Re: The Gold Demo: A Mixed Blessing

I downloaded the the full 0.99 demo and moved the 0.56 to another directory before installing so it's a clean install. Nobody else has been attacked by their allies? Good for you I guess. I think I'll send the savegame in to MM so they can have a look see.

"I watched an enemy ship fire a Large APB-III (about 40 damage) at a group of 17 small fighters, and the entire group was destroyed! I smell a bug..."

and now I think I've isolated it. A group of units will survive if the damage take is less than the damage capacity of one of the units, but as soon as the first unit is destroyed, the WHOLE GROUP goes with it. Not cool at all.

"Not only do your allies keep offering you the same treaty you already have. They are perfectly ok with bLasting my ships and planets alike while mine don't shoot since we are allied. Result: alot of dead people and ships killed by my so called "allies". Had they only returned fire they would have pulverized the opposition. So my guess is that the AI doesn't realise you are allied even though all the benefits from the alliance (trade) do come through while my forces realise the alliance is in place and thus do not return fire on "allied" ships. Not even when I attack."

I had the same problem a few times until I discovered that often, tactical combat starts with the enemy ship selected and displayed. Enemy ships cannot fire on their own team. The enemy ship was a similar configuration as my own so I didn't notice the change. Just click on your own ship to gain control.

Re: The Gold Demo: A Mixed Blessing

This was in a sim turn game so all combat was strategic by default. Ergo, I had no control of my forces while they turned the other cheek. Which the opposition was happy to smash with rather nasty looking two-by-four I might add.

Started another game, turn based this time, and the problem went away. Strange.

Re: The Gold Demo: A Mixed Blessing

There seem to be a lot of bugs in the demo that were not noticed in the beta forums. I suspect they were introduced in making the changes to convert the beta to a demo. So hopefully the gold Version will not have these problems.

Are the current Bugs that folks are talking about and that I`ve seen playing the "Gold" demo going to be in the CD that ships ?

If so I`m going to be an unhappy Pre Ordering camper...how about it Shrapnel ??

Who knows if you don't report them.

If you have a specific bug please report it to se4@malfador.com. I tis entirely possible that you put the computer in a situation that our testers never did before and thus the problem showed up. If this is the case please send in the savegame, how to recreate the bug, and we will look into it ASAP.
