Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
All the more reason to get an Amulet of Health +6, or a custom item for some other slot if you don't want to give up your Amulet of Natural Armor. You should ask Jack what equipment slots you have that wouldn't be affected by changing between dragon and kobold forms and which ones would not have a price increase for a mismatched affinity. If he rules that most magic shops wouldn't make the custom version you want or you want to save money, I could craft it for you, though I'd expect you to pay both the money and xp costs.

Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
I already know what slots. Gloves, unfortunaty, isn't one of them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Of course, my accuracy does increase by +9 points, so it's not all bad. And if I'm about to die, I just pop back to normal.

Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Well, if you're willing to pay 50% extra, it can be done for a slot with the wrong affinity or as an extra ability on an existing item. Going by how Jack handled my combo Ring of Evasion/Sustenance, though, we'd have to find a druid with Barkskin to help if I did it with your Amulet of Natural Armor. He might agree to waiving that requirement if we charge the 50% extra on the constitution bonus even though it's the more expensive ability, though.
For trying other slots, a cloak, cape, or mantle shares the protection affinity with amulets and an Amulet of Health certainly does not fall under the other affinity of amulets, discernment, so it's a no-brainer that the affinity matches there. If you have a Cloak of Resistance, I could enhance that no problem, I satisfy the Resistance requirement as well as Bear's Endurance. If not, I'm sure we could commission something that would fit both a small dragon and a kobold without much trouble. If a paladin can swing a big sword in melee without being hampered by a cloak of charisma, it's not much of a stretch, if any, to imagine a cloak that doesn't get in the way of a dragon's wings. |
Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Yup, I already have a cloak. And it's form-fitting to boot!

Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
So, 18000 gp, 1440 xp, 1/4 the gp price of the existing resistance bonus in gp and 1/50 in xp, plus the charge for using the crafting portal, and I can add a +6 constitution bonus to your cloak, giving you +3 on fort saves and +45 hp.

Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Ooo. Me like. But that's going to stretch my money kind of thin. And I really don't like those XP costs. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
It isn't too bad. I just lose 15 HP, that's all. Actually, Strength was my main dump stat, constitution was average. |
Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Keep in mind we still have quite a pile of loot to sell and we left off last time right outside that blacksmith/magic shop just about to sell it, so you're about to get quite a bit more money. If you really hate the xp costs that much, you could try to hire it done for twice the gp cost I quoted. That would be subject to Jack's approval, but he seems pretty lenient about this sort of thing.
Edit: Derrel should probably consider something like this, too, if he doesn't already have a +con item. Adventurers can never have too many hit points - makes it a lot harder to drop you to unconscious from full in one round, and gives the healer a little more leeway. |
Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Who cares about the healer. WORK HARDER, SLAVE! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
I'll just get a smaller HP boosting item. Maybe +4 or 2. |
Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.
Let's see....
Dragon body slots: # One headband, hat, helmet, or phylactery on the head (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One pair of eye lenses or goggles on or over the eyes (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One amulet, brooch, medallion, necklace, periapt, or scarab around the neck (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One vest, vestment, or shirt on the torso (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One Barding on the body (over a vest, vestment, or shirt) - (lost in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One belt around the waist (over a robe or suit of armor) (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One cloak, cape, or mantle around the shoulders (over a robe or suit of armor) (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One pair of bracers or bracelets on the forlegs/arms (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # Another pair of bracers or bracelets on the rear legs (lost in Dragon -> Kobold transition) # One ring on each hand (or two rings on one hand) (stays in Dragon -> Kobold transition) A Constitution Enhancement is a protection item, and would be matched on a cloak chakra; you would need to find a Druid somewhere to add the Amulet of Health effect to the existing Amulet of Natural Armor (but that wouldn't be too terribly difficult). |
