Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
My only disappointment was that Tigga did not comment on my shapely legs, which were so well displayed in my shorts.
Saxon, if I had made a remark complimenting your legs, I would probably have also made a remark about how I want to come over to Kenya and give you a big sloppy wet kiss on the bottom It just is not going to happen and I would ask you to not make passes in my direction an alliance of testosterone lacking nations against those blessed with abundant facial hair, Look you silly sod, lack of hair IS a sign of too much testosterone sloshing around in the system, well known fact that bald chaps are absolutely fizzing with the stuff - put a nail on the end and with this hip action I could make it through walls!!! He is not even aware of how much he wants to grow a mustache, but we can all clearly see the subconscious signs I want a stupid moustache about as much as you want to undergo colonic irrigation, as much as Mephisto wants to join a Scorpions tribute band, as much as Mac wants an affair with Peewee Herman and as much as Gryphin wants to become a ballerina he has chosen a race of cats, which are well known for preening their whiskers Well yes, my 'cats' will be preening their whiskers but only after they have ripped your fluffy bunnies' heads off and have stuffed them up their own rectums |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Tigga,
I think Gyrphin did want to be a ballerina, I am sure I saw it on his web page. Something about spending more time with beautiful women or something like that. I will keep your comments on nailing things through walls in mind for when I plan an addition to the house, I may have a job offer for you. As for passes at you, well, the job offer is the best you will get from me. Does anyone know how long PBW is expected to be down? |

The Gryphin/Growltigga thread and I guess the Cantina all evolved from macho posturing Last December between la personne poilue and myself. It takes us 6 months to stop posturing and finally put words into action and the bloody server goes down!! Saxon, did you go to Israel in Aug/Sep 1993? you look awfully like a Canadian beer-wendy I remember from the Arizona Bar in Jerusalem |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Beer-Wendy means that you are a lightweight when it comes to drinking. It is naturally a phrase that is applied to 99.9% of North Americans who couldn't stand their ground in a decent boat race
Drinking is still something Brits do very well 1983? I was 12 years old Worst job I had was working in a pork pie making factory - pork products so fresh the pig dont know they are gone - I gave up meat for 2 years after that job Best job? driving a tractor on a farm, working as crew on a girl's only sailing holiday for posh bints, being a driver in Morrocco for a party of 17 year old schoolgirls |

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Resina is pine resin, isn’t it? How did the basil get involved, I thought they were just ruining the wine so the SS wouldn’t drink it. I have to agree that North Americans are light weight drinkers, but after a few painful months, I was able to catch up. Amazing the things they teach in English universities.
1983. Yep, I was twelve as well, but I got sent on a cruise of the Mediterranean and ended up in Jerusalem on East Sunday. I remember doing fighters doing a fly by as we got off the boat and I remember a lot of soldiers on roofs. It was an interesting trip. Best job, white water raft guide, the summer after being the cook. Girl in bikinis looking to have fun, lots of adrenaline and the best shape I have ever been in. This sounds oddly like you crewing boats with girls, there may be something we share in common. We had best stop comparisons, it may lead some degree of being polite to the other person, which would really detract from the entertainment value of this board. As you may have guest from the sudden flurry of Posts, I am tied to my computer doing the Monthly Report. I do not like doing the Monthly Report. |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Count yourself lucky Saxon, I dream of doing Monthly Reports, I am currently drafting an intercreditor deed that has a painful ratchet and a tricky standstill mechanism - I would rather defluff my navel with a kitchen blowtorch
Let's get this clear, 'Vassili' is the Greek name which corresponds to the English name 'Basil' and IIRC does not correlate to the plant of the genus Ocimum Basilicum in any stlye or form - if you want herbs in drinks, then try "Hoegaarden", a Dutch weissbier that has coriander in it Actually, you yanks call coriander something stupid like cilantro or something dont you? You are right, it must be something about women and men in boats - no wonder my hair fell out (again) I was 22 when I went to Israel - at that age, the idea of being one of 8 male volunteers with 42 female volunteers is quite a nice one - oops, my hair fell out again Retsina is wine which is stored in pine casks and therefore develops the resin-esque flavour - I guess now after a few thousand years, the Greek palette has adjusted to it. I like it and think there is nothing finer to drink on a warm Summers' evening (well, DAB lager is a close second). North Americans are hopeless drinkers and it is always good fun for us Brits to find a group and challenge them to a drinking contest! it is such fun watching a bunch of preppies throw up all over themselves! Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
But Tesco old boy, I have tried North American beer many times.
The only good stuff is the ale you get from the microbreweries (can I reccomend The Whistle Stop Brewery in Flagstaff - excellent ale) It is just compared to what we have over here!.... Well, let me just say that when I first went to North America, I was told that it was a place where you could buy anything, except for the beer and the women which you merely rented for a while |

Beer-wendy? I must admit that my year in the UK did not expose me to that term. What does it mean? My Last visit to Israel would have been in ’83. August 1993 saw me working as a cook at a white water rafting resort in British Columbia. Quite a nice job, we were out in the bush, working hard three days a week and playing on the river the other four days.
The worst job I ever had was cleaning Greyhound buses and the bus terminal. Straight out of high school and mopping toilets, it was not fun. The guy who had the night shirt was ‘simple’ and jealous that I used his mop during the day. He took to hiding it different places and I had to start each shift trying to find the mop. After a couple of days I got tired of it and hid the mop myself. He had to ask the manager to help him find it, so the next morning I got an earful, but the mop hiding stopped. |

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Mac,
If you are willing to break away from pure scientific research, you will find a pop song called “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”. It appears that I have not been kissing gnus, but have ended up in the wrong places and kissing elephants. I will endeavor to find the right places and provide more, detailed photographic evidence of true gnu kissing. However, as you will read below, my photographer Mary is being retired due to a minor issue of misrepresentation. Tigga, My blind date with Mary. Well, you are right it was not really a blind date. However, she did conceal some critical information until a critical moment, which I feel justifies the term blind. After all, usually you understand that the person you are dating is free of all encumbrances and is in a position to date you. Discovering that there is another man, just as you are finishing a nice nightcap and are thinking of other things, is not a nice thing. Being the gentleman that I am (contrary to various slanders posted on this very board), I offered to drive her home and ended up finding out where the other man lived. Tonight, with Annie, I fully intend to do a detailed cross examination early in the evening to ensure that no legal, societal or emotional bars stand in the way of asking her for a nightcap. I will also ask after her photographic skills, to ensure that Mac has a steady flow of quality data. As an aside, I am sure that Mac would have approved of Mary, despite the deception. She wanted Teacher’s as her nightcap. |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
I actually missed posting and reading here when the site was down.
Oh no. |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
My Dear Saxon,
It is always a pleasure to see that others enjoy the worldly aspects of looking into scientific aspects within ones life. I'm sure Mary had some good qualities except for her interpertation of what a real GNU stands out. I would like to know how you already had a standby waiting in the wings upon the departure of Miss Mary. hmmm, you are starting to sound as bad as the Gryphin with all these fillies running around your anatamy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I think you and Gryphin need to settle down and become calm, cool, and domesticated similiar to Growltigga and myself in order to enjoy the wonders of inner piece, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Tesco, I agree, the withdrawl I experienced from not being able to read or post on this forum was quite disturbing to say the least. I actually had to converse with members of my family for a change. The only drawback was they had no idea what I was talking about in relation to my discussions on SE4 and the Galactic Bash nor were they interested in furthering their scientific knowledge. It made for a quite boring commitment. In fact Mrs M. couldn't wait for the forum to come back just to relieve them of my lively discussions which interrupted her night time soaps. My boys just kept looking at me, except for my oldest, he plays SE4 so at least I did have some type of companionship. sigh, I hope Richard is done moving things around now, at least everything is here in Ohio, so if it goes down, I will recommend that everyone just go over to his house and inbib upon his hospilatility until we are up and running again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif be careful, be very very careful look to the sky its "THEM" just some ideas mac [ May 14, 2002, 09:44 AM: Message edited by: mac5732 ] |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Mac,
One must always have contingency plans and Gryphin and I understand this well. As it transpired, my contingency plan was better than my original one, as Annie has no restrictions on her ability and, more important, willingness to go on a second date. As for settling down and enjoying the benefits of inner peace, I will take the matter under consideration. While Mrs. Mac does seem a nice enough soul, Mrs. GT ended up buried under the garage, making me question the level of inner peace Tigga was achieving. Let Gryphin and I continue our experiments, if only in the name of science. |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Hmmm.... as previously mentioned, Mrs GT is alive and well and has absolutely no problem in rising from the grave - she is still working hard and doing her damnedest to bust our credit limits!
Saxon, good to know you are playing the field and checking out all available talent in Nairobi - with those legs you should persevere |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Tigga,
If Mrs. GT is busting the credit limit, why don’t you have a go as well and get an ASDL line into your house and have nice fast internet connections? That way you can send rude Posts to us during the evening and spend more time getting big accounts during the day. Think what it would do for your productivity, you might even be able to convince your boss to pay for it… Has anyone here used null space weapons much? I am trying to figure out the best strategy for my fleets. I was thinking 50% damage, as that should cripple most ships and then move my firepower on to more dangerous targets. Optimum range will create some distance between me and the enemy, who outguns me, hopefully limiting damage from them, but not hurting me too much, like long range might. I am in a tight squeeze in a PBEM game and if I do not get this right, I am finished. In fact, I would be happy just to cripple this particular fleet and protect my planets, I do not think I can stop it dead. |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Saxon, it makes Mrs GT very happy when she has the credit card to play with - it is almost worth the high bills for the sheer peace and quiet I get out of things - if I didn't let her releave her stress this way, she would probably be out with her mother savaging sheep... it is a public service really
What game are you talking about? I assume this is not the Galactic Besh? even Colonel Sanders (ie Gryphin) himself couldn't amass a fleet to give you a whipping that quick! I like null space weaponry, I also like high energy discharge weaponry, I also likes small fluffy kittens! Hey, I have been demoted to first lefftenant (phonetic spelling BTW) - is this something you wretched yanks are doing to get back at us english and other foreigners? Even tho Mrs GT has risen from the garage floor and is currently on a shopping spree with pLastic (thats what he gets for trying to put her under the garage in the lst place) GT still does appear domesticated, except for lapses when it comes to outside cafe's and bouncing sights jiggling by. The only ones I'm not sure of are Tesco and Mephisto in regards to being domesticated, down to earth, stay at home, no partying, no sight seeing or oogling on their off time. hmmmmm, they always say its the quiet ones you have to watch out for. hmmmmm http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif GT, in regards to everyones demotions, Richard, stated in another thread, that he was tinkering with the system to have some fun with everyone, apparently he must have hit the enter button instead of delete.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Fluffy Kittens huh, hmmmmm, sounds like you've been to Vegas..... be careful, be very very careful look to the sky its "THEM" just some ideas mac |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Saxon, in regards to Null Weapons. I use them usually later in the game. I like to use them for up close combat. I usually put them on Large Sats and used for wormhole defense. (Mix them with other types not soley null weapons). I also like to have 1 ship type loaded with Null Weapons and usually with at least 1 type of everyturn firing weapon. I use these for close up fighting and they are good on wormhole defense. I always design at lease 1 battle station or starbase with Null weapons. These again I use for wormhole defense. Null weapons, in my opinion, are good close up weapons therefore I like to use them for wormhole defenses and close up combat. In addition, I like to use weapon killing weapons. They only fire every 4 turns, but mixed in with other ships/weapons, they definitly put the hurts on enemy shipping. No weapons, no shooting.

GrowlTigga, young cub,
Yes, you could say more CTW than I ever dreamed of. It has kept me away. I've also had a sky full of bandits on my tail at work. I keep looking ror my wingman but he is busy using Point Defence Cannons on the ones that get too close. People expect computers to be: Easy, Smart, Infalable, and Perfect. Computer ar: Complicated, Literal, Stupid, and, "They do what you tell them to, not what you want" |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Well, dont indulge in too much CTW as it can make your hair fall out (look at me, I am a case in point!!) and I am sure you dont want to lose your furry fellah and locks do you!!
the "bandits on your tail" I can understand fully - unfortunately, the quality of wingmen one has these days is not that spiffing so I would advise you upgrade from point defence cannon to sidewinders Good to have you back - keep posting - I cannot lose my chief protagonist at this late date |

Mac what have to say for yourself???? |
Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Gryphin, in regards to "They do what you tell them to, not what you want them to," I must introduce you to my 733 Mechanical Beastie. It has given me more fits then there are whiskers on a tigga. I swear it has a life of its own and justs like to antaganize me whenever I must use some of the internal whatevers in order to proceed with my ambitious playing trends. Talk about losing hair...... I'm trying to quit smoking and that d... metal pile of fur balls causes most frequent relapses, sigh, maybe someday they'll invent one that all you have to do is tell it what to do and it'll do it, ughhh
I have not formented any secrets of CTW or the TGP, mainly because I don't have any.. I'm still researching this aspect of this most intriging piece of science. I have been experimenting with various theories but I'm afraid more extensive work must be done to accomplish the actual designs and rudimentary facets of this artistic form. Therefore, if the Tigga has lost his fur I would feature to say that it is due to his own attempts at resolving the CTW and TGP issue. That and possibly seeing the bills that Mrs GT has formulated due to her recent demise under the garage floor. One must wonder what one has done which created the incredible.... In regards to our game, Mephisto reports problem occured during the move, he is working on it... be careful, be very very careful look to the sky its "THEM" just some ideas mac [ May 16, 2002, 13:47: Message edited by: mac5732 ] |
