I'd be happy to. Eh, I think Arch needed 48, but not for the weekend?

RonD February 3rd, 2006 11:49 PM

Re: The Great War

Speaking as the sub, and with 2 of my own games to attend to, I'd prefer it stay at 48 until Morkilus returns.

archaeolept February 4th, 2006 12:59 AM

Re: The Great War

excellent. w/ a broken back ironhawk will be summoning fewer skellies...

I need 48. its not realistic at all to have a 24 hr schedule w/ a huge war against the gruesome triad

Cainehill February 4th, 2006 01:42 AM

Re: The Great War

But WTF didn't the turn run today? It was down to 4 hours when I went out, only one nation left to take its turn, and now, it's going to be a 72 hour turn when we were already at 48???

I got not problem with 48 - I do think that's much more reasonable at this stage of the game. But I do have a problem with 48 hours becoming 72, 72 becoming 96 - it's BS imo.

archaeolept February 4th, 2006 02:21 AM

Re: The Great War

i just checked - it says 17 hrs till hosting... which sounds right. I'll try and get my turn in tonight, or early tomorrow morning at worst.

edit: new turn; hosting time is approx 12:30am mst

Ironhawk February 8th, 2006 05:06 PM

24hr Vote

Since it seems that people just wait for the end of the turn timer before doing thier turns (regardless of what the timer is actually set at) I would like to take a vote on moving Artifacts back to 24hr.

I vote yes for 24hrs.

I am ok with 24 hours

Truper February 8th, 2006 07:34 PM

Re: 24hr Vote

I'll abstain. Whatever I do in the game no longer really matters, so how often I play it doesn't either.

Cainehill February 9th, 2006 12:21 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

I can do 24 hours. _If_ 24 hours, I do want it fixed hosting though.

archaeolept February 9th, 2006 12:50 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

sure, i'll go AI then

It seems that quantum needs 4 allies in order to take me down - those are the odds he likes certainly http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

due to the micromanagement involved in so many wars, i can barely deal w/ 48 hrs... For instance, this evening i'm in no shape to figure anything out...

Ironhawk February 9th, 2006 06:58 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

There is no need for ultimatums. Clearly you are voting for 48hrs then.

Morkilus February 9th, 2006 07:11 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

I have to vote for 48 in order to let Arch get his turn in; it would be uninteresting without proper thinking. I would want extra time if I were in the same position.

Cainehill February 9th, 2006 08:22 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

I'll vote 48 hours also.

archaeolept February 9th, 2006 11:14 AM

Re: 24hr Vote

sure there's a need for ultimatums. I'm fighting a five front war, and barely have enough time to get a turn in at the present schedule. 24 hrs is not an acceptible option for me at all, as you should clearly know. The results of a "vote" are irrelevant.

Ironhawk February 9th, 2006 04:57 PM

Re: 24hr Vote

Well, since I know that QM favors 48hrs as well it would seem that the consensus favors you anyway (4-2). 48hrs it is!

Ermor = Evil

Let it be known that the necrophagic, zombie-loving, vestal virgin-wasting pile of festering maggots-smelling nation of Ermor has backstabbed me. And I am shocked beyond words. Except for these.

- Hakitursar of Jotunheim

Ironhawk February 14th, 2006 04:25 AM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Did he actually backstab you? Like you had a NAP and he broke it without warning?

Cainehill February 14th, 2006 11:22 AM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Nope. Didn't have a NAP. Saturday on IRC there was talk of a NAP, I simply said that Ermor was very peaceful, but never agreed to NAP.

Edit : Only formal NAP I have had all game is a 5 turn one with C'Tis, having had less formal friendly arrangements with other such nations as Man. Never an arrangement with Mictlan or Jotuns, nor with the nations I've not yet even met such as Abysia and Vanheim.

Then there's under-the-table dealings, such as taking bribes not to attack a specific third party nation for "a turn or two". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Morkilus February 14th, 2006 02:43 PM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Morkilus is not shocked (we did not in fact have a pact). Hakitursar is shocked and angry, and shall soon be visiting the front lines of the total war between us. Nimmu (or whatever he calls himself) shall be humbled once and for all. You may win deathmatches aplenty, but the weight of thousands of Jotun feet shall crush you.

Madness! The name is Madness! And I look forward to finally having something to fight that is not merely trampled underfoot like weeds beneath the mechanical thresher.

Madness of Ermor, worshiped by all the undead virgin vestals!

victory in defense of the motherland!

The degenerate worshippers of the false vannish god, drunk w/ their own debauchery, were vanquished at the castle of stalingradolore. The brave vine ogre defenders valiantly gave their all against the massed van hordes. All will be awarded the Order of Merit of the Worker's Paradise.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that when I went to war I would get annihilated.. Ahh well, that's pretty much it for me methinks..

Clearly more than a few things I am missing/not thinking of in dom 2.

Wish I'd found some sages in this game..

its tough - really, there are so many tricks, so many ways to hit someone. Your invasion force was very scary, and forced me to retreat until the moment of my choosing...

Re: Ermor = Evil

I had two libraries and I don't think they did me much good... I think vine ogres are more important than sages. I did have three sages stem off a Wolf Drop, though, so they aren't completely useless...

Yeah this is the truth. Since there are so many variables you cant always count on winning any given battle. Best advice is to never put all your eggs in one basket and always have a trick up your sleeve. I pulled a pair of tricks on Man this turn he's probably not happy about, for example http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

You have only your capital, which is seiged, wish. I arrow fended your archer horde at the one castle and then pulled a last minute switcheroo and spammed air elementals instead of using an SC at the other.

Re: Ermor = Evil

Is it just my imagination, or has this game also been stalled for some unannounced reason? If people are going to bloody stale without saying anything, they'll stale again - just let them stale, and mark them as not welcome in future games if they continue to do so.

Re: Ermor = Evil

just a temp delay - only QM left (i believe van is out), and ironhawk will host it.

Ironhawk February 20th, 2006 03:05 AM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Sorry bout that caine. A lot of these conversations are happening in IRC. One player or another will just ask for an hour to two extra and I grant it. If you want me to be stricter about enforcing the time limit thats not a problem, just let me know.

Thanks for the fun!

I'm still recovering from a being sick, and just feel too wiped out to get this turn done tonight so I've asked ironhawk to extend the deadline - turn is to host tomorrow noon PST. Hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone...

Re: Ermor = Evil

ok ironhawk please set hosting back to 48 hrs... seriously http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

there is much traditional ulmish dancing in the streets by all the followers of the true faith as reports filter in that the cowardly and unnatural lamia army group north has fled... one look at the indominitible courage in our brave infantry's eyes, and they lost all will to fight.

Ironhawk February 26th, 2006 06:51 PM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Timer has been reset. While we are reseting things: Is there any particular time that people want the turn deadline to be? Right now its just going to be around 1pm PT.

archaeolept February 26th, 2006 07:48 PM

Re: Ermor = Evil

1 pm pt what day? ;p

edit - I guess, if you could be more explicit as to what you are doing... 48 hr QH from now would be early afternoon tuesday, so clearly you're considering some different hosting schedule... ?

Ironhawk February 27th, 2006 04:51 AM

Re: Ermor = Evil

Im not doing anything really, I was just asking if people had an opinion on when they wanted the turn to generate. Since the turns usually run out to the 48hr limit we can sort of pick and choose the time that that will be. Like if I were to reboot the server at midnight then turns would probably happen around midnight every other day.

All hail the new King of Abysia. Holds out ring to be kissed"

I will be subbing in for Tuper for a while (not sure how long yet). I will honor any deal that Tuper had made, that doesn't involve handing over all Abysian gold every month.
