AT didn't I already send you a guide with all that info? I'm sure I did but if not email me and let me know. Also I haven't received those screen shots.

If you aren't aiming to join in the political intrigue I really don't see what the game has to offer to you. Honestly there is no strategy element at all. There must be a reason for sticking around as opposed to letting your nation expire. So what is that reason; why do you bother to keep playing?

For additional game help and information such as getting over the infra jumps try reading over this thread. It covers trade sets too.

Thanks AZ. I got a PM off an admin today that said they were going after Agent_Zero, and I, as AgentZero got caught in the crossfire. I've recreated my nation, and the admin said they'd provide whatever assistance I needed to get back up & running, so I told them to just give me a buttload of infrastructure and money. Not sure how much I'll get out of them, so I'll wait & see before requesting any help from the Protectorate.

By the by, I've decided to be fairly ruthless about getting my bonuses, so I'm after those resources that will get me what I want. I have a pending agreement for Aluminum & Marble, but if anyone in the Protectorate has: Coal, Gold, Gems, Iron, Oil, Rubber, or Silver and wants to lay their mits on some Lead & Lumber, send me a proposal & we'll get ourselves sorted.

Your resources are lead and lumber. What is your main export, pencils? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

At least Iron and lead is useful to churn out bullets.

I like building something up from nothing. (My favorite start for SEIV is single planet, low tech.) I'm curious to see how big Fiducia can get before someone notices it. I also feel a sense of loyalty to my alliance and my trade partners.

I played Nation States as well; I dropped that when the events got too repetitive. I agree that CN is more detailed than NS. I didn't join the UN in NS for much the same reasons that I don't read the CN forums.

Would someone be interested in being a middleman for a Technology purchase through me?

I have someone who wants to purchase 40 Technology.

We can discuss the fee.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Well, I got a generous donation of money and infrastructure from the admin, I guess. I've bought a harbour and a couple banks, and a big swath of land, since my population density was ~5k per square mile, which seemed like a lot. I've bought as many soldiers as my population will support. Now I'm wondering what I should sink my money into. I've got around 2mil, should I just dump it into infrastructure, or what?

Atrocities July 26th, 2007 10:02 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

YES go for infrastructure and wonders like banks, schools, universities and stadiums. Congrats on getting back up and running. What are your resources? Oh ya, pick up at least 25 top of the line fighters and buy some Tech.

FARK this isn't a forum for CN game diplomatic discussion this is a forum for the game Space Empires 5 and this is an off topic thread in that forum. I will have to ask you not to discuss possible inflammatory topics, attempt to recruit, or conduct diplomatic negotiations here. If you want to chat about CN, trades, game mechanics, items of that nature by all means nock yourself out. I personally am not a mod for this section of the SE5 boards but I assure you, if anyone comes here and attempts to devolve this forum into the type of flame wars the CN forum gets they will be promptly warned and their name reported for a temporary or permanent ban!

Welcome to the SE5 forums, do you also play SE5 or did you just come for this CN thread?

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

I just came for this thread, because we were looking to make friends with our fellow Aqua alliances, and when I enquired in game about whether or not the Wombat Protectorate had any off site forums I was told that most of them hang out here.

I had absolutely no intention of starting any flamewars at all, but if, as you state, diplomatic negotiations are off-topic and unwanted here then I will settle for just saying "hi" and heading off.

I suppose this does raise the question of whether non-WP members should be directed to this forum at all.

Uh oh, it looks like the Wombat Protectorate has hit the big time.

Eyoonia is being tech raided by a member of the GOONS alliance. GOONS is one of the biggest alliances in the game; I don't think there's a whole lot we can do to defend against them.

(BTW, my nation is Fiducia, not Eyoonia. I routinely monitor Wars Across the Globe for attacks on or by WP members.)

No stealing WP members here please, I like having that kind of attitude in my alliance(which your still welcome to join)

Also WP isn't under attack by the goons just ey, its a tech raid ey wasn't being very active and I can't say his military was up to snuff so don't worry to much about it. If something big happens I will be the first one attacked http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

capnq August 23rd, 2007 07:36 AM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Actually, it occurred to me that the GOONS might just be punishing Eyoonia for leaving the Black Team.

And just because I monitor the wars doesn't mean I do anything about them. Eyoonia's total defending casualties are more than ten times the size of Fiducia's army. We've occaisionally sent token peacekeeping troops and reconstruction money to allies who've gone into Anarchy, but otherwise we consider our defenses an insurance policy that we'd prefer not to file a claim against.

I watch the wars so that when the hammer falls, I know who was holding the nail.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Government put in anarchy, lose loads of troops and tanks. You lose 1/4 of your air force. You lose 150 miles of land and 150 infra points. The worst part of all is that it totally wrecks your economy for 6 days counting the day the bomb dropped. For example I went from a gross income of about 2.9M per day to making just a tad bit over 300k per day. Needless to say you never collect income during nuke anarchy. Man am I glad I had a cushion saved up for this war.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Yes, he could have expected to have made out better in his attacks, but that's the flunky results the combat system frequently produces. It could just as easy be the other way around next time. Fact is, even with those poor results he made out okay. His losses against you cost him around $750,000 tops. At his level the tech he captured was worth at least $500,000 and the land he captured was worth at least $1 million. He didn't peace out because of the results, he do so because this was a tech raid. You do a blitz, capture what you can and then try and peace out. He gains whatever he can capture and when you accepted his peace offer,he doesn't receive any return damage to his nation. And if you attacked back, he may have had a couple of buddies join in. That's the textbook raid, get in quick and get out quick. It clears the slot so he can attack again. There are raiders who have done this 10 or more times in a day. Unless you have approached his alliance about this attack and demand reparations, what's to prevent him from doing this again tonight? Or tomorrow. And if they think they can get in a free set of attacks without any reprisals or the paying of reparations and simply peace out, what's to prevent them as an alliance from picking other members for the same treatment.

The Wombat Protectorate has 20 members with a combined strength of 120K. The WOLFPACK has 110 members with a combined strength of 920K. What do you expect us to do about it?!?

Beck, are you a member of WP? If not, then why do you care?

I am really getting tired of other people lecturing on how this game "ought" to be played. Especially when their advice boils down to "let's you and him fight".

I do not want to be cultivated as cannon fodder for other players' political machinations. I do not want to wade into the cesspool of lameness that is the C N Forums just to keep apprised of the game world diplomatic situation.

WHEN the munchkins take notice of the WP and decide that we're easy pickings, we're going to be ground into the dust. My main interest in C N is seeing how much I can build up my nation before that happens. Drawing unnecessary attention with futile public posturing will just hasten armaggedon.

Beck September 2nd, 2007 01:26 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Sorry for caring. I've been reading the posts of the people in this thread for years and you get to care what happens to them. I won't let it happen again.
i wasn't trying to lecture you, I was trying to warn you. I wasn't suggesting you attack the Wolfpack. What I was suggesting is there is a certain protocol that is followed in situations like this. Most alliances do not want their members raiding other nations in alliances. I would have attempted to find out if the Wolfpack is one of them. They would then rein in their member and insist on reparations. Do want you want though. I'll take my leave of this thread and no longer post here.

You would be surprised by what happens when you ask in private. Most alliances are fairly civil and polite when you approach them with a touch of courtesy. By the way, you should be thankful that Beck took your butt chewing as nicely as he did otherwise the WP would be dead by now. Also if theres any shrapnel community members who haven't started Cybernations but are interested let me know and I can walk you through getting a nation setup and a large aid package to get you started.

Edit: Also some of you smaller guys in the WP this alliance I attacked has a bunch of small members that are just begging to be comepletely messed up by you guys so if you've been waiting for an opportunity to attack someone nows your chance.
