if your temporal the temporal vacation services works great.

But I usually drop troops.

i.e. open warp point and bring in the troops to stop the rioting

Re: How do you stop Rioting?

For some reason I rarely see riots in my newly acquired planets, but I did have a few in one of my solo games. When it happened I turned around an invasion fleet of 30 dreadnoughts plus some other ships, moved it right over the planet and dropped a "Homeworlds Expedition Unit" on it, that's a large transport worth of large troops. That calmed down the people in one single turn.

The Last riots in one of my planets I just drop 100 small Troops. After this the troops do theyr work and gradually better the mood of my peopel.

Re: How do you stop Rioting?

I like my method the best.

I send over about 5 transports, and upload the traitoris filth and then expell them into space. Once the planet has only a million population left, I abandon the planet. Later, I will move a few ships in long with a transport full of my people, and re-establish the colony. The ships in orbit will reduce the chance of the colony going into riot mode, and even if they do,the fleet will eventually quell the riot and I can then build Pacification centers.

Hope this helps.

Hey all,
Very nice game! That out of the way. Does anyone know how to stop rioting? I took over 20+ planets and left troops on each of them. Almost all of them are rioting. Two of the systems has Urban Pacification Center III's. I would think that after I took them over that they would work for me. I don't see any other ways to control/modify the happiness. That was one benefit from SEIII that was lost. Any ideas?

Have some patience. There will be results, it just depends on how many troops you have left. When I drop several hundred troops on a planet and capture it, I leave ALL of them there for the next turn and the planet is always jubilant next turn, even if it was rioting when captured. So, if you aren't getting results fast enough use more troops. At least 20 per planet.

Well, I didn't look at the date of the original post. I just noticed the thread bouncing up to the top of the list. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif If the post is that old then troops might not have had the happiness effects yet. I forget exactly which patch this was added in.

One game I played a race with -20 happiness, -50 tolerance, - 7 or -10 on reproduction. ( Organic, Temperal ) ( I was playing a society of subgated immortials )

It was a hard game. No Reproduction. Unhappy to Angry was the Norm for all planets. I used troops extensively. To keep the population under rap. I had 3 fleets of 8 med transports and 1 warp ship. Very hard to keep everyone under raps until the Temporal Vacation Services III came on line. Then it still took about 3 years to make the masses happy.

I think I stopped about 30-50 rebellions.
