Re: Countdown

That's a pretty good idea. And kind of fitting that you have to sacrifice a powerful blood mage to the horrors in order to end it.

Re: Countdown

Tell you what - I'll have the guy who cast it stand out in the open, and you can come and try to kill him. Is that acceptable to everyone?

Re: Countdown

I've got to forfeit. My head hasn't really been in this game for some time, and it's a tremendous managerial load. I can go AI, or you can try to find a sub as you prefer.

Plz die all of you,
DrPraetor

Re: Countdown

This is very awkward. My ally has quit. You can imagine that this tosses most of my strategy out the door.

DrPraetorious September 15th, 2010 10:33 AM

Re: Countdown

Well, since I just want you all to die, I'd be happy letting Eximius Sui pick a ringer as my replacement, if he can recruit one.

Thanks for the troops TNN. Can I have some more please?

Re: Countdown

I have a temp sub. I may take my position back over in a month or so, or I may gouge my eyes out with something blunt and rusty.

Re: Countdown

Psh, the only real loss among the troops you got were the tarrasques, and I have many, many more of those.

Do tell. Who is your temp sub?

Don't you have something better to do with N gems?

At the rate I'm producing them? No.

I'm being temp subbed by cmte., actually.

I hope you all die,

Are you going to tell us who is on the comitee? Or is it a shadow council, whose names and identities remain anonymous.

Re: Countdown

I can reveal a few of them.

Frank Trollman is first of the nine - if you wish to contact him, wail your despair into the uncaring void. He will hear you.

Micah and QM are, collectively, sixth of the nine. They've given up on playing dom3 to concentrate on their invincible kung fu, which you will taste if you seek to uncover the identity of the other members.

You mean that Michael Cera movie where Michael Cera plays Michael Cera and does things like Michael Cera?

We are just simple demon ogres from the underworld. We don't understand complicated buffing sequences or "linebacker communions." What are these rainbows on my armor? Will they keep me safe from the evil spirits? All of these things confuse and baffle us, but we do know that twiggy firemen can not stand up to the might of the Dai Oni and cold Yomi steel.

Well, no word from Hoplo, so I sent in a rush turn (better than nothing). I see TNN hasn't submitted yet either. Hope things work out...

Re: Countdown

I nominate TwoBits as winner. This is getting ridiculous.

Debaser8 October 21st, 2010 03:44 PM

Re: Countdown

That's quite a nice devil army you got there.

If TNN and Helheim want to acknowledge TwoBits as winner than that is if fine with me, if not I will fight on.

Hoplosternum October 21st, 2010 04:05 PM

Re: Countdown

Sure I am happy with that. But I am happy to fight on as well.

TwoBits October 22nd, 2010 11:15 AM

Re: Countdown

If the consensus is to call it, I'm obviously OK with that. But I'll keep going if others want to (the last couple of turns have been very instructive for me, having only made it to the ultra-late game once before).

Fakeymcfake October 25th, 2010 09:41 PM

Re: Countdown

Eh, I could go either way. I'm silly busy at the moment though so my turns haven't been what I'd want them to be for the past couple months. I'd be fine with Two Bits winning this one.

Debaser8 October 25th, 2010 11:13 PM

Re: Countdown

Well looks like you won TwoBits. Congrats. Your go it alone and kick a lot of *** strategy worked out. I think your awesome scales contributed also. My dominion was so pathetic I was able to leach of your growth scales a little bit.

My favorite Dai Oni died this turn anyway. He was unhorrormarked, but still got eaten by that big hero killer horror.

I will post my last turn file when we have a consensus.

Hoplosternum October 27th, 2010 01:58 PM

Re: Countdown

I don't want to force anyone to concede who still wants to carry on. I am happy to continue if others want to. But it looks like Fakey, Debaser , DrP (if he is still playing Abysia!) and myself are happy to concede and I suspect that no one else is really in a position to win from here. So unless I hear a lot of complaints we can call this one.

So it looks like we have a winner :) Congratulations TwoBits :) Maverni wins :p

Who kept losing the hammer of the forge lord? That must have been painful.

Anyways, in case anybody is curious I am going to post up my final turn.

That was me :( Stupid Horrors and stupid scripting  Apparently, a mage wont cast Returning if you forget to give them the necessary Pearls, etc...

Oh well, I was sitting on a 20% Construction site for much of the game, so that made forging things pretty damn cheap (nearly half off with regular Hammers, and almost 75% off for big ticket items with the Forge Lord's).

Anyhow, I just want to say thanks: Thanks to those with stuck with the game all the way through (or who joined very early on like Debaser8 - that was one long temporary sub assignment! ); and thanks to those who subbed in later and helped bring the game to a conclusion! I had a lot of fun!

If I can figure out how, I'll try to post my final turn here at some point.

Thanks again, everyone!

Hoplosternum October 28th, 2010 01:18 PM

Re: Countdown

:D :D well I had a 20% forge site and the Ultimate Gateway (50% Conjuration bonus) which kept me competitive even with a small income, few gems and low territory count. In the same province as the Ultimate gateway was Bottomless Lake with its 20% Conjuration bonus. But sadly they don't stack :(

But by the time I found the Gateway I was already boxed in by stronger powers on all sides and well behind in research and lands. So it couldn't win me the game. It did make me safe though, both because of all the cheap summons and because I could have used it as a threat to break up any alliance against me - as only one person could own it if I was beaten. As the weakest of the remaining powers I would obviously be the best person for everyone else to hold it if they didn't :p

By the end I was blood hunting quite heavily - getting about 90 a turn - but that was climbing. I had already bagged most of the Ice & Helios and was starting on the Demon Lords. I am not sure how strong Blood summons are though now everyone can spam Clensing Bells in CBM 1.6 I had a bunch ready for my fight with Abysia which never really happened so they never got used.

Re: Countdown

Lots of artifacts seemed to be lost. But I was obviously well behind in the mage queue as every time I tried to build one of the reappearing artifacts I failed :(

Was that the Construction site you stole from me that I had castled just over the bridge?

And, of course, the game ends just the second when I get enough gems to do something... My final turn will be: Wish: Armageddon. :P

Re: Countdown

Sorry Verjigorm I am declaring this one finished so no final wish for you :)

Good game everyone.

Especially Verjigorm who did actually try and win by the victory conditions laid down in the game - unlike everyone else who saw to win you really needed to kill everyone off first :p And for then hanging in until the end. Sorry there was no final showdown for you to take part in.
