I can only lay claim to 2 earth attacks and was the victim of earth attacks myself(: Either Man is killing you with poor targeting or Pangaea is, and is scooping me in as well.

Tien Chi has been in my hands for a long time, and I took that from Pangaea, but the citizens were ready to revolt anyway and were clamoring for new leadership.

Ulm was the 1st capital liberated from Shinuyama. Obviously Ulm was not originally part of the Shinuyama Empire! Imagime the terror of the Ulmish people when their city fell to a pack of Demons. Imagine their joy to be liberated by Angels! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Agartha the One that loses Patience isn't pleased to read things like "earth attack". You are warned a last time!

Re: Agartha wins!

Pythium was forced to use "all means necessary" to liberate the enslaved citizens of Ulm, including causing 2 earth elementals to rise from the earth to destroy foul demons.

Panakeia, the Mother of Nature, is attuned to all living things, and while she claims no dominion over the Earth, was sure the Earth would understand such a limited use of her magic for such a noble cause!

Here we observe a vile witch, who in her last moments, turned into a serpent! We can also see that Shinuyama has been engaging in mass clamming, making him a dangerous longterm adversary.

Mass clamming? What like 15? Come on http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
You just defeated my only clammer anyway.

I am sure you are enjoying all the gems from my lands.
What ever happened to the seraph with 3 wishes in it? I am sure you are not clamming either http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif.

Late game news

Who is playing Caelum now? I can't keep track of them, and I need to send a message.

Dr P took them over last turn. But it IS hard to keep track of who is playing caelum.

Re: Late game news

Hmm strange the battle report said I lost 11 mages out of 13, but then I saw at least 5 or 6 flee from the battle with Pythium. I can't see them on the strategic map.

Why is there a difference between the actual result and the battle movie? Or am I missing something Xietor?

Xietor June 18th, 2008 12:51 PM

Re: Late game news

Sometimes what you watch is just wrong. rarely, i have watched my forces win a clear victory on the replay, but have actually suffered a terrible defeat. And that is a bug that is rare, but unsolved from Dom II days. To be precise, I observed it in alpaca and epic heroes I, and it was much worse. Those games were both on Llamaserver. But the host has nothing to do with it.

Those battles were both much much worse than losing retreating mages. In both of those cases, whole victorious armies were missing and the province was lost. As well as many mages dead etc. And yet both players replay showed the opposite thing happening on their replay.

Here my replay shows some mages escaping as well. My mages are casting soul slay and it is possible, since your mages are large size, maybe 1 got targeted. But to be honest I am not sure.

I only recovered 2 items, which is certainly not what would be expected had you lost 9 mages, given the number of commanders i had there with full slots open.

But I am not sure that is what occurred here, hoewever. There was not a whole fictional battle that was on the replay, but only some mages that were retreating that looked to have escaped, but the message shows as died in battle.

Not that I am making light of losing mages and items, which is a terrible blow. I am just saying I am not sure your issue is related to the battle replay bug.

Re: Late game news

What Xietor means is that the Gods of Dominions are displeased with you Reay, and have decided to send you false reports of battles.

Xietor June 19th, 2008 12:42 PM

Re: Late game news

Saw this post recently in the manatee thread. And that is from llamaserver. Again, not sure if the retreating mage issue is related or not, but this bug used to be exceedingly rare.

If it is becoming more common, then maybe the recent patch may have to be looked at:

Someone has got a scout in West Midden (#61), maybe?
If yes, could you tell me what did you see in battle replay?
My battle replay shows clear win of my Jarl against 3 Rudras and one Siddha of Kailasa, but battle report and acctual after-battle situation shows a win of Kailasan forces.
Something is bugged here.
Yandav, what shows your battle replay?

No scouting of the province but an adjacent scout sees it changing control to Kailasa.

I think you're victim of the known bug that once in a while the battle replay doesn't match what happened.

Reay June 20th, 2008 06:41 AM

Re: Late game news

Yeah, I think I have had it happen earlier in the game too. Not sure if it was with the most recent patch.

Should I post something on the bug thread?

It seems we are entering the end of days as that term was used in biblical times. Plagues and locusts have descended upon the land.

Fortunately, wights, ghosts, tartarians, angels, and lifeless constructs are not overly dependent on gold or supplies.

Ermor now controls all of the formerly southern Agartha. We have re-named the area Coastline of the Dead. Catchy, eh?

And as for Agartha... we tire of warring with you. Surrender to us now, and become my vassal state, and we will let you keep your remaining lands.

Agartha the Cruel will never bow to anyone! See the glory of Agartha! We will teach all lesser tribes a lesson and every member of the underground resistance, the ones who robbed our gems in the cave city, sabotaged our labs, have stolen the magic items out of our armory, will meet their cruel end! We will pillage your pesky villages and sacrifice your offsprings to Helena the Only One!

Re: Late game news

I have posted on the bug thread that Xietor and I have been having inconsistent battle replays.

Have you other guys noticed any mismatches with your battle replays and the reports? If so, what OS are you running?

Xietor, I assume you and I are both on Windows?

Xietor June 29th, 2008 01:13 PM

Re: Late game news

OS and different versions of Dominions on the host computer and the players has nothing to do with it. It may have had a role in other replay issues, but never in one that i was a party to.

In fact, in Alpaca, Llamabeast did an extensive examination to try to discover the cause of the replay bug as it affected him in that game, but to no avail. And he eliminated such things as different versions and os.

The problem lies elsewhere. But it used to be exceedingly rare. I have had long games go by and never had it occur even one time. To see it happen twice in a row, then see it on the manatee thread also, makes me worry a bit about the new patch having triggered something.

BTW, of course i use windows. windows xp to be precise.

cupido2 June 29th, 2008 04:59 PM

Re: Late game news

Agartha the One that Knows all of course knows what causes this bug. If you surrender to Agartha the Glorious, Helena the Wise might give you a hint.

Lingchih June 29th, 2008 09:06 PM

Re: Late game news

I've never seen the problem. All my battle replays have been accurate. I am also on windows xp.

Xietor June 29th, 2008 09:20 PM

Re: Late game news

Not that there is any good time for the bug to occur, but at least this war is really decided. All that remains to be determined is the final price of it.

But Reay and I have had many bettles and it is strange only the last 2 have been bugged. But again, it was only of several that occur every turn between us.

Lingchih June 29th, 2008 09:37 PM

Re: Late game news

You also had a manifestation of this bug when one of your scouts in a province did not see a battle between Agartha and I, although the battle clearly occurred. I think there may well be a problem here.

-The Council of Ermor

Sadly, the masters of coin of Ermor have informed the council that we cannot support such a large war force without taking further provinces. Our war leaders had truly wanted to end the war with Agartha, but it seems it must continue, lest we go broke. But let the citizens of Agartha know that we will not treat them unjustly.

No battle replay bugs that turn! And the evil reay is dead(though immortals do not really die in their own dominion). But he is naked and has 3 afflictions, is cursed, and is likely one scared Pretender.

I just got an email from Velusion. Apparently his server is crashed, and he does not want to spend the time/money to fix it.

Anyway, if you guys want to continue the game, he sent me a zip file with the latest turn files and such. We would need to find a new host, though.

llamabeast July 2nd, 2008 09:16 PM

Re: Late game news

I'm happy to host if you like. Would be PBEM of course, so if people aren't so keen on that you could wait a few days for Gandalf's server to get fixed, I imagine he'd be happy to help out.

Lingchih July 2nd, 2008 09:21 PM

Re: Late game news

Thanks llama. It was a network game before, so it might be be best to wait for Gandalf. I've been playing a few games now on your server though, and it is quite nice, even though PBEM.

I think there were only a handful of people still actively playing this game, so we might just call it a draw and put it to bed. Late game ennui had set in.

Lingchih July 2nd, 2008 10:22 PM

Re: Late game news

Gandalf has graciously volunteered to host the game on his older server. lch also volunteered to host on his new server, so if the game ends up being too big for Gandalf's, we can probably use lch's.

Thanks very much everyone.

Lingchih July 2nd, 2008 10:55 PM

New Server!!!!

Ok, the game is back up and running on Gandalf's server. The new address is:

game.dom3minions.com
port: 10375

It is set on 72 hour host, with 72 hours till the next hosting.

This game should be considered a test for the next few turns, until everyone is satisfied that it is playing correctly. Gandalf will also be setting up a status page for it in the next few days.

Lingchih July 3rd, 2008 11:43 PM
