kencole.org/FlashFire.htm Picture the situation I was in, with a religious fanatic family. As a young child I was dragged into church and forced to endure one repetition after another of songs literally drenched in blood and self abuse. Is it any wonder that in self defense I began to recite limericks, ditties and anything else I could think of to block out the torrent ? Within a few years I became adept at multitrack tune recall. All these years the psychologists have been asking "do you hear voices ?" Absolutely not idiots, I hear music.... As an exercise in multitrack thinking, see if you can listen to the nutcracker http://www.kencole.org/FractalKaleidoscope.htm I had it reduced to a simply melody in about 15 minutes. All these years people have complained that I whistle off key. Wrong, I am on key but off your track..... |

Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
The particular language might not be important. Roll your own. One of the references I gave was fundamentals of language. It seems that there are people who do it for a hobby. Maybe if everyone had to design their own language and teach it to at least one other person as a child, then they would learn how to communicate.
See Suzette Hayden Elgin - Native Tongue. I will see if I can find the thread reference. http://www.zompist.com/kit.html#grammar [This message has been edited by LCC (edited 03 September 2001).] |
Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
I recall two especially good songs but consistently have difficulty finding anything but trash. Well that was not a fair statement, but I am not able to find many songs which I remember, and the lyrics of the ones I do find are different.
Simon and Garfunkel - I am a rock, I am an island ???? - You light up my life The miserable lack of communication between men and women is worst of all. |
Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!

Oh The Bear Went Over The Mountain....
She'll Be Coming Around The Mountain... Oh My Darling Clementine http://legacy.sheltonbbs.com/~jmauk/sh134.html Why bother to know when so much of that *isms is available ? I especisally like plagiarisms....... [This message has been edited by LCC (edited 03 September 2001).] |
Re: OT - bored with gaming ? Get philosophy!
Well wonder of wonders, I was able to look at the dictionary without a crash! I found that there are 1036 *isms, far more than I expected. What I like does not really matter. Do your own things. Then one of these days I am out of here....
In the meantime, can I work for somebody ? I am willing to work as a consultant, not as a direct employee. The payoff can be anything mutually acceptable so long as I have full living expenses. |
