Re: MBT's
I know you're very busy at this time but, was still surprised to see your POST #157 in "Ukraine OOB..." .
Though for the record I don't feel you saw the following or maybe just forgot them so again refer back to the first line above. The first you actually did respond to concerning the T-84 in which I provided very viable FOC date for both the T-84 and M-80 APC. Your response asked if I meant it for the Ukraine instead of me posting it for Croatia. Page 187/Posts 1869 & 1870. On LEOPARD 2A7A1/2A8 please see Page 189/Post 1881. From ref. 1... "The Leopard 2A7A1 serves as a bridge until the production of the new Leopard 2A8 variant begins, with first deliveries expected by 2027. The A7A1 version was developed to incorporate the Trophy active protection system without making significant changes to the Leopard 2A7V tank's structure. " "Therefore, the A7A1 is expected to be slightly heavier than the A8, because the Trophy system needed to be integrated into the existing turret rather than a newly designed one with additional equipment." Both of the above statements on their own merits are suggesting there is little to no difference between the LEOPARD 2A7V and the LEOPARD 2A7A1 but TROPHY. And you also have the following... "Apart from that, the A7A1 variant is similar to the A8 variant, which will soon be delivered to many European countries, becoming the standard tank for NATO European nations. It's noteworthy that the purchase list includes countries such as the Czech Republic, Croatia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands." From ref. 2... "MAIN BATTLE TANKS-A MARKET ON THE RISE" "Apart from that, the A7A1 variant is similar to the A8 variant, which will soon be delivered to many European countries, becoming the standard tank for NATO European nations. It's noteworthy that the purchase list includes countries such as the Czech Republic, Croatia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands." Hungry has also expressed interest in those tanks. We are not at this time dealing with a "Super Tank" which is why I haven't submitted either for the following... 1) Germany only recently received the first built LEOPARD 2A7A1 tank as noted above. 2) Besides the fact I've been following and posting on these tanks and others for years now, it takes time to ferret out what the differences between these tanks and the newer versions of others (LeClerc LXR which is on track to meet FOC before the others.) involved. I do expect the LEOPARD 2A8 will have a new turret as the refs. are referring to it but, this IS NOT fully resolved yet. I did last year (Near end I believe.) make a very through update on all the newcomers yet to come in this Thread. I believe it might lie between the above ones MAYBE I listed at the top of this page [b]some might find it useful. The caveat is to be mindful that it was written before it was disclosed that the END is now 2030. Even with that I believe one or two might be outside that window. Because I don't post all the time doesn't mean I'm not tracking don't forget I tracked ARJUN, ALTAY and ARMATA and a couple of others for well over a decade and a couple I'm still doing so Oh yeah, a thing called the AJAX as well. All the rest are just "more flies on the ointment" If not sure just ask I most likely already have the information someone might want. :D :p ;) I have issues to address, so have a good night! Regards, Pat :capt: 11/26 EDIT: Contracts signed M-84/M-80 APC should be in Ukraine just arrived. Date as above for should be good to allow for transitional training. https://www.armyrecognition.com/focu...nks-to-ukraine |

Re: MBT's
Good to know my "WHATMAKESSENSE-A-METER" still works once in a while. :D
Also... Czech Republic: More LEOPARD 2A4 tanks on the way. This will be the 3rd batch under the "Ring Swap" trade that saw Czech T-72 tanks go to the Ukraine. I don't believe I've seen this in such a manner as this. That WAS ONE DAM FINE SALUTE. It made me feel honored. With that said, I extend this to all of you that have served for the various countries in our community. https://x.com/espn/status/1867983843...9551783ei%3D49 |
