For the record, I could careless about what a person owns, or does for a living. I do think that driving and talking on a cell phone is bad mojo and should be done sparingly, and I for one like SUV's. No jealousy is a word that a yuppy would us to defend against facicious comments such as the one I made. Yuppies are people to, and they have feelings, as proven by the fact that they all have a shrinks number on their cell phones speed dial. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif [ October 16, 2003, 23:12: Message edited by: Atrocities ] |
Re: RIAA
Back on topic,
I have just read that the RIAA has released its own P2P programs and that these programs install "media revenue" spy ware on your PC. This way the RIAA can track what music you have on your PC and were it got it from and where it was sent. That this software embeds itself in the music file and travels with the file. This way the RIAA can say that a specific file orginated on X machine owned by so and so with the serial number and any system info it can obtain. I did a sweep of my system with www.pestpatrol.com software and sure enough I had a media revenue spy ware on my pc. That spy ware has since been deleted. If the RIAA has released its own P2P software than any one who uses this new software will be setting themselfs up for one big fall. To be safe, I would not use any of the newer P2P programs that have been released since the beginning of the year. |
Re: RIAA
if the government did that, there would be 'invasion of privacy' screams.

Trust me, there are plenty of invasion of privacy screams. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: RIAA
Whew, thank God, Atrocities, that we are back on topic, that you are a cynical bastard, and that you don't hate me because I drive an SUV (is an 87 Ford Bronco II considered an SUV?) and talk on my cell phone (I do try to avoid it while driving.)
I have been reading quite a bit about the RIAA and their current tactics. Being an amateur guitarist and writer I can respect not wanting to see my works traded about the internet without my consent. Unfortunatley, the RIAA has neither the artists' or the consumers' best interest in mind. I recently had to reformat my HD and have yet to reinstall a P2P program. I'm thinking I will go a while and make a list of songs I haven't gotten yet, load a program, dl the songs, delete the program, burn the songs, and take the songs off my HD. I prolly won't be buying anymore music from anyone belonging to RIAA. Maybe we, on this forum, could set up a list of MP3s each of us has and do a little swapping of our own... oh wait, I hear someone knocking at my door and my firewall is detecting someone trying to hack my computer...
