I am up to 183 and wonder if anyone has got to insanely large numbers |

You can make the list of names much bigger, since they're picked at random. That way you won't have exactly the same set of names every game.
To post the file, go to Shrapnel Games' Forums, then New Scenario/Mod Forum. This kind of list would go on on the Space Empires:IV Data/Sound/Graphic thread. Post a reply to that thread, then click on the tiny File Upload link on the left side of the posting form. After the file finishes uploading, the window will give you a long UBB code to copy and paste into the message body, to make the link for others to download the file. [Edit]And, as Shyrka said while I was typing all the gory details, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif you can paste the final link to this thread, too. Well, an ally in one of my PBW games got up to 538..but he stole most of his http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I had 176 that game, with 63 forts as well. Most of them in one central warp nexus. Phoenix-D |
Re: OT: How old are you ?
I've posted here before but I'm older now than I was then=-)
I'm 25 years old, and I live with my girlfrind of 7.5 years in sunny Bournemouth on the south coast of the UK. I commute to Portsmouth (about 60 miles) every day to do a rather dull customer support type job for an engineering firm. I spent 3 years living in Coventry in the Midlands and about a year in France and Italy as a student, and I've been pining for those beer-packed, care-free days ever since... How Old Am I for SE IV Forum
How old am I? I guess you are talking chronologically, (most folks will tell you I never grew up). I’m a Creative SWM 47, I like turn based 5X games, (the fifth X is refers to my X wife), Hikes in the mountains, and Photography. Oh, I almost forgot, this is not a personals site, * sigh * are there any female 4x gamers out there?. Cardboard: My fist game was Tactics Two and Blitz Krieg from Avalon Hill. That led to Panzer Blitz, and Squad Leader. I found Star Fire and Gev but no opponents. I spent hours creating spreadsheets in Lotus / Excel to make the game more manageable but still no humans to play against. I loved Star Fleet Battles till it got just too complex. Miniatures: During the same time period I developed a love for Micro Armor, (1/285 - 300 scale). I played on squad, company, battalion, and regiment levels using modified WRG rules and eventually a set of very complete rules called * Impact * written by a colleague of mine. Computers: In the beginning there was a void. It was years before I found Empire and could run it on my 4.77 Mhz computer with 4 colors. I played it so much I burned my fiancés pea soup. One good thing led to another. My systems got faster, my marriage got shakier, and the games got better. They I still have Empire Deluxe, Civ II, Populous, Lemmings, My all time favorite game was Civ II. My most satisfying victory was “buying” the world with spies and blockading tactics to cause revolts. While looking for a web site on “Star Fire” the paper Version, I found SE III. My gaming skills got even better, my marriage ended. Sound familiar anyone? About 2 weeks ago I acquired a SE IV and have spent at least 40 hours playing it. Bonus: no wife to nag me about waste my life away. Note: I have very poor vision, I only see about 5 inches across on computer screen at reading distance. I also have trouble with blues on black or red and any variation there of. This is a major issue when scanning a system for ships and the colors blend. It does make it more of a challenge. * wry grin *. Hope this gives folks an idea of who I am. |
Re: OT: How old are you ?
I'm 35, but my gaming experiences probably parallel most of yours:
Played SFB until they issued a whole new edition to make the game more expensive- er uh 'consolidate the rules'. I was like 17 and couldn't afford to buy games I already had because somebody wanted the ECCCM with extra drone pods, or whatnot. Played Starfire when it came in baggies. Again a brilliant game runined by SFB dropouts who decided to mod it to death. went into hibernation until computer games came up to the level of the classic board games, and now I'm back. No Ex-wife, just a slightly harried, but very understanding one, and three kids who are getting quality time with dad by 4x ing the galaxy with me! |
Re: OT: How old are you ?
I’m 34 and feeling older. but at least there some good games out there.
