Tesco, I loaded, after much fiting with my nemisis computer, the TDM-ModPack without any problems. What I found I did wrong, was I forgot to remove the word none in the path and type in TDM-ModPack. Once i did that, I loaded it from the CD, unzipped and i went in fine. When I clik on it I get Playing from TDM-Modpack Directory..
I would ck with Mephisto on the mod pack

Something too tough for even Buffy to beat up? That sounds pretty tough, like some of my cooking.

I have received the first turn of the game and look forward to taking it home. Chances are good that I will end up sharing the system with some tangle haired feline with an unusual lust for undead nuns, but such are the trials of being a galactic conqueror.

Mac, give me a couple of days to work on the photos, I need to learn some things about digital photos and the internet. I used to think I was an up to date kind of fellow, but now I am out of date and without a date, so you will have to bear with me.

I would like to give a very big thanks to Mephisto and all the others who helped get this set up, especially given the tricky things we ran into in the setup.

Serious question - I will hopefully be able to download the first turn of the game tonight (I assume it comes via email) - we have a sensible turn 'turnaround' time of 48 hours but it is likely that I will not always be able to hit this

What happens? do I email Mephisto who then plays my round or something??

That sounds pretty tough, like some of my cooking

Yuk, remind me never to pop in and see you in Nairobi - let me guess, Meerkat Souffle? Wildebeest a la King? Rhino a la orange avec trouffles? testicle of Lion in a aspic sauce?

. Chances are good that I will end up sharing the system with some tangle haired feline with an unusual lust for undead nuns

Mate, get your facts right - cats are never tangle haired - we always look tip top and great -if you are in the same system as the fabulous furry fighting felines of the Growltigga Alliance - be prepared to be used as Catsan

As for the undead nun remark - Mrs GT might be one step away from being Nosferatu, but she has never been a nun

such are the trials of being a galactic conqueror

you missed out the key words 'follicly insipid beardy weirdy galactic conqueror'

I would like to give a very big thanks to Mephisto and all the others who helped get this set up, especially given the tricky things we ran into in the setup

I second this - Mephisto might be a donkey but he ain't no ***

Let this be the start of a glorious meld of roleplaying and SEIVG lunacy

Mmm, I guess you have not updated your TDM-ModPacks to the 3.10 Version. Anyway, here is a patch to solve the problem.

Patch.exe

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

Tigga,

Should you ever drop by, you will not have to face my cooking, in fact, you would be quite well fed. Reel back to the start of our placid and serene relationship and you may remember stating that I was an evil imperialist who needed chucking off the Boards. The reason? My cook Freida.

Freida has saved me from my own cooking and does a lovely job of feeding me. We rarely have game meat as it is usually, well, gamey and tough. Besides, I feel a bit guilty eating gnu for dinner; they are such good kissers.

On a more serious note, I thought that we were on a turn around that happened when the Last person uploaded their files. However, it also says 48 hours turn around, so I am confused. Not having played PBW before, I could be wrong, but I think that means that we can not miss a turn (good) but we do have to wait for everyone (slower). Or does it mean it will process every 48 hours or when everyone sends their turn, which ever comes first? Can one of the PBW vets help me out?

My other question is, do we need the TDM Modpack if we have no alien races? Or does it help with the ministers when we miss a turn?

Thanks!

Mephisto April 30th, 2002 05:19 PM

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

The game will only be processed when every turn is up however it will nag the "Last" player to upload its file after 48 hours have passed (in fact it will nag you after 44 hours that the regular turn time is supposed to be 48 hours). If you do not upload your turn, nothing will happen.
You don't need the TDM-ModPack as all the Ai scrip files are on the PBW server. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Ahh the answer to my problem. The game states that we will use Version 3.0 of the TDM.

Not 3.1.

Thanks Mephisto. I will update the tdm when I get home tonight. and send the turn then.

To everyone else.

I look forward to the game

If the patch does not work correctly, try to install it into a different, shorter named folder. When the install asks you if the found SE4 folder is the correct one just say no and choose another one.

I can load the game now. But I am still getting the settings errors Is anyone else getting these errors.

I remember there was a thread about this in decemember ...

Tesco,

I had a problem, so I ran Mephisto’s patch and now all is fine. Sorry to hear you are having a hard time.

Mephisto,

Thanks for the clarification, it sounds like a great set up and will avoid the concerns of missed turns. Again, thanks for all the help getting this set up, especially with the patch and so forth. I shall name a ship after you, something like “The Mighty Carrot”. After all, the Fluffy Bunnies do have to stay within character.

Tigga,

Sorry to let you down, but no rude comments today. I have the day off and the sun is shining, so I can summon up nothing nasty. Go kiss your wife and have a good day.

Player 7 was booted as it was one of my work colleagues (khanuk on this forum) playing 'silly buggers' - Esel an I decided to give him the old heave-ho as he had no intention of seriously taking part

Guys, apologies to you all - neing a computer virgin - even with Esel's help, I am having major problems with installing TDM modpack from the SEIVG disk, as well as the patch

anyone who can set out how to do this in baby speak, and I mean babyspeak, will be of enormous help

Guys, I am also not going to be able to post my turn until either tomorrow night or more likely Friday night UK time, and that is provided I can work out how to sort out my problems (SEIV ones that is)

However, if you are still having problems by tomorrow, please post and I can try to write something up on Friday night. And I will have no rude comments about how I have nothing else to do on a Friday night!

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina

i think the major problem is that the tdm-mod from the cd was not the right Version.

other than that it is easy.

Just unzip the file to its own directory off the root of seiv gold and then change the path to reflect the tdm-mod pack or use the mod picker program.

Download the new ship sets people are using and place them in the pictures/races directory.

thats it.

Good Evening all. I just joined up on this forum and have to say hello, so as not to be a lurker. Is any body up for me buying a round O pints? or a steak? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I started a practice PBW game with some family members and friends I arm twisted into playing SE IV (who are thanking me now http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif ). Just getting the mechanics of PBW is our goal as we have a total of about 3 weeks SE IVG experience between us, and this forum has helped for sure. It's not to bad, just need some stick time to work out the details.

Well thats enough a quick intro. Good to be here. Ssssslllluuurrrrpppp... ahhhhhhh

This is based on an average of the number of Posts per day, (9) since this thread was started, (53 days ago). With that in mind, The Moose Kissing / Gnu Kissing / TGP Researching / Cat Loving / Bouncing Scenery Watching / Sauce Making / Those with unmentionable unmentionables / Living with Undead Wives / Computer Illiteratti / etc, etc, etc
Had better get busy.

quote:

Winzip is one of many software packages that deals with zip files.

Zip files are what as known as archive files. There are many different types of archives, but zip is far and away the most common one on the web.

An archive is essentially a file which is made up of lots of other files, all packaged up into one easy- to handle bundle (like putting a load of loose objects into a box for easy transportation) .

Archives usually use horribly complicated mathematical algorythms to reduce the amount of disk-space that data takes up as well, saving download times and Hard Drive space. But you don't really need to know that bit.

That probably will make a difference. To prevent cheating, SEIV prevents players in multiplayer games from changing their data files or (I think) using different files to one-another.

Believe me, the only reason I would contemplate NOT being in on the Cantina bash is that I cannot work out how to get the wretched TDM modpack thingy on the pc and as for the patch - bouncing mufflers to that - can't we just play the game in straight 1.6-unadulterated-7??!!!

Never in the field of human conflict has a Growltigga declined a challenge from anyone with silly facial hair, or over the age of 50!! Gryph - that gets you in by 1 and another by default
