I listed magic paths those nations have access to. Return of the Raptors would have access to Death, Earth and Air via Harab Seraphs, and to Air and Water via the last of the other Seraphs, but none of their mages have access to all of Death, Earth, Air and Water.

Tien Chi has many mages, many different mages. LA Agartha won't get anything better than a Ktonian Necromancer, and while some of their other magic-users are more powerful priests and perhaps more cost-efficient, Ktonian Necromancers are always magically most powerful. Ktonian Necromancers ARE the magic of LA Agartha.
LA Tien Chi has many mages, two very different schools of magic, and four different mages who are suited to different jobs: Earth for items and spesific tasks in battles, Nature to support own armies, Death for various jobs in and out of battles, and Celestial Masters for many different jobs including but not limited to item forging and sitesearching.

Besides, there are two nations inspired by the Eastern mythology, and we wouldn't want them to be too similar. Their random is always one of the paths they already have, so they won't have quite the breadth of the mage that wasn't, but this is the closest match I could find in such a short time.

I'm not sure which ones are new. Is Leeching Darkness new?

EDIT: Also, there's no need to tell me that Bane Lords aren't new. Even I have used them. However, the spell is no longer the same, and Bane Lords are no longer the only reasonable thug chassises.

Well it used to be D3 and 10 gems so I guess they figured bane lords were overused.

It'll be cool if death has some other good thug summons now though.

Yeap I can't remember any spell like "Leeching Darkness". It would be cool to see it.

There is a blood spell, Leeching Touch in Doms 2. That is the only one what I can think of if we talk about "Leeching". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Very interesting. Depending on the level it needs and the skill needed to cast it it could be a very handy spell.

How about a new magic item for a change?

"DaiBbakemono"

Is that a typo ?

Edit : I also see many units with an eye in their stats. What does that mean ?

Nerfix September 25th, 2006 12:06 PM

Re: Screenies!

It most likely a typo. The english in that unit is pretty terrible anyway...

Eye with black center = Darkvision/Partial Darkvision
Eye with white center = Unit doesn't have eyes/is Blind

100%WASD, 10%WASD
They are old, 60/50 so not too severe. -2 att/def/str, but their base hp of 9 usually aren't affected, and precision goes down only 1 to 14.

You might adore them, but you usually want more, and more, and more. I try to choose different things, things that made an impression for me - and then you are fine with the boring stuff.

MA Abysia, Warlocks. They've stayed the same, exept they are old now, and have funky randoms.

Others of the 200 gp barbarian mages occassionally suffer from much less old age; they could be thugs. Spirit Masters survive stray arrows better, but 200 gp would still be a streep price to pay for such a mage. IMHO, it works out in Late Age with more gold around and thanks to the versatility of the three mages.

Stray arrow are VERY important to mages. Even in Dom2 they're the main early cause of mortality in battlemages and now with shortened casting ranges, larger armies, and weakened storms, it's going to be even worse. That change will at least double his life expectancy clearing indies. Even against player mage armies it helps since a nontrivial amount of spells do basic damage. And against the other spells they have a very nice MR.

Not everyone will want to see this game screen. This is from my Armageddon game. What was really fun was running this on automatic quick-hosting all night to see if it would crash the server.

Some testing could be done to discover for certain, but I'd bet ERMOR is still the most nasty of the computer opponents.

Also... just my opinion, but different ages for each nation should have a slightly different flag as well. Even something small like a stripe added would really help.

That was done few versions ago. Some differences have been added. The Agartha flags have nothing on top, as an example, even though you've seen the finished flags on Boron's game.

Marverni is EA only. I'm not sure if there are plans for other eras, but I don't remember hearing about it. It's celts. I'll post something tomorrow.

Ermor is the best nation, if you know how to play it effectively. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Screenies!

Ermor tends to take an early lead but it does not win the AI race. Im afraid that specific info beyond that will have to wait for tests that are not done under the beta-testing controls.

Also, in these tests I tended to take Ermor or Jotunheim since they could stay alive for awhile without me actually having to play it so that will also affect these charts.

That depends largely if you use vanilla or cb imho.
In vanilla dom2 ermor was awesome http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
But in CB/Dom3 clams are much harder to make, and nearly impossible to hoard for ermor. So ermor is imho much weaker in Dom2 CB and not too uber in Dom3 neihter probably.

But because population is so important in Dom3 and both ermor and ryleh are death themes there ermor should be very good in dom3 late era. I think you will like them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
Ermor gets 20 death gems from their starting site in Dom3.

I haven't analyzed it, but I think it's closer to "many", not "most". that gives me an idea: maybe I should go through everything and say "this many new conjuration", "this many new alterations", "this many changed conjuration", "this many new items", "this many national spells for Marignon" etc. This way, you won't be quite as dissappointed if your favourite nation doesn't have new spells, and will now what to do to see as many new things as possible in few games.
