<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">.zip files are not unique to WinZip. That just happens to be the only format WinZip is designed to make. You can get WinRar at www.rarlabs.com

I need to add a couple of facilities for the SW mod I'll be posting later today or tomorrow.
Would it be ok to star in pic 268? or are those reserved for something else?
I also have a buch of about 50 facilities from the galactic battlegrounds game site I'll send you the pics when I finish cleaning them.
For the comps I still have place in the line _I had reserved thogh I'm replacing some of the old ones.

Re: Official Image Collection

Replace as in "with higher quality images of the same thing"? or something totally different?

They may be in use by others already.

I'll also check to see which images are still free to use tonight.

I sent SJ some 200+ facility images a few weeks back, so the slots may or may not be in use. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

As mentioned in another topic some new pictures for sphereworlds would be appreciated. I know and use picture 541 but as small image it looks just like a large ordinary planet with no athmosphere.

New Components for the Star Trek Mod. (9-16-2003)

Based off of the 1.16 components module for the image mod.

Installation - Unzip the file to your SE IV directory pictures folder / components folder.

The zip will over write older STM images, 1177 thru 1231 This is ok. It will also add the newer images 1256 through 1296 and replace the Component.bmp

Comp 1256 - 1296

It should. It has all of the images used in the 1.49.33 Version of B5 Mod IIRC.

Good question about the B5 pics. I think I will use the Image Mod in B5 2.0.

Re: Official Image Collection

Anyone is free to use these imagepacks. That's why I started collecting them; all the images for many mods, downloaded once and updated occasionally.

Keeps the size of mods down, for rapid downloads.

BTW, I've finally got my site updated to reference the new components.

IF: No not all B5 images are in the image mod. planet image 592 is not in it. This image is of an insect-ship looking thingy that is loaded as a "moon" and represents a derelict ship which may contain a tech one can acquire by "colonizing" the derelict.

Re: Official Image Collection

I've grabbed the portrait and mini from my copy of B5, so no worries there.

Uploads of imagemod submissions can be made to ftp://imagemodserver.mine.nu/uploads

You will get an error, that is expected, and is just telling you its write-only. (No read permissions and limited space in order to prevent abuse) Click ok, and then drop the file you want to send.

Yes, but unfortunately Shrapnel's uploading scripts are currently disabled. How large are the files? You might be able to email them, or even upload them to SJ's server. He will have to fill you in on the specifics.

Re: Official Image Collection

First, a big thanks to all who are part of the image mod, I love you!

Now, I was messing about with cinema 4D instead of writting my assignment for uni, and decided to try and make a few weapon component pictures for an SE4 mod that I will never have time to make, and then unearthed some facilities that I modded a year back that are made from bits of the orignal SE4 ones. All 4 of the weapons I have made so far are laser styled weapons, a couple of them are a tad dark though I think. Anyways, if you are still looking for new content for the image mod you can have these with my compliments.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb.../SE4/Laser.bmp http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb...ed%20Laser.bmp

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb...r%20Cannon.bmp http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb...r%20Cannon.bmp

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb.../Facil_253.bmp http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrewb.../Facil_256.bmp

The stuff above is the best of what I have done, and you can get the whole lot here (311Kb) - 4 weapons and 16 facilities. The blue dome with the gas around it was a 5 stage test to see which looked best, and I only ever used one of the images, so delete what you dont want in.

Facilities where done in Paintshot Pro 5 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

If you want any components made mail me with a description and i'll see what I can do, right now I just want to get experience in cinema 4D. No guarantees though, assignments are pilling up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Very few big free web hosts allow off-site image linking. Just create an html page on the server that displays the images, and link to that.

Re: Official Image Collection

I've been working on a Fantasy-based mod, and finally got the art all together. What are the feelings about including it in the image modpack? It's a lot of files (about 200 components), and I wouldn't want to add a lot of bloat to the modpack for the little gain (not many other mods would re-use the art, I suspect).

Suicide Junkie November 12th, 2003 11:16 PM

Re: Official Image Collection

Lets have a look see.
They can probably be used for one thing or another, symbolically even.

And 200 components won't make much of a dent in the Imagemod, really. Its up to almost 10 megs now.
...
Which tells me I should split the download into multiple files to make things easier.
What's a good size for dialup downloads? 3 Meg, 5 Meg?

Atrocities November 12th, 2003 11:32 PM

Re: Official Image Collection

Geeze that is a big file. The hard part is keeping all of the images in order as to NOT screw up another mod. A feat that only SJ could accomplish. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Fyron November 13th, 2003 01:25 AM

Re: Official Image Collection

But you just paste them at the end of the mini bmp, and rename them using a program with batch rename capabilities, such as IrfanView. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I vote to add those components to the image mod.

You could always use RAR files to drastically reduce download sizes... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

There are currently components all the way up to #1300.

Including both minis and portraits, this compresses to 9.9 (zip) and 8.5 (rar) megs.

200 would be less than 20% more.

IF,

Got a question about Winrar. I've had 2 files this morning saying that the files couldn't be split into smaller files. This is the first time I've seen this error message, and was wondering if it a common error, or did I just get 2 messed up files.

gregebowman November 14th, 2003 05:41 PM

Re: Official Image Collection

OK, I may have discovered the reason. I was using WinRar 3.11. I'm currently downloading v3.20. Hopefully that will work on these files.

Were they zip files? You can not make multi-part archives out of zip files, only real compression formats (rar, tar.gz, ace, etc.). http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
