David, I have been enjoying my avatar very much - thanks again for creating it for me.

If you're still looking for avatar requests, I have a possibility for you. As I was searching the web the other day, I found an image that I would love to put in an avatar (see below ). Would you be able to put this into an avatar with a starfield background, and the hourglass from my current avatar at the lower left corner? Thanks! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Oooo. Very nice stuff, David. I just picked it out of the gallery today, but I wondered what my new "inside the brain" avatar would look like "shined up".

In case you're really bored, what I REALLY think would be cool is some M.C.Escher avatars. Reflective sphere, geometric shapes, impossible figures, etc.

First, let's satisfy your curiosity..

1044575127.gif

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newup...1044575127.gif

..now about M.C. Escher.. This self-portrait of his turned out ok, but all the 'drawings' I managed to try shrinking had way too much detail to survive the process. So I guess you're out of luck!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Very nice!

I did a little searching and came up with a couple of Eschers that may survive the shrinking. Let me know what you think:

(Book cover)
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/08...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Probably the most likely candidate, as the shapes are already fairly small. I like the sphere or the knots. Here's a better Version of the bottom knot:
http://www.dmi.unict.it/~nicosia/images/escher.jpg

(3 Spheres)
http://www-rocq.inria.fr/i3d/i3d/peo...res.escher.gif
If we pick just one--the left one would look cool, and I'll bet you'd still be able to recognize the center one, too.

(Dewdrop on Leaf)
http://www.cwrl.utexas.edu/~runnion/...es/dewdrop.jpg
A close crop of the center drop would probably work out decently.

(Close up of eyeball with skull)
http://btr0xw.rz.uni-bayreuth.de/cja...p-escher10.htm
Now THIS one would be VERY cool. You'd have to crop the center pretty close, but I bet if you cropped it right around the iris you could still see the center detail.

Found a colorization someone had done at www.worth1000.com then shrunk it down:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">First, nice work, and there are lots of good stuff at the link you posted.

The b&w eye looks good, the colorized one seems to be missing the glare/reflection seen in the b&w one. I like both Versions, but would probably shrink the eye a bit more to fit it within the frame for the sake of consistancy.

..I'm going to try a few more escher stuff and see how it turns out. If any make it through the shrinking process, I'll post them.

That's pretty cool. I'll have to give that sphere a try.

That knot looks pretty cool, too. It is still pretty recognizable as Escher.

Well, my time is getting more and more limited, so I'll be putting avatar creation on the back burner for awhile. (hence the reason for renaming this thread!)

Also, here is a gif with all the different rank insignas for the various promotions.. (feel free to clip, select the surrounding red as the transparent color and then paste it on your avatars as you see fit.)

1046284610.gif
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/newup...1046284610.gif

The ranks are in this order..

Private, Corporal, Seargeant, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel, (the stars are for the different generals!) 1 star Brigadier General, 2 stars Major General, 3 stars Lt. General, 4 stars General, 5 gold stars General of the Army. The final badge is for the SpecOps people.

Cheers!

Ok, would anyone care to help me and have some fun at the same time?

First, I want to separate the 'reserved' avatars (that I did specifically for individual people)and place them all at the beginning (top) of the file. All the avatars are numbered so if you see your avatar and want it 'reserved' (place it on a protected list and therefore not available for 'adoption') just let me know the number and I will include it in my next update.

I don't plane on making any new avatars (except by request) but I really would like to get my emporium in some kind of order.

Did I mention having fun while you helped me? here's the fun part, hidden within all those avatars is 1 (one) all new never before seen avatar. If you can find it and tell me what or who it is, your avatar will be placed in position #1 of the emporium.

Just follow the link in my sig or the link in the previous post!

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars

Primitive claims 461 as his image.
Got no idea about the new hidden image, so I take a wild guess at 313.

David:
Thanks for exellent service.

Obviously, I claim number 316, since you made it to my specifications...

Thanks again for all the cool avatars!

No idea which one is the new, hidden avatar...
