Re: NEW -- Space Empire Galaxies

hmmm... I'm VERY interested, but the link in this thread to the mod seems broken. Can I get it anywhere else?

Uh oh, now I'm having trouble downloading Fyron's Quadrant mod, which I notice is also hosted by spaceempires.net... Problems?

Ok, I definitely cannot access spaceempires.net. Is it possible the problem is at my end, or should I just try back tomorrow?

It seems that spaceempires.net is down at the moment, but I'm sure it'll be back up in a little bit or at least by tomorrow. There's no serious rush, the game isn't slated to start until 1st Oct.

Hmm, it seems that Tesco's site is down too. I wonder what's going on? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

10 players have signed up for the first game.

5 spots are left now.

Oh dear. I was getting Tesco's site, although it was extremely choppy. Hope everything's alright there. I also hope that you won't mind if my empire is a human culture. I know homo sapiens is prosaic, but I have trouble getting into the role of aliens, and I don't think folks would enjoy it as much if I tried. I'll make one more go at getting the mod, then call it a night.

nnnnope. Definitely no mod for me today. And I was all excited too... Thanks anyway, Kwok.

Honestly, my biggest problem is coming up without a name that doesn't sound stupid. Also, it seems that there is still trouble down spaceempires.net way. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

The irony is that I haven't played Space Empires in about two months, and I haven't posted here in much longer. I happen to look around just in time for something cool to pop up, and a divine bolt of lightning strikes spaceempires.net.

Oh yes, names are such a pain to make out. Random generators might be useful there with some changes afterwards. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

As for history, you could consider such questions: for how long your species has been developed? (That is also the length of their history) Were they people waging wars or more peaceful folks, asking questions before killing? Did they discover space travel centuries ago or was it only a recent discovery? Were there changes in the society, the behaviour, the beliefs, along the course of history? A turning point in history?

I tend to believe the Biologic part is the hardest, what can you say about the organism of an alien species? There isn't much to say usually, except if your Empire is featuring subspecies for instance. Or perhaps I am not imaginative about such fields. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: NEW -- Space Empire Galaxies

And look at your race set up. Basically your using the description to explain the who , what , where and when of you race. THe why will come out in game play.

Or you can just copy one of the current ones out there for the 200 races around. Cut and paste one together. THen as this game goes along update it.

Does not have to be a novel. Just something to read during contact. And for how to react during rp.

For Race names... I like using city names from other countries. Or Famous People from other cultures. Hence the Vassili. Which is based on a Russian Genreal who was involved at Stalingrad and also the name of a famous sniper. So all the names of people and planets and cities are all Russian names from ww2 era.
