Re: Problem with demo not starting with Win98SE solved
For those having problems with Voodoo cards
=========================================== I am using Win98SE and a Voodoo 3000 (!) video card (with unofficial drivers). To make Dominions II run after installation i had to do the following: 1. Execute from a DOS prompt "dom2 --bitplanes 8" 2. The screen appears black, then i terminate the program (ALT-CTRL-DELETE & "End Task"). 3. Then execute "dom2 --bitplanes 16 -w" NOTE: If i omit step 1. (using 8bits/pixel mode) the game doesn't run... I am using a window to avoid the "disappearing" cursor problem and i usually add "--res 960 720" or "--res 1024 768". I also noticed that resizing or maximizing the game window causes the game to crash... I'll try to change my SDL.DLL from v1.26 to v1.24 as suggested in a previous post to solve the cursor problem... |
Re: Problem with demo not starting with Win98SE solved
I found one more solution to the unable to start in Win98 or cursor issues. Go into display - advanced - performance and reduce your graphics acceleration by two steps. It really makes things run slowly but it will run.
