Re: Alternate Registrations
PCP was a Tribes clan I founded with a couple of friends. Over the years the tag PCP stuck to mean and since I belonged to so many forums at one point a lot of people began to recognize me as PCP. I wanted to drop the PCP tag after the clan disolved, and started just posting under Atrocities. I have used the Atrocities name, alas, whatever, going on nine or ten years now.
PCP stands for Population Control Police. In the hieght of Tribes 1, a PCP tag in a game meant for the opposing team known defeat. On many cases when there were more than two of use, we would have to split the clan between both sides or people would simply start dropping from the game. In one game against the Kindred, a clan of heavy cheaters who used hidden coded exploits in a mod to cheat, three PCP players, including myself, kicked their cheating asses all over the map. They cheated and racked up kills, but we took their flag and kept on taking it until we won. There is nothing more frustrating than to play against people who cannot die, and never run out of ammo or enegry. When a heavy armor GodHammer can stay in the air for more than ten minutes at a time, normally they can only stay air borne about 10 second before running out of power, then you know your playing with a bunch of underhanded momma's boys. PCP earned the reputation of being a clan of force. Our small numbers where put to the test in a clan vs clan game. Six PCP players against ten members from a rival clan, LAPD. It was a tough battle but in the end we held on to victory and I had the highest kill ratio in the game with the least amount of deaths. I achieved this by playing as an Engineer and setting up boobie traps in our base and at the enemy base. I also sniped many ah LAPD right out of the air or off of vehicles. It was a bLast. But like all good things, it came to an end. I still fantisize about playing Tribes, and when I do, I am often in the top 3, most often number 1 spot at the end of the game. The people who play now just don't have the skills or knowledge base that the old players have and since there is seldom and elite player playing, one who does not cheat or use modded in exploits, the challenge level of players has fallen considerably. It is like a master machinest making a part from scratch on an old lathe and mill, while a bunch of the new guys stand back and watch in awe. They never knew that one could do so much without a CNC machine to do it for them. (Sorry CNC, no pun intended.) It amazes me that SEIV has such a strong community and momentum after all these years. Most games just petter our naturally within a year or so. But not SE IV, it is still going good and for the most part looks healthy and strong thanks to the members here and those who play the game. But one day I will be on another forum posting about the hay day of SEIV, telling stories of great victories and horrible defeats to those who will read my Posts. All good things do come to an end, regrettably. |

Post count really does not mean much to mean. Many of the best people on this forum have less than a 1,000 Posts, some even lower than 500. So post count mean jack compared to skill and knowledge. However, the top posters here are also equally knowledgeable and hard core dedicated to the game and community. The king of course is Fyron. Or would Fyron be the President? If that were the case what would be my position? Obviously very high, most likely Head of the Joint Cheifs or Supreme Military Commander. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I obtain in make believe what I wanted in RL. LOL, I am pathetic. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif |

personally, i think i'm contributing. people find my Posts funny; at least, some people have said they have and nobody's complaining. and i'm enjoying them. yeah, some good member's of the forums don't post much. but post count, to me, is just an(other) excuse to act goofy. cheese? personally, if someone wants to have an 'i've-been-here-a-while-party', i'll go along. I'm a General! does that mean i can order the lowely peon's around? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif [ January 09, 2004, 10:56: Message edited by: narf poit chez BOOM ] |

Re: Alternate Registrations
I switched my ID from Captain Spoogy after I started making a new race based off my old Captain Kwok character I came up with some years before for some cheesy computer game I made. It's the same character as in my avatar now, and I'm now making a much more detailed Version of him at the moment.
Captain Spoogy was after my cat Spoogy - which has nothing to do with a certain reproductive substance btw - but actually was my handle that I met my wife on the 'net with. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif |
