Re: OpenRPG help, please.

Spell Resistance is a Resistance to magic that allows to try to resist to some spells. (It should also depend on the kind of spell cast) For a caster to bypass this Resistance, a roll of (1d20)+caster level is required, and the result should be equal or higher than the Spell Resistance of the target. In short, Spell Resistance roughly works like AC for magical attacks, and can be granted by spells, items and to monsters.

Saving Throws is a chance given to a character to escape an attack, such as dragon breath or something along these lines. There are three categories, which are Reflex, Will and Fortitude, respectively based on Dexterity, Wisdom and Constitution. The roll is done with a d20, your bonus in the linked ability plus a bonus from your class and your level. (A level 20 player with a class able to defend itself well will have +12 to her saving throws) The effects of succeeding in a saving throw may depend on the attack which caused the saving throw as well.

Hopefully it will help you, and I even tried to look up in the correct source rather than in my old memories of D&D2 games.

thanks. one problem still remains, the spell save i was talking about is a vague, almost hidden addition just under spells, not one of the three saves on front.

nobody here knows OpenRPG? *see beginning*

Once I installed Python and OpenRPG, I discovered that it has two "start" files. If you don't want a MS-DOS box appearing when you start this application, use the "start" without the console.

This link leads to a patch that would add plug-in support to Version 1.6.1 of OpenRPG.(Already includes some plug-ins, and it appears they can be toggled on and off by the GM.)

This may be of use. It appears to be a character generation program capable of using the d20 and D&D 3.5 rules. It also seems to be capable of using templates and saving character information.

It could be the difficulty for your targets to resist your spells, as it is a DC if I read the sheet well. That is, it could be your bonus making your own spells harder to resist by a saving throw. But that doesn't seem too likely.

I am currently having a look at OpenRPG. (Once I figure out how it works that is)

I was involved in something simular that ran for six months before dying. To many cheaters, poor administrators, and to much work. I would rather just play SEIV.

Re: OpenRPG help, please.

It takes some time for the .bat file for the PC Gen program to be finish constructing itself.(After semi-automated extraction of the files to a folder.)

From there, it takes about half-hour to start seeing how to use it correctly.(Though I am still unaware as to how I may add weapon proficiencies to my character, but then again, he is a monk.)

By the way, I believe the source matierial you should use for the PC Gen program is "3.5 RSRD".

In any case, if OpenRPG does not work out, I can probably play the game via AIM.

EDIT: I may have found an alternative to PC Gen. It is called Redblade 3.5e, and from judging what I have done so far, it is more user-friendly.
