Endoperez (who's modest) did some very nice modded heroes for EA Agartha.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi guys,
I'm 30 yrs old, from Germany and just stumbled upon this game here by chance... my last PBEM I was playing for quite some time was the great VGA Planets (3.5), but I haven't done that for a few years now. And just browsing the web for interesting games, at a game review of another game I found a comment like "nice game, although the real hardcore fantasy strategy players will most likely prefer Dominions 3." So I went out looking what this game was... Dang, from there on I was caught :p |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
lol, funny story
Sometimes the best things you find, are the ones you weren't specifically looking for ;) So... welcome Toran! |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Long time since I took a look at this thread, so welcome to everyone new! And especially to rabelais, it's always great to see veterans returning. I heartily recommend Dom3, as it kicks the pants off Dom2 in practically every area.
:) |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome, Toran!
The exact opposite thing happened to me: I went looking for Dominions, found the Disciples series of games, instead (I mistook it for Dominions-pretty game, but not quite my thing), and only finally stumbled on Dom3 by way of stumbling upon Space Empires. |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Damn, I feel so boring and anonymous just having found a nice review of Dom3 on a magazine :(
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Trust that it was less like an adventure, and more like a frustrating waste of time and money.
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I played a bit disciples II + expansions... nice graphic and moves, but the fights were terrible/ridiculous.
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Yeah I know...and sadly enough, I *think* they're the same company that did my beloved "Lords of Magic: Special Edition" Aka, the only valid successor to MoM.
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I found out about it from a Mac gaming site (the long gone insidemacgames, I think). There are so few Mac games, that these sites will review anything that comes out for the Mac. I tried it, and once I got over the 1990s look of the game, I was hooked for good.
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
insidemacgames.com still lives. As you said, given the amount of Mac gaming there is, they don't have a problem keeping up with all of it.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi, I'm 18 years old Dominions 3 player from Italy.
I decided to visit this forum because I'm looking for online games. My english isn't very good but I hope you'll understand what I'm going to write:D |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Don't worry, Asarkan, be welcome - for once you were pretty clear in what you just wrote, and sometimes an army marching into the enemy's provinces can't be misunderstood at all :p
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Ciao Asarkan! Oh, s'ha quasi la stessa eta' :D
Benvenuto!
Translation:;) Thanks Tifone for your help, I was wondering about the Play by e-mail sistem and how to enter a multiplayer match. Actually I'm playing the tutorial, since I'm a newbie, but I hope that I'll learn to play well by experience:D |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi all
I'm Live from Italy. I was a dom2 addicted some times ago (I wrote the "Liga Manuals addenda", I think several players have used in dom2 experience) ... I got dom3 only some days ago so I'm still awakening ... see you here and there in the forum ... I have seen some of the old dom2 friends are still alive! good play Liga |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I didn't recognize your name before you mentioned the addenda, but I do remember that! Welcome aboard.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome back, liga! :D

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi Folks,
I've been playing Dominions single player since March and am largely stuck with Monkeys :) I read the earlier Kailasa strategy guides (Kissblade and Dirtywick) and decided to play the game the hard way from the beginning. I'm an old school gamer who wet his whistle on Civ, MOM, MOO, and all that great TBS from the 80's and 90's. Then games took a turn for the stupid with crap AI and tons of flash. But then, everyone here playing Dominions is here for hard strategy. I've dabbled with Marveni, Tir n'an Og, and some other oddball nations, but keep going back to monkeys. I mostly play single player because of my schedule and kids etc. I'm looking for a PBEM to try soon with summer over. Cheers, Maer |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome! You'll find no shortage of games to join. :)

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
By the way, we don't actually sacrifice new people to our pagan gods if they bring themselves to our attention--well, atleast not very often...not anymore...except on Wednesdays. And mostly we just sacrifice them to Gandalf, which I understand involves drinking tea. So please feel free to join in conversations, as well as the Multi-Player games and posts your thoughts, questions, and conversation in the rest of the Forum threads.
And we're pretty used to English as a second language, honestly, so don't worry about that. As often as not, it's us English-speakers who feel left out, so it's pretty fair. I'm always happy to welcome new people to the Forums, but if you don't participate in the discussions, it kind of defeats the purpose :) so don't be shy! Be polite and respectful-atleast to me-but don't be afraid to jump in! |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hello everyone! I am new to Dominions 3. I own Dominions 2, however I played single player. I am looking to learn Dominions 3 and join the multiplayer community as well this time around. I started this genre with Master of Magic and Master of Orion, to be followed up with Galactic Civilizations, then on to Dominions 2. I hope I can make some good friends and learn alot in the process. I am also interested in the modding aspect of this game as well. It is a pleasure to meet all of you!

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome aboard Kuranes!! ;) Don't forget to read the FAQ to start, but then don't mind asking any advice to the community :)

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Patrik, from Sweden.
24 years old, currently studying to become a journalist. Have played the Dominions series since the time it was called Conquest of Elysium and would fit on a floppy disk. Enjoy all races but usually keep it real with MA Arcoscephale in PBEM sessions. Included below is a link to a list of favourite games for anyone interested: http://boards.ign.com/Message.aspx?t...49469&brd=7203 Am currently frying my brain with Dawn of war: Soulstorm. Occasionally I also leave my computer for the real world, but usually return before too long. It's scary out there. Recommend reading "Brave new World" by Aldous Huxley, the "Sandman" series by Neil Gaiman, and "The Dwarf" by Pär Lagerkvist (Anyone interested in making an Italian Rennaissance-themed Mod?). Good fortune everyone:angel PJ |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
"Sandman", I'm already reading ;)
Welcome fluff! Here's a nice place to hide from the scary world! :D (Well, you won't find ground-breaking news for your career in journalism though) |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
fluff995: I've actually considered a mod based on early Venice, but I've currently got all the plates spinning that I can handle. If you'd like to do such a mod yourself, however, I'd be happy to help with some ideas.

Good Smeelbo always helps!
I have been variously a teacher, programmer, and sales manager, but currently I am taking care of my ailing mother. I like to game, and Dominions 3 was recommended to by Frank Trollman, Ty Burman, and Brian Leonard, whom I hope to play with. I've downloaded the demo, and will try that after I get a decent sized monitor for my Fujitsu Lifebook u810, which is what I am using.
Looks like a very deep game with a strong community. Anton Dovydaitis |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome in the strong community so, mr Smeelbo ;)

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Ive actaully owned Dominions 3 for about a year now, but due to various other obligations, have been unable to play it up until a few weeks ago. After playing a few games with some friends, Im hooked.
Long time reader of fantasy, as well as Roleplaying games, and roleplaying Video games. Im also a huge turn based strategy nut. So, Dominions seems like the natural choice, right? Ive also been tinkering around with the modding system, as Ive some ideas I would like to implement, and thats actually why I decided to sign up here, as I was hoping I could absorb some knowledge from more knowledgeable people... So, that said, I hope to get to know some of you, and hope I can contribute to the greater discussion :) |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome. You should find a lot of things here to help you. For modding, the manual in the latest patch is a good place to start.
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
If you have any modding questions, I'm not the best person to ask, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
I am 20, male, electrical engineering major at North Carolina State.
I'm still running dom2 but I plan on getting dom3 for xmas, I discovered dominions on a demo disk that comes with PC Gamer magazine. I've been playing strategy games since warcraft2 (I consider it a strategy game). I still play Starcraft online but mostly the oddball games, I played medieval2 total war for a while till my laptop fried, i'm waiting on dawn of war 2 and i'm considering getting starcraft2. I've also been playing Everquest2 for a while, i'm waiting on my laptop to get repaired before I get into it again. Whenever I am back in town I like to hang out with the boys have a few beers and play Blokus (a really good strategy boardgame) and RISK. I'm actually a "casual" gamer, I just play when I dont have homework or studying to do. I'm an avid fan of Steven Erikson and Ian Esslemont they are the co-authors of the Malazan novels, I've exhausted most of Barnes & Nobles stocks of Warhammer and WH40K novels, I cant get enough of Dan Abnet and the Horus Heresy series. And I'll occasionally pick up the random Forgotten Realms book, i'm a sucker for cover art. I've had an xbox360 for a while as well so whenever I feel like wasting a few hours i'll go online with Gears of War 2 or Battlefield Bad Company and pwn some nubs. But i'm looking forward to getting dom3 and maybe going through the gauntlet of a few multiplayer games, i'm interested in seeing how a game plays out in a long span of time rather than me beating up on the AI in a few hours and making a lot of little mistakes. |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome. The way it usually plays out in a long game is that the first few (or several or even many) times you will get severely trounced until you learn enough to start handing out the trouncing. ;)

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hello,
My name is Jason but you can call me NKIcan and I have been playing this game in Single Player mode for awhile now. I decided I'd jump on the forums and hopefully jump into a few MP games so you vets can teach me The Hard Way lol. Seriously though, I've been learning a lot simply by reading the different threads. This game is pretty cool and I'm enjoying all the various nations. Currently C'tis is my favorite. Anyway, thats me. |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hey,
I have ordered Dominions 3 and look forward to being a part of this community. It's nice to see people who like to play games that make you think (by the way, does anyone play this game over e-mail? I'd like more information about how this works since I don't have the manual yet). -Dave |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome aboard!
The play-by-email is really quite simple. The host computer has a fthrlnd file used for hosting the next turn, and .2h and .trn files for all human nations. The .trn (turn) file is sent to the players, either automatically (server game) or as an e-mail attachment (PBEM). The .2h file ("to host") stores the orders the player did, and is needed to generate the next turn. If you're interested in multiplayer, check out the multiplayer subforum and look for explanation about the Llamaserver, an automated server-system by Llamabeast. There's also an IRC channel for Dominions. It's a really fast way to learn the basics of multiplayer, because several good players hang around there and often play fast blitz games on small maps. They only take few hours. You will probably lose the first MP games you join, before you have an idea about what the other players might do, and it's much more fun to lose in a few hours than slowly over several weeks. |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi all,
I'm french M 27yo. Im very new to the dominions serie (I get dom3 demo last week, played it addictivly for the WE and plan to get it soon). I got bored of civ4 (I considered myself as a civfanatic since 1991) some times ago after 3 intensive years and found dominions to be a nice mix of moo/galciv -the research and configuration at startup-, homm -the rpg aspect on commanders- and shogun TW -the map- which I all enjoyed a lot. Im also re-playing morrowind right now some so it might take some time for me to get familiar with dominions 3 and be ready for the MP challenge (but hopefully this will happen :p) which definitly seems to be the essential point of this game. A question : I was looking for game reports (turn by turn) made by some experimented players but did not find any in the MP section, are there any and where are they located (I found a french blog with one report here : http://eressildom3.centerblog.net/ru...sentation.html, Im looking for this kind of stuff). -aSH |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hey there ese-aSH, welcome! :) Found those for you to start, in Torin's old thread with links ;)
Jens Dominions 1 After action report Latifs Dom3 after aaction report Ichtarians Dom3 After action report Saint Patricks AAR Torins AAR Also keep an eye on the threads of the Chronicles games (the MA one has started, EA starting) by Lokean; ppl are supposed to write some nice pieces of literature in there  BTW, with which character did you start your new Morrowind game? :p |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
thanks a lot ! I'll look your links :)
In morrowind i'm playing an almer invocater (only armors and weapons)/alchimist with high personnality that will eventually be great enchanter in the end :) (first time in 2002 I played standart destructive/healing magicien and I had a shot on stealthy archer in oblivion). |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hi everyone, I recieved dominions 3 a few days ago and I haven't slept much since then. :) I'd like to try a multiplayer game, how do I sign up, just reply to one of the threads in the multiplayer forum?
|
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Yes that will do it.
There are also a couple of servers. The www.Llamaserver.net which is PbEM (Play by EMail) games. and the Dom3minions.com server which is tcp/ip (direct connect) games. http://game.dom3minions.com/bin/blitz_chk.cgi |

I am a 64 year old management consultant. I live in Seattle, am married, one son. My wife works in county government.
In a couple of years, I will retire. I can see that I could spend a vast portion of my retirement playing this game. I learn something new about it every day. |
Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Welcome! :D

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Greetings!
I work as a lead software engineer/systems administrator, and am also trying to finish a master's degree in physics. Started playing the demo less than a month ago - before I went on vacation from my job. Managed to keep the addiction under control until my licensed copy arrived about 2.5 weeks ago.... Now, I'm not always sure what day it is. Also, it took a little while to remember how to operate my car today, since I was finally forced to venture out on a grocery run. And, I think the total immersion might be affecting other cognitive functions as well - I somehow managed to bungle my first post in another forum thread. (Always good to shoot yourself in the foot right away....) Anyway, I look forward to playing MP games with some of you guys in the future. (Still training myself on Arco right now against increasingly difficult AI's.) Cheers. |

Re: Introduce yourself!! :-)
Hello,
I, also, am new to Dominion. I've played it twice now, as the Marveni, and lost both times. The first time went about as you would expect. I was happily and effortlessly conquering the world - until I ran into the first comptuter player. It was a lot like hockey after that, with me as the puck. It became pretty clear that if you are being out produced by another player, unless they are distracted with something else you can't beat them. You can tell me if this isn't true, but that's the way it seemed to me then. So in the second game I decided to take a more oranized approach to maxing income. I made another Pretender with Order 3, Dominion 5 and some extra levels of Nature and Earth, and then set out to cut off a chunk of the world by taking provinces in a line and backfilling with 30 or 40 PD as I went through. This worked pretty well. I was able to isolate a big chuck of the world and mostly destroy the first player I ran into. Unfortnately before he was done I ran into the other two. Let me tell you something, I'm getting pretty sick and tired of those Vanheims and their glamored units. They seem to have such an advantage you'd *think* the game designers were Nordic. Anyway, lost that one too. I guess I should have probably put this post somewhere else on here, this probably isn't the forum for it, but that's where I'm at. Starting my third game now, maybe working a little harder on research. Glad to be here. Akela |
