Seriously if there was a save and reload feature the whimping newbies would whimp forever , if you know what I mean.

If you dont it means that they will never learn to deal with it and will load load load load and load some more . Yes I do love that nobody is really immortal and can die of the chaos . I like it like that http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Fallout Tactics had a nice feature of having both save-reload feature and being able to switch it off. As always, the key is in the availability of options and customization. As Dominions players, you should appreciate that, right? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Not really, since it makes it easy to get into the habit of relying on a crutch that undermines the gameplay in a subtle but very powerful way, and many players used to lamer games wouldn't learn the intended way to play. When there are many people playing who usually turn back time whenever something bad happens to them, they start giving feedback from their warped perspective, no doubt not admitting how often they use the cheat. Those players will also get less out of the game because they'll find it pretty easy and/or frustrating, likely without understanding why. Etc.

Well, in fact, it's faster to exit the game and make a backup of the savegame folder than it is to wait for most of the games' saving/loading times. I am just constantly surprised by the inflexibility around here. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I like that there's no save/reload in a regular sense, but I'm missing the ability to review battles that happened few turns ago. Often, when I'm preparing to a battle I want to carefully examine opponents actions in a previous battle, which happened earlier. I tried to write down key point in the battles, but it's a bit annoying and often I will not write what I will actually need afterwards. In this case, being able to review past battles would be nice.

It would be nice to be able to see past battles.

At least if you know you'll want to look back at a game state, you can keep a copy of the saved game using the file system.

HJ, I don't think this is a case of being inflexible. Sometimes omission is good. Easily undoing bad events by reverting to saved games is something I dislike in almost every game.
