Re: Waiting for game info hang
Sure thing Lolo. Pan had a 100 turn NAP with Ermor.
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Just joking. We hardly even know where you are. But we had good relations with Pan in the past, and would hope to continue them.
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Pangea is a slave state of Agartha the Almighty. That's all there is to know.
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
I just tried to connect with the server to send in my turn, and got "waiting for information." Never could connect.
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Yeah, that's why this post has had this title for several days now. I started getting the hang last turn.
It's the dreaded "waiting for game info hang" It's quite common on IP servers with the last few versions of the game. Velusion knew how to fix it, but no one else seems to. Anyway, the work-around is to open the game in a window (-w), leave that hung window open, then open the game again in a second window. You can then log into the game normally. When you get done, close out the hung window. |
Re: Waiting for game info hang
can you just email your turn in?
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Gandalf reset the server-it works now.
|
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Ermor regrets the swift departure of Helena. We sent a delegation of luminaries, with our finest wines and tasty morsels out to greet her, only to find that she was gone. Ahh, well, she will probably be back soon. We will just have to track her down.
And Hail to our new neighbors of C'tis. True, we do not have a permanent establishment on your border, but we are bivouacked there, so we think a greeting is necessary. We also notice your driving back of Eriu. We have no great problem with that, but we would suggest that you refrain from entering the southern continent. -The Council of Ermor |
Re: Waiting for game info hang
Well, C'tis hails to Ermor. Though we truly hope that your "establishment" is not "permanent". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Waiting for game info hang
Ermor can't stop justifing his unrightful invasion by stating in all his proclamations that Agartha the Mild Mannered declared war. Has Ermor a bad consience? The future god, Helena, will judge over that matter when judgmentday comes.

the 300 Pythians
Stories will be told of how the valiant few, we shall call them the 300 Pythians, in the last defense of their homes,
starving, and cut off from the rest of the Empire, underwater, besieged, and the walls of their pitiful Kelp Fortress uprooted, had to fight off the hordes of the evil Ryleh Dynasty. The Ryleh ranks bolstered by numerous enslaved Mother Guards and War Lobsters, and too many mind blasters to count, A few brave Pythians who had ventured under the waves made a go of it, along with some tritons who desired to throw off the yoke of tyranny that the starspawns had thrown over them. Knowing that it was slavery or death, the tritons fought bravely to the last-none survived. Inspired by them the water trolls took up triton King's fallen Banner and led the way to victory. Though evil has been defeated this day, the Pythium mages know it must be faced again, because evil armies darken the horizon like locusts..... Who will face the never-ending cold brought from the dead of space to this fair world if not Pythium? Though darkness has triumphed temporarily over light, having killed many angels, Pythium's mages will continue the struggle-with or without angels at their side. |
HELENA OH HELENA!
HELENA... IS... DEAD! Agartha weeps... little comfort comes from the fact that the Ermorian siegeforce was driven off the gates of Agartha. OH HELENA! We pray for your return! Oh Helena! The Agarthian statuecrafters will gather the pieces and glue them together again! OH HELENA what shall we do without your guidance!
Btw: since about a week or so I have severe graphical glitches. Anyone else? |
Re: HELENA OH HELENA!
Our condolences on the death of Helena. We told you she could stay in Ermor unharmed.
And oh, we will take that as a declaration of War, C'tis. did you really feel you needed to bring 7 Tartarians? 4 would have probably done the trick. It was only a wraith lord and some cronies in Agartha. |
Cannot connect to server again
Is there anyone objecting to going to 48 hour hosting? With server issues this game really needs to end.
I know Ryleh had wanted 72 hours, but he only has 12 provinces now. And he is a good player. So he can do his turn in 48 hours. If not, it is not because of this game's demands on his time. Which is the relevant reference for setting the hosting time. Not time demands that arise from other games or real life. If those become too burdensome, then a sub or ai is the answer. |
Re: Cannot connect to server again
I would like 72 hour hosting. Late game with 48 hour turn just seems insane to me. BTW the server is up again.
|
Re: Cannot connect to server again
48 hour. Let's get it over with. Or all just give up.
We did that in another recent MP game of mine. We all just said, you know, this is going to take forever. Let's just call it a draw. |
Re: Cannot connect to server again
Server is back up. And I would like to thank Gandalf for manually resetting the game timer and not adding another 72 hours to the game's length.
Ctis' empire is big enough that it is reasonable to request 72 hours. I am fine with that. But I did not want the game held up an extra 24 hours a turn for a nation with 12 provinces-no offense to the ryleh who has played an excellent game. And mp games on 330 province maps take months to finish. What has been aggravating for me is the server unreliability issues. Velusion's server had issues, and his heart had long since left the game. compounding the problem is every time a tcp/ip server goes down, and is reset, the timer starts anew. Which means the time between turns is not 72 hours, but many times 72 plus 60 plus 40. It just gets ridiculous. Unless you are gandalf, of course, who is kind enough to manulally reset the timer back to where it should be. |
Re: Cannot connect to server again
Moving to PBEM shall solve most of the problems.

Re: Cannot connect to server again
My apologies to all. I am looking into the reboots. If it continues today I will move the game to the main server (dom3minions.com without the game. on the address)
But since you are discussing the host times... Maybe setting specific days and 2am would work better. That way restarting the game would not change the host time. --hosttime X Y Host on day X (0=sunday) hour Y (0-23) Something like Sun, Tues, Thurs? |
Re: Cannot connect to server again
I would be fine with 3 set hosting times per week.
Hopefully everyone can manage 3 turns a week. Sunday, tues. Thursday sounds fine to me. |
Re: Cannot connect to server again
That's a pretty good schedule (Sun, Tue, Thu). I'm on that schedule in another game, and it works well.
|
Re: Cannot connect to server again
Umm, it looks now like the game is set on 5 hours til host. I can get my turn in, but I doubt others can.
|
Re: Cannot connect to server again
Game has been reset to 72 hour. thanks Gandalf.
|
Re: Cannot connect to server again
OK the old server has some reboot problems. I think its heat. So as promised, the Fallacy game is now on the main server. So now you want to connect to dom3minions.com at the same port. Not to game.dom3minions.com

Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
What is this? I staled? I did my turn and sent it in two days ago. I respectfully request a rehost.
Ermor |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Request for rehost is rescinded. I was pissed and needed to vent. This game needs to end, and I don't want to extend it any longer.
If I stale after sending in my turn again though, all hell will break loose. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
In fact, all hell will break loose this turn. I am tired of all this. Ermor is breaking out on all fronts this turn. Caelum, Pythium, no need to worry. Not attacking you. Eriu, Agartha, C'tis, you should probably worry.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Agartha the Leaderless couldn't care less about Ermor.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
REJOICE! HELENA IS BACK! She has returned! Oh, the joy in Agartha and all the provinces of Agartha itself and the vassal nations. Never again shall an Agarthian suffer the pain and agony they felt when Helena was gone. So they gathered all in Agartha, stepped down the long hallways to the tombs and sealed the entrance. Shall the lesser tribes quarrel over provinces, gold, gems and slay each other for no good reason. Agartha has found its peace in Fallacy and so the prophecies of the stone oracles came true.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Could someone with the knowledge (Xietor???) please list the nations that are still active in this game, and who are now running them? This would be most helpful for the small amount of diplomacy still going on.
Thanks |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
I think all non-ai nations are active.
lolomo-pangaea dr p-caelum the rest are the original players except Ctis who you know. Not many nations left obviously, and Eriu is about to depart. /cry Tichy. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Check the http://www.dom3minions.com/games/Fallacy/ directory. The stats files tell who did their turns.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
AArggh. Eye shields. Damn eye shields.
Oh well, we will still bury you C'tis. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Good grief Charlie Brown, we are on turn 102.
Agartha is now dead, with Ctis having devoured the last vestiges of Helena's empire. Eriu was carved up between Ctis, Ermor, and Pythium. Good game both of you. It was fun! |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Also, though the Ryleh fights on, its fearless leader, lebarjack, has finally thrown in the proverbial towel. But he played an excellent game, taking a heavy toll on my forces. Between lebarjack and reay, they have put a fair dent in my forces.
Making the conclusion interesting, and challenging. Good luck in your future games. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
I (Ermor) am going on a short vacation from Aug 31 to Sept. 5th. Though I hate delays as much as anyone, I need to request one for that time period. Finding a sub for this game has proved impossible. The standard reply is:
"What, you want me to sub for Ermor on turn 105? You're nuts" Thanks... and sorry |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
I have no objection, especially considering that is Labor Day weekend, typically a holiday in the States.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Ermor is sad to see the death of Helena and Mr. Pennies. One was an ally, and one was a well-regarded foe. We shall take revenge on C'tis for the death of both of them.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Let me know by PM when to switch Fallacy to version 3.20
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=40396 |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
go ahead and switch to 3.20. i see no reason not to. llamaserver already did. I think all games are played with the understanding that they will use whatever the most current version is.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Fallacy is now paused until Sept. 4th, when I return from my vacation. Sorry to everyone who may be eager to get this over with (I know I am).
It will be on 3.20 when we return. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
I think the game will still host, if everyone does their turn. It just won't host again until I come back. I have done my turn, so if everyone else wants to do theirs, you will at least have something to look at while I am gone.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Hey, I'm back, but I find that my PC is totally fried now, and won't even turn on. I'm in the process of putting Dom3 on my Mac and installing all the updates, maps and mods.
Thanks |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
OK. My turn is done. Let's get this thing finished! C'tis, Atlantis, I notice you have still not done a turn. Let's go guys.
I understand Xietor (who I assume is back in New Orleans) may not have power yet, but his turn is done. |
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
Actually I wonder if anyone objects to declaring Pythium/Xietor winner? He is now rapidly taking over Caleum and even combined we are not a match for him.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
I would declare him winner now, if no one objects. But, to be honest, I could maybe beat him. C'tis could maybe beat him. But this game is getting very old. Let's wait til he is back online, and see what he says. He seems to want to keep fighting.
|
Re: Fallacy - Middle Era (Started!)
If the rest of nations are determined to work together against Pythium, then maybe or maybe not we have a slim chance. But unless that happens, I see no point continuing. Maybe I will just cast armegaddon again and again? :)
