GT, You do not have to install the TDM mod pack. you do have to create a new install of SE IV, add the patch and make sure you use that install for the game.
I do not have the TDM installed. I remember asking Mephisto about this a few weeks ago.

Mephisto? I am right on this?

My Good GT, if you withdraw from our game, just think of all the possible international reprecussions.. its endless... bragging rights will be by default..., no, no, no, You might even have to kiss a Moose or Gnu just to make up to us or become involved in a furry symbiote relationship....

Actually I think we do not need the tdm-mod pack.

Since this is the greatest downfall to our game we should get rid of it and play with out it... That way we can get started. On a side not Tigga talk to MAC and get him to expain to you how to set up your seiv directories to play with mods. ( That way you will learn some more Mac, and the next game we can use a mod...we will take it in small steps)

I recommend this solution to our problems with the mod.

1. Close down the old game
2. Create a new game only with 1.67 stock and no mods
3. Everyone join again and upload there races and empire files.
4. start the game.
5. Play game.

This or K[M] will go crazy..........

Tesco; it took me long enough to learn how to do this one, lets at least try it before we give up, besides, i don't think GT needs tdm to play the game, but lets see if we can help him download it anyway, it was and is confusing but once done, everything comes together, take it from one who lost enough hair and exploded with language my kids never heard from me before while trying to figure it out, let alone all the emails i sent everyone asking and receiving help on this thing.

I have a rather shaky photo of some gnu kissing, but it seems that we can not post images on this board. If anyone could advise how I can post it, I would be gratful, as would the photographer who risked life, limb and sanity to take the photo.

As for firing up our game, I feel that the suggestion of starting again from scratch would be our best move. Perhaps we should even leave the 1.67 patch out, it is just one more step slowing things down. Mac, I hear your concern, but this is really for the best and it will be simple to do. Truely simple, not like the other things we made you do...

Right now we have a 2-1 vote on it, can the others chime in?

Tigga, you are going to have to learn how to unzip files, as that is how the PBW systems sends them to you. Can't you get involved in that law suit when a bunch of Kenyan nomads are suing the British government for leaving unexploded shells all over the desert? That way you can fly down here and I can show you all of this in 15 minutes. It will also give me a chance to confirm the Shreck rumours.

More seriously, I got a copy of Unzip from a Pc Gamer cover disk, does anyone have any suggestions where Tigga can get a copy?

Mac....

All I was saying was that you could teach Tigga just so you could answer his questions. That way you learn some more and gain alittle more experience in the storage of files.

The only change you would have to make is to 'click' on the paths.txt file in the root directory of seiv gold and change the line
Using Mod Directory:=TDM-ModPack
to
Using Mod Directory:=None
then save the file.

Then teach tigga how to do all the stuff you just learned.

Then if tigga askes you a question you don't know you can either read up on it or ask here.

You knowledge increases and your skill set improves.

P.S. its a nice feeling when you think I know the answer to that question and I am going to help this person.

Hmmmm, SEIV dilemma

Hmmmm, by the cunning artifice of deleting my heavily 'tweaked' SEIVG from Villesse (my computer) and reinstalling, I was able to play turn 1 of the game and in fact have just uploaded turn 2

Question - my race uses an excellent 'Atrocities' Federation shipset but I seem to be logging nto the game as the Drushocka or the Eeee or the Piundon or the Sallega - why is this?

Dilemma - I have just realised why I like SEIV so much - it is not the gameplay, it is not the tech, it is not the graphic, it is not any of this - it is the fact that I can "create" the '"perfick" space empire a la Starfire a la Honor Harrington a la Startrek - I can have fllets of 1000 starships, each lovingly named, each planet lovingly named and crafted

I have now realised that PBW doesn't let you do this if you want to win - you dont advertise, you dont give anything away

So.... what the hell do I do? play to win? or play for fun?

GT &gt; I have the same problem with naming planets and ships, and designing ships that look great but are not effective for the rough and tumble nature of most PBW players. I guess that is why I don't play PBW very often unless it's a good role-play game.

Maybe you forgot to re-install your shipset when you deleted and re-installed SE4? If SE4 can't find a shipset it will pick a random once each time.

I think that you can post a link, but that it should be very clearly labeled as being dangerous, adult material that may be unsuitable for those who are easily offended. Perhaps an age limit should be set. My main fear is that if we put an appropriate age limit on it, only Mac will be able to review the photo. If we were to put a maturity test on the link, none of us would be able to check it. We will just have to trust to fate that people take the warning seriously.

"To Have Phun" was the name I gave to all of the scenarios I ever created and games I ran. I would judge and award victory based on Attitude, Sportsmanship, and Demeanor. Some never caught on and generally were bad losers even if they achieved their strategic and tactical objectives. It pissed them off to see a good loser get the top prize. Those that did catch on were people who valued the handshake more than the prize.

GT, I have discussed this with my doctor and he felt as long as I prepared myself for the horrible, disgusting, unavailable for those under 40, live photos of this ambiant behavior, my ticker should be able to hold up, however, he strongly advised to pop several baby aspirin and to be sitting down before I envision this gastly, undescribable, event. So, I have been preparing myself to indulge in this most dangerous undertaking of viewing these live photos. I don't even want to think of how Saxon got the poor photographer to take these photos, let alone the psychological impact it had on him/her, or the nightmares he/she are more then likely going thru. We must also take into consideration the tramua to the poor Gnu itself, Can you just imagine what the poor thing went thru when out of nowhere a human walked up and gave it a lip-lock,

I have never played my Tiktsin in a multiplayer game, because they're way too pacifistic to compete.

Growltigga thought that would teach the wretch not to cross the great cat - note to neural nanonics, dont play SEIV when under the influence, second note to neural nanonics - dont forget to drop videos off at Blockbusters on way home, third note to neural nanonics - check out that new cat next door, organise a party and invite those cool cats from research who have come up with some great things recently

On the one hand, roll up, roll up, I do reccomend the link because (a) it is not rude and (b) you get to see Saxon's beard (Laugh? I laughed till the tears ran down my legs!!)

On the other hand, who is the galactic chronicler for the Galactic Bashfest? can Mephisto do this?he is the game coordinator and I assume gets to see all of what each of us are doing?

On the gripping hand, I suspect a chronicler may give a bit too much information about what each of us are up to

The current game is going. There is no restart.
The reason for a separate thread is that this is a grab bag. We would try to keep it focused on the game so it reads more like the other story threads, (but more humor and the like). Story lines would get lost in the Cantinna. They would be hard to follow.

PBW is down and Mac mentioned sending his turn to Mephisto. Is that the plan for the next few turns? Sorry, between the maintenance on the board and my boss getting appendicitis, I have not been keeping up.

I am pleased that people have enjoyed my efforts to promote goodwill and understanding between species. My only disappointment was that Tigga did not comment on my shapely legs, which were so well displayed in my shorts. Of course, I was not surprised to hear him call for an alliance of testosterone lacking nations against those blessed with abundant facial hair, it is a refrain of jealously which has been sung many times before. He is not even aware of how much he wants to grow a mustache, but we can all clearly see the subconscious signs. After all, he has chosen a race of cats, which are well known for preening their whiskers.

Tesco, my comments was known as a pun or a play on words. 'Vassili' is the Greek equivalent name for "Basil" hence my remark, and hence the reference to your empire sounding like a bunch of kebab shop owners

Basil is a herb, not a spice. It is of the genus Ocimum Basilicum Vulgarum albeit the sort usually grown for culinary purposes depends on your locale, for example, Thai Basil (Ocimum Basilicum Horapha) is different from say the Sweet Basil (Ocimum Basilicum Menthii) you colonials grow

Please ensure your culinary terms are correct.
