Re: Retrofit Problem

Every so often I get bitten by that one myself. Recently I converted Organics to Minerals unknowingly on a planet with repeating orders. After several turns, my organics were getting low and I had lots of minerals so I converted some minerals to organics. Then after a few turns, my economy went down the drain. Boy did I feel stupid when I found out that I was converting organics to minerals and back again each turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

I also had a planet with repeat orders on resource conVersion. When I cleared them Last turn, the retrofitting worked great. Thank you, Asmala for your assistance.

I didn't realize before that if you have a planet with repeat orders, such as launch mines, and then give it another order, such as convert, that the new orders are added to the repeat queue.

Well, roll me in sugar, flour and egg and bake me at 200 degrees for twenty minutes, then call me a sweet cake!
I was the cause of the bug all the time, now it's verified.

I had so good income so It didn't make any difference on the balance;
away with all resources of one kind (don't know which) and then try to retrofit and then receive plenty of income, never knew what it was.

This sounds to me like we need some sort of more obvious notice of either planets repeating orders or the 'convert resourcs' command specifically. Maybe a log entry?

We'll call it the "HEY, STUPID" alert. Believe me I've done the same thing with the same results. ... I think I'm getting used to being called stupid. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Well dang Ruatha, I feel stupid too. I didn't see it when I looked, even though someone else had mentioned that as a posibile explanation.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">The new beta patch gives a log entry for resource conVersion. Not specifically repeat orders, but at least now you get a log entry so maybe you will notice when you get them every turn.

Also, right now there is an orders tab in the colonies window. You can click that and scroll the list looking for "convert resources".

I do not see any advantages to having more than one converter. Except for messing up the economy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif . Is it normal to have more planets with resource converters, and what good is it for?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Backups. What if that first planet gets glassed and you are relying on converting those 600k surplus orgs and rads per turn from your monoliths to minerals each turn so you can have 100 more ships? A backup or two is a good idea, and it costs a tiny fraction of the facility space in the empires as a whole.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">And a converter can only convert 1000K per turn. In one game recently completed I was using 3 converters ... because I had to!

Re: Retrofit Problem

Can you convert several orders in one turn on one RC?
I have two converters, say I have lots of minerals but shortage of rads and orgs, then I let one do transformation to rads and one to orgs.
I guess I could set up two consecutive orders at one RC but I've never tried it..
