I haven't really got the time to take over for LA R'lyeh for long - how long is he away for? I can take a turn though - I'll do it in a couple of hours when I get home.

Folket logged in to send me a Banner of the Northern Star which I had bought previously. This purchase is obviously more important now that I'm your next target.

Re: Victory Conditions

well, i will make sure Llamabeast sends you your banner. Anyone else having a legitimate trade with LA Rlyeh should inform Llamabeast.

Due to shortness of time until hosting, I am going to let llamabeast do the turn. I am also going to plead with Llamabeast to do at least 3 turns to ensure that i can find a very good permanent sub for LA Rlyeh.

Re: Victory Conditions

Aargh. Two problems. Firstly the attachment on the first post no longer works so I can't get the map. Secondly I don't have LA R'lyeh's password. Stumped.

Re: Victory Conditions

I still think this is pretty retarded, how is a player who is currently in the game, getting access to another nation currently in the game? Am I the only one who thinks this doesn't make sense?

If for some reason Ry'leh gets special treatment and a delay is needed to find a sub, fine. Why is it not Folket's, Evilhomer or the hosts job to get a sub? If they cannot find one the game continues, a stale or two isn't the end of the world.

I'm less concerned about a 24 hour delay as about precedence - both in delay and in one nation having access to another's info.

Re: Victory Conditions

I never looked at rlyeh's turn. In fact, had I not posted you would never have known i was hunting for a sub. So I was trying to be as above board as possible.

Evilhomer is not available and folket is ill. That is why a 3rd party had to find a sub, and it makes more sense for someone who at least has a common cause to find a sub, then someone who is at war with him.

Llamabeast is well known, and honest. It is not like i picked some unknown player who could be my friend or relative. That is one of the main reasons I picked llamabeast.

Re: Victory Conditions

Right, I got over the aforementioned problems, and took the turn.

And relax guys, I'm coming from a completely unbiased viewpoint, Xietor did little more than ask me to sub, and he only did that because Folket asked him to sort it out for him. Also I know from previous dealings that Xietor goes completely out of his way to be honest about stuff, so if he says he didn't look at the turn you can be sure he didn't. And to be honest, he'd have to look for a very long time to have any idea what's going on. It's crazy! (literally)

So guys, I've landed a little in the deep end. I just took an hour looking at the map trying to get some idea what's going on and looking up all the different banners (so confusing! and some of them e.g. different Oceania ages are almost identical), looking at all my mages and trying to guess what they were doing and so on. I've done a kind of holding-action turn because I can't work out who I'm meant to be fighting or anything!

So, I'd ask that everyone in any way involved with me (which seems to be a lot of nations?) send me either a PM or an in-game message explaining the situation. Even if it's just "not done much diplomacy but consider you a friend". And the enemies too - I would greatly appreciate your honesty in letting me know we are at war.

I'm not sure how long I will sub for. I was trying to cut down on the games I am playing, but this does look very exciting (what a cool game!), so I think I will persist for a bit. Absolute max 3 weeks though, because then I am off to Edinburgh to do a show in the Fringe Festival. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Incidentally does Folket just have flu or something, or does he look to be out of action for a while? Hope he is okay.

Re: Victory Conditions

It wasn't a cut at Xietor. If someone does access another nation, whether to send someone promised items or whatever, it just sets a bad precedence for all games in my mind. The delay would have just been a bad precedence for this game IMO.

Glad it worked out.
