Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.

As you may have noticed, I'm not entirely comfortable with running a paladin (Specifically, the religious aspects of it).

Although I could continue on just ignoring those aspects of it, I would rather play a character which I could play more fully (Which would be fairer to the rest of the party, too) - And I came up with an idea for a swashbuckler(Complete Warrior)/Duelist(DMG).

(Don't mind the excessive formality - Not significant of anything relevant. I think my left brain is writing this)

In addition, there is no need for Derrel to drop immediatly. He can simply ride off into the sunset when it wouldn't disrupt the GM's plans.

All this is, of course, contigent on the GM's approval.

Also of consideration would be paying off Derrels' debt to the party.

I don't mind the changing of the guard, so to speak, but I don't have access to Complete Warrior for the Swashbuckler segment.

Is it possible for us to have the roleplaying session a day early next week, so as to not conflict with Christmas Eve? Friday some time. It's winter break, and the day before Christmas Eve, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Or maybe every night for a week or so. Shorter sessions, more of them. Mostly I just want to find out if the gem has any benificial effects...

What level will he start at?

I don't have my copy of Complete Warrior handy to check for sure, but this site matches what I remember of the Swashbuckler class. It also matches what this article on WotC's website says.

Hey. I'm supposed to be the quick and agile one, not the fighter. Why can't people ever use the base classes any more.

Null: Not really; things will be rather hectic on my end, due to Christmas and New Years; next session on, oh, probably January 7th.

Narf: Derrel's walking out under his own power, so his relief comes in with his XP total. (which should be a couple hundred XP below 16th, If I Recall Correctly)

Douglas: That should do, assuming Narf can confirm it matches.

Null: Because it gets him into Duelist one level before he could otherwise do so - Tumble isn't a class skill for any base classes with full BAB, so he's either getting it entirely cross-class until he has five full ranks (7th level makes maximum cross-class ranks at 5, a requirement for Duelist, so he couldn't take Duelist until 8th), or he drops at least one level into a class that doesn't have full BAB (which delays his BAB progression, so he can't meet the BAB+6 requirement until he's already 7th level, so he couldn't take Duelist until 8th). The Swashbuckler gets Full BAB and Tumble as a class skill, so he can meet the requirements for Duelist at 6th, ready to take duelist for 7th level.

Re: OT: Narf has gone looney and wants to GM.

I actually don't think things out that much. 'Hey, Swashbuckler and Duelist go together' was about the extent of it. At least, in the pre-planning. And the only other class I looked at was 'Dwarven Defender', but I wanted to play a talkative character. And one that wouldn't be stuck in one spot.

Yeah, that seems to match.
