Re: A War for the Stars
You're also helping a lot Erax.
I'll try to upload something more up to date soon. BTW it would be correct to tall turns "months" in the story, IIRC 1 starwars standard year is divided into 10 moths. |
Re: A War for the Stars
Terran year based on Earth orbital period
12 months (30, 31 and 28 days each) = 365 days SE4 Year based on "Malfador" orbital period? 10 months (30 days each) = 300 days Starwars Standard year based on Coruscant orbital period 10 months (35 days each) + 3 festival weeks (5 days each) + 3 holidays = 368 days |
Re: A War for the Stars
OK, here goes my ad hoc explanation : All Imperial personnel in this story come from a part of the Galaxy in which months are called 'tenths' ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
I wouldn't feel comfortable with a name change halfway through the story. And going back and editing every post to change "tenth" -> "month" is too much trouble. If I ever collect this story into one single text, I'll do some editing and fix this. |
Re: A War for the Stars
CODED TRANSMISSION
From: Brigadier Tefnar, Sector Stormtrooper Division To: Admiral Wiers Gesaril IX, 2404.9. All hail the Emperor. Admiral, We have just received the full ground combat reports from Aram I. Half of the First Stormtrooper Brigade - Fyrine II's full load - was lost in the battle for the planet, but that does not mean there were no survivors. Many of our troopers were wounded in action, but survived the battle and are now being cared for aboard their transport or on the planet itself. While most of them may never be fit for active duty again, they are other ways in which they may serve the Emire. They are the survivors of the most important ground battle in this sector and our greatest victory to date. I suggest we bring these survivors to Gesaril IX and employ them as instructors for the next generation of Stormtroopers. Their fame should inspire our future soldiers to even higher standards of valor. We took Aram I, but no one in the Stormtrooper Division - or the Sector - must ever forget its cost. |
Re: A War for the Stars
Nice as always, but just ho well trained are your storm troopers? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif if they're anything like the real star wars then no wonder they sustained heavy losses http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif Good entry!

Re: A War for the Stars
Seeker I, Captain's log, SGY 2404.9 (fourth part):
The Fleet arrived back at Aram I without a scratch on our hulls. We had already seen enough action this tenth to satisfy any ordinary commander, but some of my officers are extraordinary. As soon as the fighters were back aboard from the Last battle, Captain Suvent and Wing Commander Grann came over to the Seeker to show me a plan of theirs. Our carriers cannot equip more than a flight of fighters at a time for extended in-system missions. Since the remaining Yakrin ships were out of the Fleet's reach, we could send a few fighters out to harass them now or send the whole Fleet against them next tenth. Captain Suvent and Commander Grann came up with a third option. They figured we could load our fighters and pilots on cargo shuttles and send them down to Aram I, where they would be fueled and equipped at a Yakrin atmospheric fighter base which we had captured almost intact. From this base, we could equip and launch enough TIE fighters to finish the job at Aram III. It was a daring plan, but our recent victory had made me confident and I agreed to it. We notified Colonel Haakar down on Aram I, and his men began to work round the clock putting up makeshift support clamps for the fighters. In a few days, we had a major operational TIE base on our hands. We launched three squadrons against the Yakrin fleet and kept the fourth one here as planetary defense. Lieutenant Haad and his flight had to stay behind with this defense squadron, a second extended mission would have been too hard on them. Forty of our fighters, led by Commander Grann himself, are now approaching Aram III at full speed. They will be making contact with the enemy any minute now. |

Taz : please edit reply # 84 in this thread to add the following text : {/font} (use > and < instead of the brackets).
Something in that reply is making all the text after it to become red in the printer-friendly Version. |
Re: A War for the Stars
Clumsy inept poor-marksmen stormtroopers are just a myth.
These imperial elite soldiers are certainly one of the best trained, best equiped and deadliest infantry troopers in all movies. |
