I mean it is just a game, and not all that important. But it seems we should behave in ways that are going to keep the games as balanced as possible.

I think I'll start a poll and see what others think. It's kind of interestng.

Go play single player.

So far the votes are 10:1 against your poll. I do hope you get more votes, for your campaign's sake.

You should have really taken astral mages with your attack. I had no armies to defend my lands there but you let me just mind hunt your leaders, surround your troops and route them with tiny force.

I have some ideas already http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Gotta test them now.

Omnirizon May 10th, 2008 03:36 AM

Re: Fragrant Fluffy Things

I had no experience against mind hunts before this game. its really only my second. since i had you ravaging some of my forces with them, i've moved astral mages to all of my forts, and move them with every major army now. I also throw in a couple of redundant leaders with every force too, just in case.

Re: Fragrant Fluffy Things

Argathan treasury is currently willing to trade water gems. We are completely flexible on what we will trade for, but will trade at a rate of 1.2 for 1 (an extra gem for every 5) for earth, astral, or death gems; all other gems are 1:1. Contact our magic treasurer via private mail with any requests.

-Argathan magic treasury

EDIT: to be clear, we want to trade AWAY water gems, not trade for them. we don't want the water gems; we want other gems. We will basically take any other gem, but prefer earth/astral/death.

Question: I'm playing with luck 3 as Bogarus but haven't gotten a single hero. I wonder if this a bug with the CBM 1.21 mod since bogarus is the last nation added? Does it seem odd that in the 50+ turns I haven't gotten a single hero with luck 3?

As far as I know, Worthy Heroes 1.8 is older than Bogarus, so there aren't any Bogarus heroes in it. I wouldn't call it a bug per-se. Should still be some Bogarus heroes in the base game, though.

I just this turn got my first hero for Pythium. And, of course, he's terrible. You're not missing much. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Entire reason I chose Bogarus was to get Babi Yaga. Bogarus has great heroes and I strategized around them. now I'm sad I don't get them. Especially since mighty Marignon is squashing me and I'll never get them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif

Afaik, Worthy Heroes 1.8 hasn't got new heroes even for some of the older nations.

I also took Luck 3 and got 2 heroes so far (1 of them already dead).

And in what way am i squashing you? You took 5 provinces from me, we never fought a real battle. Or does it count as "squashing" that i successfully defended against 1 of your 3 remote summonings? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Let's just say my little horde of woodsmen archers and air/astral communion mages vs you dual blessed flagellants, wraithlords, several angels, fallen angels, arch demon,(edit: forgot the harbringers!) nice hero turned prophet (all thugs/scs tricked out heavily) and fire/gifts from heaven communion mages seems a bit of a mismatch.
How about you leave the wraithlords, heavenly angels, fallen angels and archdemons at home and we fight this mano a mano with just humans?

And I'll gladly leave my hordes for hell alone and we'll just let the bogarus troops fight vs the Marignon troops!

what do you say?

My little snakey friends need to get it in gear. You're doing pretty darn well against 3 countries (although Atlantis seems done). Patala is the sword and main event. I was supposed to be the weaker partner till you whipped the Snakes soundly three straight times!

BTW, we may be short on SCs, super combat spells, items, cash and gems and of course our great heroes...but we got heart !

So don't underestimate we have a few tricks left and we're not that scared of your uber army with your little tricked out SCs with the 40 defense.
The little Bogie that could! That's us

I'm not underestimating you, you are overestimating me. I got my *** handed to my by Patala in our first engagement. And the other battles i only won with heavy casualties.

And i don't think you got heart. But i can sell you some, really cheap, made only from our finest vintage virgins. You can choose from 3 varieties: heart of life, black heart and crystal heart. Order within the hour and get a slave collar for free!

The readme that comes with Worthy Heroes says you get a Golden Naga, but that's it. F4, pretty buff stats. I'd be pretty happy if I got it. Good luck on that.

could I get an extra 24 hours added to timer?

i'm on my mac laptop and having trouble getting dom3 to work. plus i won't have constant access to internet connection for another day and i'd like to be sure i have time.

on dom3 not working, it works, per se, but it won't read the game folders, so it won't see the alexandria game. not sure what to do yet, going to try some stuff.

Firewalker May 13th, 2008 04:02 PM

Re: Pungent Spongy Stuff

Omni --

Okay, will do.

On Dom3 problems, the only thing I can think of is that you may not have the mods installed and set in preferences to be active.

Omnirizon May 13th, 2008 10:15 PM

Re: Pungent Spongy Stuff

thanks fire, i'll need the extra time. once i get where i'm going i'll be back on normal schedule though (stopping at friends and relatives on my way back home.) should be there sometime tommorow night.

i got one problem solved. the mac dom3 places savegames and mods in a seperate area from the dom3 folder, yet it has the 'mods' and 'savegames' in the dom3 folder (it just doesn't look in them).

new problem is the trn file isn't working. i load up game, select the turn, and the program shuts down. another game's turn file works just fine; however its hosted from ich's network server, so maybe that has something to do with it. i should have it figured out in time, i'll try resending the turn from llamaserver and get back.

Omnirizon May 14th, 2008 08:53 AM

Re: Pungent Spongy Stuff

i'v tried everything i can think of. my laptop just will not open the game file, whenever i tell it to dom3 just shuts down. i've resent the turn and even downloaded my most resent .2h file so it looks like it normally would before i do a turn. still no go.

my other game works just fine, so i'm not sure what to think. maybe my compy doesn't want me to see something.

I've attached this game's map file. It's different than the one Pasha has available on his Alexandria thread, which could be the problem.

But I do think the game is ready for a permanent switch to a 72hr timer. Anyone else?

Firewalker May 14th, 2008 01:03 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

I second the 72hr motion. I have been having some turns that I rush through at the last minute.

hoo May 14th, 2008 01:08 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

72 hours is good. I'll also be out of action for 48 hours this weekend so a 72 hour turn means I don't have to pause the game.

cleveland May 14th, 2008 01:14 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Good.

Besides, I'm sure people will want to revise their turns knowing that TC's King of Elemental Earth just met a tragic & unexpected end. Who will be first to summon him back? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

DonCorazon May 14th, 2008 01:50 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Yeah he was still geared up to fight Utgardian werewolfs as he strolled peacefully through the TC woods, not the swarms of Pangean dragonflies, Fairy Queen, Air Elemental, and Crystal Mage that swooped down on him from the skies.

I am glad you mentioned his passing Cleveland so somebody else can have an opportunity to bring him back to the world. We certainly miss him here in Tien Chi, but we have more effective uses for our earth gems these days.

Btw, is anyone else fighting Pangea these days or am I the only lucky one?

Randvek May 14th, 2008 10:36 PM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

I'd prefer to stick to 48 hour, but I know I'll be in the minority on that one.

Omnirizon May 15th, 2008 12:02 AM

Re: Musky gooey stuff

by jove!!! it's the missing map file, thanks cleveland. works perfect now. i'd think dom3 would tell me the reason it shuts down is because it is missing the map file, but it never did; and i'd never have thought of it.

on timer, i kinda like 48 hour too. typically is enough time for me. but if anyone is needing an extra day to script inordinately huge armies or anything, i'd understand.

DonCorazon May 15th, 2008 12:17 AM

Re: Musky gooey stuff

i'd prefer 48 hours and just asking for extensions when needed. but if cleveland needs 72 hours to summon all that pangean shrubbery, then i am more than happy to accomodate.

cleveland May 15th, 2008 12:33 AM

Re: New semi-newbie game!

Fair enough, the hours of tedious micromanagement are my own stupid fault for choosing this ridiculous freespawn strategy.

Speaking of which, TC, we plan to be stopping by for supper. Kindly set the table for 1000. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

-----------
But in all seriousness I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for a weekend trip. I fully expect to have internet access & to play my turns as normal, but if I'm wrong & fall off the face of the Earth, I humbly request you all consider postponing hosting until sometime Monday afternoon (US). If this is the case, I send my apologies in advance.

spacht May 15th, 2008 09:38 AM

ooc - This is all very very good stuff for me to experience as a new user. There are a lot of "big sticks" in this game and I hope to get banged over the head with as many as possible. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I kick myself daily for Utagrd's poor early/mid research in the Alexandria game.
