The OCS (which BTW, is now a "protectorate" of the Wolfpack) acceding to the Wolfpack's blackmail demands is one of the reasons I don't trust your judgement.

If you're so keen on "good sportsmanship", why don't YOU do something about this protection racket? I'm sure the WP isn't their only victims.

We didn't cave to any blackmail. Wolfpack doesn't blackmail any one as they are an honorable alliance. We made them an offer, they accepted. Through that contact we became good friends and that blossomed into what we have today. That is good leadership, the willingness to take steps to protect your members nations and provide them with the best chances for success.

And for the record, Wolfpack has a hell of a lot more going for them than you give them credit for. They have my loyalty because they earned it. I have nothing but respect from them because I have gotten to know many of there member nations. What happened between WP and Wolfpack was unfortunate and I am sorry that you cannot see past your own anger and distrust to see the larger positive picture that lays before you.

Enjoy the pounding. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The bolding was added by me for added emphasis.

From this response of yours, I take it you are one of those alliances who enjoy beating the crap out of nations then sending them messages saying "hey, if you join us we'll stop beating the crap out of you! Good deal eh? Oh, and if you don't we'll pound you into the ground just for the hell of it. Have a nice day!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that surely is the impression I get from this post.

Again your lack of complete insight amazes me. I thought for sure after reading your post I would stop laughing, but it hasn't happened yet. So please excuse me as I take the evil alliance that I belong to and leave you and your group to your fate.

Now, feel free to use your god-like moderator privleges to kill this post, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if you do.

My record as a moderator speaks for itself Renegade. You of all people know this and it hurts me greatly that you would imply that I would abuse the privileges that Shrapnel has extended to me.

Any time you feel that I have abused my moderator position, I would hope that you would contact Shrapnel and let them know.

END MODERATOR MODE

As for the your attitude here Renegade, well lets just say that I apologize for pissing you off. CN is just a game like any other. I thought I was doing a nice thing, but like with all good intentions, they come back to bite you in the ***. So again, you and your member nations are on your own. I wish you all well.

My apologies, I was out of line when I made that comment; it shall be edited out of my post. My anger got the best of me, a condition I attempt to prevent from happening, but sometimes fail at.

To you, lack of insight, to me, common sense. Lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Please don't think that I speak for all the members of the WP, I only speak for myself. Perhaps you were attempting to do the right thing, I don't doubt you did have good intentions. However, your attitude came off arrogant and condescending, which is what really set my temper flaring, as such things seriously piss me off.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

I normally only check these boards once a day.

The only reason I came back the second time today was that I got an e-mail notification of a reply to a PM I sent.

The only reason I've come back a third time is that I'm still too ticked off to concentrate on any of the things I normally do to chill out. I have been having a "bad day" for most of the last two months.

Out in the real world, the holidays are always a rough time for me. This year in particular, I am in the middle of a near "perfect storm" of stress, and I do not need my hobbies to make things worse, rather than help.

I'm glad to see that at least Renegade understands my viewpoint. Otherwise, I don't think anything that anyone has posted since my last rant deserves the response I'm tempted to give it right now.

(And don't anybody dare say that they hope things get better for me, because I have no realistic expectation of that happening before December 30th, at the earliest.)

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Might as well chime in...

To capnq: Sorry you feel that you are forced into a leadership position you do not want. If I had logged on before you did, it would probably be me that declared on the raider (along with a "hey, not cool, quick attacking us" message sent to the raider and whoever looks like alliance "leadership"). Then, I would probably be in even worse shape than I ended up, probably being beaten to a pulp in the offensive war and the three defensive I ended up getting, but oh well, that's just how I play. As it was, I didn't log in until I was already hit by three others, and in no shape to do much of anything.

To capnq and Renegade13: I think the three of us are in agreement about sticking with WP and avoiding the rules of other alliances. Requirements to change team color, mandatory forum participation (I visit enough forums as is, thankyouverymuch), crazy MDP obligations, and there was even one that required members to never leave... EVER. No thanks.

To Atrocities and Strategia: Glad your alliances are working out for you. It is just not the right thing for me. Every time I look at the whole political side of the alliances in CN, I am astounded by how juvenile it all is; I feel like I am going back to junior high, and not in a good way. The only alliance I would even consider is one that allows me to communicate through PM, with the occasional IRC session, without needing to join forums, an alliance that is ok with me not being around daily (being gone for weeks at a time if necessary), an alliance that has zero agreements higher than ODAP, an alliance that doesn't care if I keep my color and the trade agreements that I am happy with. Show me the alliance that allows me that flexibility, and I'll consider joining. So far, the only one I've found is WP.

And to all: It is a game. Do try to get not so worked up over things. It is supposed to be fun. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

--edit: And when I log in, I see someone else from Nueva Vida has attacked Ragnaroc... I had already warned one of them that what they were doing looked an awful lot like forced recruitment, which tends to be looked down upon, and they should back off. Seems now they haven't taken the hint. I'm taking screenshots of the evidence I have now, if the stuff doesn't stop I'll be posting it and let them deal with whatever consequences may come their way.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

I pretty much stopped the game because it comes down to conditional etiquette. As for the wolfpack attack on WP to me it was pretty much cowardice, but to others it's just a "part of the game" because we appearantly lacked the cohesiveness to "properly" defend ourselves.

Either way it wasn't worth my time reading the forums to discover the countless etiquettes involved in a game that allows you to grow stronger by paying money as opposed to actually working at it.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Arrg you people have dragged me back in here again

1. Wolfpack is not an honorable alliance atrocities their attacks on me fully sactioned by their leadership yet contrary to their charter and following extortion is more than enough evidence of that.

2. Please stop fighting over this stupid browser game I know for a fact every single person in this thread is above it you just need to step back for a minute and look around.

capnq December 5th, 2007 07:33 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Despite my best intentions to not even look at this thread until I cool off, replies to PMs keep dragging me back.

A second Nueva Vida member has piled on Ragnaroc, but Ragnaroc has not replied to my original inquiry about whether he wants help, and has been inactive now for nine days. Even as steamed as I still am, I can't justify a punitive counterattack by Fiducia if Ragnaroc has already dropped out of C N.

Will January 10th, 2008 03:18 AM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Hmmm, dusty thread...

Anyway, things seem to have calmed down with Nueva Vida no longer attacking (or recruiting...), and the holidays. My nation is at 3999.99 infra, and I've decided that's a good spot to hold for a while. So what I'll be doing is sending out aid packages to the Wombat Protectorate, starting from the bottom. It looks like I'll be making nearly $2.5 million per day (after bills), so I'll be able to send out aid fairly often. The plan right now is send $3 million to Singularity on Sunday, then another $3 million to Tyyria on Tuesday, with the rest of the cash either buying myself some more tech or land. Then sometime in the week after that is Fiducia, Ragnaroc (if active), NarbozaLand, and Hevordah Hive (if Ragnaroc inactive). By then 10 days will elapse between the first $3 million to Singularity, so I'll go 'round again. Basically until all of WP is closer to parity, or we get raided again, or I decide to start growing again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Don't waste your money on Land. That is pretty much rule number one for the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Buy Tech.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Sigh. I was planning to let this thread sink under the weight of my rant, and start a new one if there was any WP business to discuss. At 60+ pages, it's getting hard to navigate.

I'm surprised that the two expired wars with NV are still coming up on the Search Wars page; it looks like they only purge the database after two months.

Will January 10th, 2008 01:18 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

The wars on the global screen seem to be tied to your local war screen; if you delete it on the local one, then it disappears from the global, which is why the three wars against me are no longer there.

As for the thread, if you want to start a new one, as long as the friendly neighborhood mods are ok with it, so am I. I only use this one because it's there, I use "backwards" threads so long threads are no problem, and this forum has a tradition of epic threads http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

capnq January 10th, 2008 11:00 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Aha! That explains it, thanks. I haven't looked at my local Wars & Battles screen since peace was declared. I've just been monitoring things with the recently added Search Wars button in the alliance box.

(Didn't notice this part when I wrote my last reply.) So do I, but it's tedious to refer a non-member to a particular post and say, "it's currently on either page 2 or page 59", since I don't remember which order the display defaults to when you're not logged in. I don't trust cut & paste of complicated URLs like these to actually link where I want them to.

Looks like PE Shang's nation is gone. He hasn't done anything with CN since mid December. I wonder what happened. I wonder if the flood up where he lived negatively affected his family in some way. I hope he and his family are well.

Will January 20th, 2008 09:46 PM

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Well, first round of aid has gone out. $12 million sent out, couldn't send 15 because of some trade troubles, and had to buy a trade deal. Looks like I am about to lose another one, and a much more serious one (Fish/Wheat, +16% population, which is basically +16% income).

That's going to be much harder to replace, so I'm saving up collections now to make the 4k infra jump and get some more happiness improvements before I lose the trade, since it will take some time to find a replacement. I'll appear "inactive" for several days, while I build up tax collections to buy enough infrastructure to make up for the increased costs (looks like it's going to cost me $16 million).

I should still be able to regularly send out $3 million when my aid slots refresh though, it just might not be >$1 million/day.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

Just joined. AT, whats your country?

Servee is a tiny, under developed, and new nation at 1 days old with citizens primarily of Mixed ethnicity who follow mixed religions. It is a backwards nation when it comes to technology and many refer to it unkindly as a 'Third World Nation'. Its citizens enjoy freedom from high taxation and as a result tend to earn more money. The citizens of Servee work diligently to produce Lumber and Gold as tradable resources for their nation. It is a very passive country when it comes to foreign affairs and has no interests in war. Servee is currently researching nuclear technology for the use of nuclear power plants but believes nuclear weapons should be banned. Servee has no definite position on drug use in the country at this time. Servee allows its citizens to openly protest their government, even if it means violence. It has an open border policy, but in order for immigrants to remain in the country they will have to become citizens first. Servee believes in the freedom of speech and feels that it is every citizen's right to speak freely about their government. The government gives foreign aid when it can, but looks to take care of its own people first. Servee has no definite position on trade relations.

Thanks for the help AT. :angel This gives me some time and the ability to search out trade partners to best fit my resources. When I'm up and running a little stronger I'll join your team. Right now I will remain independent, seeking my fame and fortune.... :D

Randallw, what country are you???

Atrocities September 27th, 2009 03:41 PM

Hey if you reroll to get better resources let me know and I will arrange another aid bomb.

Re: OT: Cyber Nation

I've got Lumber and Gold. I have a trade for Jems and Spice right now. I need lead and oil for High Tech and the lead for scholars, Then with silver and coal, I'll have fine jewerly (which I had but the trade was cancelled), That would be a pretty nice combo of trades. BTW, when it comes time to join a team, which one is the current one from here or the one to join? I looked for the wombat protectorate but I think it's gone! :(

PS: I'm on "DIAL UP" for a while as comcast raised my rates and I told them to stick it!
So write me at CN so I don't have to go looking at all these sites which take forever to load....
