There is no RP involved in a 1 v 1 game. I am not really too fond of the 1 v 1 setting. This is why I dropped out of KOTH. I shall consider your proposition.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well, 2 remarks...(or maybe 3...seems to be that way for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )...before I begin the read...I want to be sure I know the pronunciation...I'm anal like that. I want to pronouonce it like this: "kahz - HAR - ee - ee". Is that right? (I like names).

Saying you shall consider the proposition seems, to me, like a person scared about accepting the proposition, yet wanting to project the image of not being scared. However, I think you to be a person of straight-forward comments and will classify this remark as one of a person who is too busy (other games and school work) to commit.

Not to "pressure" you into a match...you should know I try to keep my game slots to a set level...and therefore, will not be able to let this be an open-ended challenge.

As we say in the south (that poor section of the US), "Poop or get off the pot!" (Well, that was the nicer Version... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )

Well, we are getting a few responses now. And, of course, it becomes easier to vote as the number of votes accumulate. Easier to vote a difficult vote. The number of votes makes it easier to vote while maintaining a bit of anonomity.

Thanks in advance for your participation. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Well, all you long time hotshot SEIV players should join the Zeta Qudarnt game, which, becuase of the structure of it, will be very competitive...and work it out that way...

Re: [POLL] A Tough Poll To Conduct (or vote in):

BTW, I posted the 2 questions for a reason. You may think about it when voting.

I wondered who people thought were the best players. And I also thought there might be a difference when a person had to list whom they would prefer to play with.

In other words, I think everyone likes to win. BUT, for an example, I'm not sure I would want to play with a person who dictated the entire game plan to me..."Do this, DO that!". Yeah, maybe we would win but to be a puppet might not be in the interest of everyone...win or not.

To give a recent example...a team effort with Alneyan and myself. Though our ability and Ratings may have differed a bit, I thought (think) our discussion on tactics and research, etc. was such that we both felt like each of us played an important part in the game outcome.

There was a game in the past where 3 of us challenged 3 others. In that game, I took a "supporting" role. Used my racial points to the advantage of my teammates. This is the point I am aiming for when I ask about who you would like as an ally. This is NOT to say I am the greatest ally around (and am certainly not trying for votes)...I'm just trying make a distinction between who the greatest (in opinion) players are and who you would prefer playing with in a team game.

Does that make sense?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I usually pronounce it like "kah - zahr - ee". The "z" and "h" mix together to make a slightly elongated "z" sound. The two "i"s just form one hard "e" sound. Kazharii spelling is weird like that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I like weird spellings. This is why I tend to use design name files like Adunaic and Kuzhdul (they are in Design Names Anthology). I should get around to finishing that Kazharii design names file...

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Far too much schoolwork for my own good. :-\ I have cut down to just 10 PBW games! I swear!

Well, kind of...we are a bit together in Anklebiters. However, just so people will not feel left out, Georgig (whom I felt really lucky winning against), Alneyan, Parabolize, and Lord Chane are just a few of the people I thought about when making the list. Mark the Merciful is a very good player also...but he has disappeared.

So, I could only list the people I had some "history" with. That's why I said it was a tough poll to conduct and a poll that I wondered if people would respond to as well as if such a poll had ever been conducted.

Re: [POLL] A Tough Poll To Conduct (or vote in):

I know/suspect you are busy, Fyron. I was hoping you would be as interested to see if my rating deserved my ability as much as I wanted to see if your knowledge matched your ability. So, the invitation stands...just find some time and post the acceptance.

To make other comments...I don't think the idea of KOTH or a Ratings system is silly (did you say that?). I think, given 15-20 games or so, the Ratings system portrays a bit of reality in SE4 ability. As to my own rating, I suspect it is a bit inflated due to me having the opportunity to get some wins against some players with lesser ability. After all, I see that I have lost to players whom I think are very good players each time I have played them. Hence my challenge (in another thread) to get a team against me and my partner whose rating is close in numerical summary.

Re: [POLL] A Tough Poll To Conduct (or vote in):

Since I started this thread...I will add to the "stir" a bit.

Rex and Asmala: Iron! Solid! Steady! (perhaps a few surprises but straight-forward play...till gambling is needed... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif )

Primitive: Steamroller! Watch out! (a bit vulnerable in the "endgame")

Geoschmo: Danger! Watch out! (willing to take a look at the opponent and decide to try something unconventional)

Who would I like to play with? Well, besides my current challenge involving Alneyan...whom I consider as calculating as Asmala but a bit more chancy (hehe), my choice is Primitive. Not sure what it would be like to work with him...but I'm sure it would be a rollercoaster! Second choice? Geoschmo. For a rock-steady game...Lord Chane (who, I swear, has a SE4 rating less that what he deserves).

It seems this poll should have included an option for "I don't feel I have the expierence to cast a vote, but I want to see the results". Then again, perhaps it only seems that way to me beucase that's the position I'm in. An option like that might not be appropriate.
