I have a proportions single player game that is well into the thousands. I think it might even top Atrocities' 5000 but I'd have to check.

I have a ringworld in my home system which is just a few dozen turns away from completing a cultural centre...

I only play single player, and the longest would be well below 300 turns. The thing is that I always come up with this new great idea for a new component or facility, and when I add it I break the game.
But its awesome. Now I have drone fighters, not just the real drones, and drone tanks, and Assault Infantry (2kt), power armor for infantry (engine coded so you can't use it on tanks) and a gazillion more little twiks.

My next game breaker addition will be more power armors:
1-Power Armor (30% defense bonus, deflects 10 damage)

2-Combat Armor (40% defense, 10% offense (superior targeting equipment http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif ) deflects 15)

3-Assault Armor (50% defense, 20% offense, deflects 20)

I was also thinking of "conventional tanks", something like a 5kt tank that doesn't need any tech, so you can build it from the very begining with a depleted uranium cannon and composite armor.

One thing I don't know if it will work or not its artillery units. I had the idea of making an mobile artillery unit that could have an indirect fire weapon that could reach to a range of 5, but I have my doubts wehther it will work or not.

Would a long range ground weapon fire over the heads of friendly units or does it have to wait until the units on the first row are destroyed to then engage the enemy in close proximity combat?

Yef: I'm not sure how the combat works in any detail- no one is, except The Man himself. (Malfador)

Send in your tweaks to PvK, see if he wants to add them to the next official release of proportions.

I like some of your troop-tweaks, I'd like to see the code. If I ever get around to making my own tweak of proportions, (which will be based around Quarian Rex's excellent Primitive Proprotions) I'd like to include a host of primitive tech troops: for example dirt tech gliders, catapults and riders (think ewoks etc- yub yub), steam tech airships, cavalry and so on.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Weapon range and fire rate has no effect on troops. A troop weapon with range 5 and fire rate 30 is the same as a weapon with range 1 and fire rate 1. Also, shield regeneration, organic armor, and crystaline armor don't work any units (including troops). I'm not sure about emissive armor, but I suspect that it doesn't work either.

Keep in mind that the defense and offense bonuses on your armors will stack with EVERYTHING. 50% is a huge bonus to add on top of ECM, stealth armor and scattering armor...

Do you mean that if I land 100 small troops, which have sensors with offenses +10, and in the same transport are 100 assault infantry, with offense +20, then ALL the units will have offense +30?
Or will the bonus of every single unit stack up to....+6000 . http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

It can't be like that, right?


So range doesn't work. Too bad, I was already thinking of several indirect fire support weapons for artillery units.

Well with troops, I believe that the best bonus that any single troop has in offense is applied to all your troops, and the same with defense. I was thinking more with ships, but even for troops 50% is a big bonus to add to what else you can have...

So you're saying if I have a couple of troop weapons, with stats like this for damage at range:

20 / 10 / 5

25 / 5 / 0

The second example would make a better troop weapon right? Because you're saying that range and firing rate don't matter with troop weapons? Do I have this right, or am I confused again?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Right. Troop weapons are hard coded to always fire at range 1 and fire each turn regardless of what the description says.
