I'll sell a Winged Helmet and/or a Bag of Wind! Ready to ship. Say the word. I could use the money since spies have disturbed my subjects from their productive labors.

This would have been a *perfect* opportunity to use the new Marketplace section on the game's webpage!

Proposition 30

There's a new proposition over on the wiki, entitled "Expansion of the Sea War", which is, I believe, the first proposition to include a logo.

Also, there are pearls involved.

Please go vote!

I just didn't want to try to cut in on a deal that you two seemed to have already agreed on. In the future, though, you might be able to get a lively bidding war going in the marketplace.

Puffyn, very nice logo. I take pride in being the D.

Turn 52

Turn 52 has been sent. Machaka staled.

The next turn is due Tuesday at 8 PM EST.

ARGH! Should have been Turn 53...

Turn 55

Turn 55 has been sent.

It was delayed because Atlantis sent the wrong file and the Machaka file failed to work. Machaka managed to fix the file problem with a new email, but I never heard back from Atlantis. Thus, Atlantis staled, as I could not wait any longer.

The next turn is due Sunday at 5 PM EST.

The Panther March 5th, 2006 09:14 PM

Turn 56

Turn 56 has been sent. Caelum and Ermor both staled.

The next turn is due Tuesday at 5 PM, EST.

Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 56)

I'm sorry folks to say that, but I must
request for the game to be put on hold! I'm looking for a replacement player for Machaka !

Atm. I'm self-employed and I'll have to undergo some minor surgery soon. Ambulant, I hope. Nevertheless, my working shedule is already messed up, and I can't simple take a sick-leave from several projects I'm committed to.

As you may have noticed, I already had some stale turns, either from being unable to do the turn in time because of acute pain attack or being under pain killers, or because I was simply still doing some serious work which got delayed.

Especially unfortunate is the fact that writing all the diplomatic messages I intended to send around turns out to be real hard work which I can't bear atm.. You may have noticed English isn't my first language, and to write elaborate treatises, carefully worded diplomatic messages or simply role-playing on the wiki board is not that easy for me.

Again, I'm sorry. But the only alternative would be to turn the nation over to the AI, which I'm reluctant to do because this tends to ruin the game for the emidiate neighbours in one or the other way.

Thanks.
Stefan

Sorry to hear, Stefan. Good luck with the surgery and hope you get better soon.

Good luck with the surgery... I hope it turns out well. Don't feel bad about the game. There are far more important things than Dominions... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Good luck with it Stefan. I'm glad to see the word "minor" - and I hope it will have make for a major improvement for you.

Arralen March 9th, 2006 12:23 PM

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5

Looks like we don't get a replacement player soon. My suggestion:

Let someone of the players with only a handful of provinces take over for me.

Btw., thanks for your good wishes. I still have no idea how things will go on - ask 3 physicians what's wrong and you'll get 3 different answers. What is sure, though, that 2 wisdoom teeth which didn't "break through correctly" have to be dug out. I'm really looking forward to that. And maybe some more cutting & poking in the maxillary antrum (looked that up for you http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif ) because they can't figure out if the sinusitis is allergic or not.

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5

Over in the General forum, Shovah volunteered to take over Machaka. I don't suppose Arralen left his password with any 3rd party, though.

puffyn March 13th, 2006 12:47 AM

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5

Perhaps, to increase the odds someone would be willing to jump in, we should propose an amendment to the Wyrm's charter granting Full Dragon Suffrage, to wit:

Proposition XX: The right of the citizens of Orania to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the Council or by any Wyrm on account of dragonhood.

That way, any sub would get the full, wyrmalicious experience of bickering about arcane rules and propsition sub-clauses that we Wyrms so enjoy.

There is always the Master Password, a wonderful word of power that unlocks all doors. It is currently in the hands of the most honourable chancellor - that is, myself.

But the MP is a word of great temptation as well - I hate to think of it being given to a player, as they can then look at all nations turns. (Possibly not so big a deal with pbem, not having access to all turn files.)

Yup, any player with the Master Password should not get any other .trn file. A slightly more drastic approach would be to systematically send individual mails to all players, so that nobody has access to any other .trn file (that would prevent a "hey nice replacing player, care to tell me that Master Password?" situation). So long as it *isn't* TCP/IP, the Master Password can be used to "recover" lost problems; in TCP/IP, it won't do much good, unless TCP/IP servers create logs somewhere.

There should be other ways to work around the problem (getting the files from FTP/HTTP, say), but the basic principle remains the same. Not that it will be necessary this time around.

Cainehill March 15th, 2006 04:21 PM

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5

At a week from the last turn, it seems shovah isn't taking Machaka over. There's a limit to how long a game can be kept on hiatus and still have all the players around and interested, so it seems like something ought to be decided.

Arralen March 15th, 2006 04:35 PM

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5

He has taken over.
Just heard from him 1.5 hours ago that he finally got the unzipping of the files to work ok.

Guess he's reading the messages and notes now and looking into the turn.

So the game should go on within short time.

See you, folks, and have fun !

Send the ".2h" file - easy way to remember it, is that it stands for what you send "to host".
