You are gonna love that heroic ability. Adds HP (lots of it) and STR to commander and gives him fixed (never increases) +3 encumbrance. Getting such ability does wonders to survivability of your commanders. And its funny too. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |

http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...51108-temp.jpg Niefelheim with Water and Nature... Hmm. Cold 3 and Imprisoned, Dominion 10, one path at 9 and other at 6... no points left for positive scales. Hmm. Lowering the other to 4 would give 88 more points, or two more scales. Hmm. When he turns up, he would still have Awe and Fear, but there could be too many summons for that to have any effect. Damn. |

The new Deva pretender is like Nataraja, but starts with Blood 2, Fear +5, some armor and just two weapons... Shield of Gleaming Gold, Lantern Shield AND Standard of the Damned And Horror Helmet! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif Kailasa has sacred troops that have Awe, and they also benefit... but it's almost impossible to get a good bless with a Dormand Deva. Blood 9 Death Curse seems to still be just a Curse. The +4 Strength helps, though, but isn't needed as Yavanas already start with Str 15 and Falchions. Maybe Pangaea with Dryad Hoplites? Hmm. Panic? HMMMM. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif |
Re: Screenies!
This is actually a pretty significant discovery you know.
Perhaps morale changes should show up with different colour in unit stats? |

EA Pangaea, Lady of Love (she has Awe, N2, W1, Dom3) would also be a good candidate. Can't afford playable scales and dormant with Dominion 10, but that isn't really needed. Buy some Water for defense, forge a Thorn Staff for further +4 from Staff and to get rid of -1 from Fist... [Attack one turn][Tune of Growth][Tune of Fear][Tune of Fear]... Unfortunately, the Amazon Sorceress cast Tangle Vines at her, and without armor she died even with her Awe. It seems Fear and Awe alone aren't enough. They could make a good creature terrific, though. |

I mean, I thought that the Fear mechanism was esoteric hidden knowledge. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Re: Screenies!
Wow, ten pages over the weekend... thanks for all the screenies, Endo! I should have a nice little pic for all the nations right now. And if I'm lucky, there'll be something nice sitting on my porch when I get home.

I'm cobbling together what I can! By all means feel free to fix/add to the wiki; I mainly wanted a little pic to describe the nations linking to their specific strategy page. I'm acutally not sure if I have the complete nation list yet. I'll add what I have in the next hour or so; you can check the list of total pictures here .

Re: Screenies!
Fear was never the mystery that some claim it was, but I'll admit this new version sounds like it will be easier to understand. I'd like to know if the new fear causes enemies to make morale tests at all now, or not. If not, then it means spells like panic and terror can no longer cause enemies to rout when cast. They'll be cast one time to reduce morale, and then the only way to make them flee will be to damage and kill some of them. I imagine that fear plus poison clouds will be very, very effective.
Speaking of Fenrer, what would happen if you gave him a Lycontropic Amulet? Would his berserk increase? Just a thought... =$= |

If it required all normal slots, Crones and other beings with more misc slots couldn't get changed. If it required all normal slots but allowed varying number of misc slots, cavalry still wouldn't change. If exception to that was added (if mounted, humanoid slots without legs is also fine), it'd work on mounted but not Nagas (good?) or Divine Emperor (bad?). Size 4 units should become Jotun Skinshifters or similar werewolves instead of normal werewolves. Should bigger creatures be immune to change? What about Hoburgs and Vaetti? What about Wolf Riders and Vaetti Chiefs, who are size 2 but mounted (on wolves, no less!)? Okay, it would be hard to do. |

Google produces some scary results, though, so make sure you aren't using the "I'm Feeling Lucky" option. Really! I mean it! |

Re: Screenies!
Hopefuly not the kind of scary results you'd get by searching for Dwarf Fortress' favorite food - Plump Helmet.
(I didn't search for it myself, but saw the warning against it in the DF forums) |

Re: Screenies!
A slavonic diety. I'm not sure if the original painting was a representation of Svarog though. I got enamoured with it and couldn't resist remaking him into a pretender. Until I manage to finish a Slavonic nation he appears as a pretender for Caelum and Ulm and perhaps some others.
Some other pretenders are remade statues of antiquity. I would guess Svarog and Sarapis (Lord of Rebirth, one of my favourite gods. I once made an essay on Isis and Sarapis in the roman empire) are the pretenders most like the originals. |

Re: Screenies!
> Okay, so we know one upcoming nation.
Actually you know one nation I would like to make. I have more, about five or ten quite clearly defined and about as many diffuse ones. Slavonic nation is currently in the latter category, but that might change. I intend to get myself an Encyclopedia of Religion. 11.000 pages / 84 lbs of religious entries http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. IIRC there are several good entries on slavonic religion there for some inspiration. I havn't used it since I studied and I believe I would have to go to Lund (university city near Malmö) to get acess to it. Much better to have it in your own home http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. I once used some of the slavonic entries in an Ars Magica campaign with a story set in Riga. |

Hmm, actually wood is more resistant to fire than flesh, but out of conventions sake it might be a good idea to make the fetish susceptible to fire. |

Re: Screenies!
A trickster can be modeled plenty of ways. After all, Air magic uses illusion to conjure up Phantasmal Warriors and Mirror Images. You'd maybe give them Glamour to indicate their face-changing abilities. Etc., etc.
And a spider god doesn't have to be -big-, per se. There's nothing that says a god has to tower over everyone and there are examples of gods taking on very normal mortal frames. I just think, given the amount of spider worship that goes on in Machaka, that they should maybe have, you know, a spider to worship. ;-) |

I just noticed something very, very, very cool. Jotunheim Skratti. They are Skinshifters. They are shapechangers. Don't believe me?

Re: Screenies!
Frej here had a Blood random. In Skratti form, he has W2B3. In Werewolf form, considerably less. Frej also happens to be much older than most Skrattis, but this doens't hamper him in his stronger forms.

Re: Screenies!
Here's some UI stuff. Some of it I just discovered myself.
http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...52025-temp.jpg |
Re: Screenies!
And a comparison. Also, notice the gems, season and your pretender's name in the top-right portion of the screen. The reason for the name? Click on it to instantly go to your pretender! You get to the province where he is, and he starts as selected. Actually, I'll take another pic to show you some of the other options and replace this one.
.... There! Now, notice the arrows? They are of different colors. Ygg has grey arrow, because he's sneaking. The name of my pretender, Brage, is red because I had my mouse over it. I had just clicked on it. Brage was automatically selected. My scout from the first turn is in the third neighbouring land province. The scout icon is a triangle with an eye inside it. http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...52027-temp.jpg |
Re: Screenies!
And a third one! No pressing I anymore! Actually, that whole command has been removed from map view. Terrain is now visible straight from the screen, and so are the defenders. The unit icon shown on the map view is the one most numerous in that province. Lion Tribe Arhcers' icons aren't shown, because there aren't enough of them. I'm not sure how many units of the second type have to be there for them to appear in map view, but it's more than most independents have on default settings.
