Turn 59

Turn 59 has been sent. Atlantis has staled.

The next deadline is Sunday at 5 PM EST.

Jurri March 23rd, 2006 10:23 PM

Re: Turn 59

Those graphs sure look unlike anything I've ever seen in a game... What a freaky-looking situation!

Oh, yeah, I'm the third head of Lord Pasha (ah, the ever-surprising anatomy of wyrmkind!), currently residing over the kingdom of Ulm while the other two heads hibernate for a couple of months in someplace warm. You got a beef (a beef, as in a COW) to pick with Pasha, you come to me!

Wish March 23rd, 2006 11:44 PM

Re: Turn 59

I notice the graphs say that rlyeh is losing their war, probably the first wyrm to be permenently removed from council, soon.

The Panther March 24th, 2006 09:33 AM

Proposition 32

There is a new Proposition for wyrms to consider:

Re: Proposition 32

Proposition 31 doesnt seem to have a quorum... and yet it has been marked as passed.

Wish March 24th, 2006 01:35 PM

Re: Proposition 32

Whoever marked it as passed was in the wrong, then, as a quorum is required, and whatever action was acted upon an unpassed proposition, must be rescinded or the nation would have to face roguehood.

Morkilus March 24th, 2006 01:39 PM

Re: Proposition 32

Actually, according to the main page, there are two dead Wyrms, making 14 possible votes; apparently there were seven votes by the deadline, making quorum.

Suli-Krom, Vice Chairwyrm

puffyn March 24th, 2006 01:44 PM

Re: Proposition 31 and the Quorum

There are 17 races in the game.

There is 1 dragon with no vote.

There are/were 2 Wyrms listed as being dead during the voting on Proposition 31.

This leaves 14 eligible Wyrms. The quorum rules state that at least 50% of these must vote. 7 votes were cast before the first 24-hour period expired. I therefore ruled that the proposition passed.

The only problem I can see is if one of the dead Wyrms (Sak or Oothoon) is back from the dead and has neglected to tell us.

Morkilus March 24th, 2006 01:55 PM

Proposition 32

The new proposition is definitely... interesting. Despite the position I've already taken on Man's temple-building practices, I'd like to see what other Wyrms (especial Ygorl) have to say, hopefully before the quorum deadline.

Suli-Krom

The Panther March 24th, 2006 08:12 PM

Re: Proposition 32

It made a quorum, but barely. Seven of the 14 living wurms voted in the first 24 hours.

That is assuming that Sak is still dead, which we all believe to be true.

puffyn March 25th, 2006 12:09 PM

Re: Proposition 32

Please note that voting for proposition 32 has been extended since no quorum was reached. It now closes approximately 21 hours from now (see the wiki for the exact time if you care).

The Panther March 25th, 2006 05:47 PM

Re: Proposition 32

I have withdrawn Proposition 32 and will put up a new one soon that has basically the same idea but is not so harsh. I will be going out for dinner tonight but welcome any suggestions as to how to make it less one-sided. I would like to post my new proposition either late this evening or tomorrow morning.

Please see the words of Ronan on the COW site.

The Panther March 26th, 2006 12:57 PM

Proposition 33

Proposition 33 has been posted for consideration of all living wyrms.

The Panther March 26th, 2006 09:06 PM

Turn 60

Turn 60 has been sent. No one staled! The next turn is due on Tuesday at 5 PM EST.

I will be going rogue either this turn or next. I am doing this so my other neighbors besides Man have a shot at grabbing my territories before Man gets them all. Read Ronan's words on the COW site for more information.

A note to Kir'Doq of T'ien Ch'i: You had better get your proposition posted up soon for me to keep my side of the vote trading bargain before I lose the power to vote by being rogue.

Once I am eliminated (should be quite soon), I will be turning hosting duties over to Yorgl, who has graciously agreed to take over hosting since I really do not want to keep hosting without playing in the game.

Wish March 26th, 2006 11:19 PM

Re: Turn 60

man's prop didn't involve taking you out completely, that would make man rogue as well.

RonD March 27th, 2006 12:14 AM

Re: Turn 60

Pangaea chose the "All-out war option". So Council has already given permission for either one to completely take out the other.

The Panther March 27th, 2006 01:52 AM

Re: Turn 60

Yeah, it was pointless to simply lose a bunch of provinces and then be even weaker than I already was. I would far rather fight to the death. More fun that way!

Besides, I am really, really busy in my new job. Working much longer hours and SO much to see in our Nation's Capitol. I think even if I lived here all my life, I could not see it all. And I have already lived here more than a total of 7 years of my life.

There is no possibility of Ronan stopping the Wrathful Skies + Living Air attacks. Heck, I don't even have an answer to the three Harvester of Sorrows. Especially since I am not past level 5 in any magic school.

So, the bottom line is that I am not at all unhappy about getting crushed. It's just a game anyway. Though I must say that I have really enjoyed the Council thing.

im suffering from the same problem. what neighbours do we share?

ps: i know i have no vote but can i lend any support in catching the responsible player (not sure bout in your case but in mine i think the disease spreader can fly)

puffyn March 28th, 2006 02:52 PM

Re: Turn 60

I had something in one of my provinces for two turns spreading disease. This was a province bordering both Machaka and Abysia, so I assumed it was one of you two (sorry). When I get back to my computer with all the saved turns on it I'll post the province number and which turns I was afflicted. If both of you could do similarly, we could perhaps identify which direction he is moving and if there is more than one of them.

That's because they didn't do anything except kill my own population until two turns ago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

It is a shame that you nabbed the screenshot right when I'd just summoned him, before he got his proper name. Much less thematic this way...

djo March 28th, 2006 08:10 PM

Re: Turn 60

We suppose that was a confession...

In any case, we have seen a trio of these creatures operating near our borders in the Man/Pan war, fighting under the sign of the tree.

Ygorl March 28th, 2006 11:10 PM

Re: Turn 60

Wait, no... I've got three of them, and they've been sitting in my land for the whole game until Pangaea and I went to war. Since then, they've been fighting Pangaea. Definitely not a confession.

I've never sent a single hostile unit into another Wyrm's territory, except for Pangaea (and I'm saying this out-of-character). No stealthy preaching, no assassins, no hidden armies, nobody who spreads disease... Nothing. I don't know who's been infecting your folks, but it wasn't me.

And I just realized that it was Cainehill complaining, not djo! I'm a bit confused, but I guess djo was misinterpreting my message as a confession to Cainehill... Anyway, my three little Banh Sidhe Lords (along with all my other nasties) have been, are, and will be confined to my nation except when I am fighting with someone else (and then they'll be confined to my nation and the nation I'm fighting with).

The Panther March 29th, 2006 09:09 AM

Turn 60 Delay

I have received all files except for Abysia.

Just to let everyone know, Turn 60 hosting has been delayed until sometime this evening. I am still not sure where my files went on my laptop, and it is going to take some digging to find out. Propbaly something with the problems I have been having with Outlook on my laptop. (I hate Microsoft!)

Actually, I was thinking of giving the fatherland file to Ygorl and let him take over hosting since I will soon be reduced to fighting a losing guerilla war and may be not be long for the world.

Otherwise, I will attempt to figure out what is wrong and host late this evening. I am tied up in meetings until fairly late this evening, so we are in a day+ delay right now.

Indeed we did.

Our nation has not seen unexpected disease, nor do we care to. Whilst our own denials of undertakings of covert operations against our neighbors may lack some credibility at this point, we will merely note that as our chosen dominion suggests (Diabolical Faith), we have not pursued the necromantic technology to summon Harvesters. They are not ours.

Ygorl March 29th, 2006 01:10 PM

Re: Turn 60

...if indeed they are harvesters. Might be harpies or dark servants or who knows what, equipped with little charms. Or even, perhaps, a heliophagus!

Dun-dun-dunnnnnnn!

As far as hosting goes, whenever you're ready Panther. If you've got any tips or tricks to make it less onerous or more likely to work, I'd appreciate them. I will move the deadline for turns, since I am almost never home at 5. It'll either be late morning or night-time EST (EDT, soon). I don't think it matters much, but if anyone has a strong preference, I'm open to suggestions.

Do you use a Mac? If so, I think Pasha has some scripts to make things easier.

Re: Turn 60

I do use a Mac. I'll hit him up.
Thanks.

The Panther March 29th, 2006 11:49 PM

Turn 61

I attempted to send out Turn 61 this evening. No guarantees that it was done correctly since my Outlook refuses to work properly on my laptop. Also, I have no way to check if everything was done to 100%. Finally, if someone did not get their turn file, there is absolutely nothing I can do about it until I get home on Thursday evening.

Because of all the problems and the lateness of the current turn, the next turn is due on Sunday at 5 PM EST.

I have an extremely simple Automator script for the Mac. It creates the emails (using Mail), addresses them (using Addressbook), and attaches the proper turn file. I am happy to share it, and I suspect that Ygorl could make it work even better! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Turn 62

Turn 62 has been sent. The next deadline is Tuesday at 5 PM EDT.

Since Ronan is not long for the world, wryms need to put up any propositions that you want me to support while I still can.

I will be posting a new proposition quite soon, if I can get some spare time in my hectic life.

Turn 62 Proposition

OK, I wrote the proposition instead of watching a movie...

A new proposition entitled "The Destruction of Pangaea" is open for consideration of all living wryms.

In this version, it is.

Re: Turn 62 Proposition

In the old days when everyone always took 2-3 misfortune, baleful star was no big deal. But with the CB mods, people are taking luck frequently. In my opinion, this is why it has become a pretty good spell (especially against a luck-3 nation). I have used it recently in some games too.

Wish April 3rd, 2006 12:15 AM

Re: Turn 62 Proposition

the strength is not in the misfortune, or even the curses. the strength is that it causes unrest, and being cheap, can be spammed like crazy to reduce your enemies resources/income.

Exactly. The other effects are pretty negligible, but is the 30 unrest effect which almost everyone seemed unaware of until the spell became cheap enough people were willing to give it a shot.
