Not a bad idea. However, I suggest you just play some humans instead! Creativity wins over brute force every time; and I would rather be surprised by ingenuity/genius than crushed by foreseen but indomitable might.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Don't go GUESSING how people spend their time playing this game. I ALREADY play against human opponents when possible... in fact it's what I prefer. Developing one super opponent would definitely be worthwhile to see especially for the multiplayer games.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Another nice thing is that if you have certain people upset about some particular detail, we and the devs don't have to listen to them whine about it so much, since they or someone can make a mod to change it to suit their tastes.

Modding gives people more options to enjoy a game system, and to try out changes and different things, and to express their enthusiasm by adding and sharing options. Yes Dominions has more to discover than most players will ever encounter, and it certainly doesn't need to be modded to be enjoyed. There's little sense in disdaining the option to mod, though. Sort of like saying, "dang, I wish people couldn't make their own sandwiches", or something.

Im working on one that has an Rlyeh/Man/Atlantis alliance starting out boosted. And working one that has Man starting as the leader of the Indeps (kindof) and he starts with scattered castles owned by him all across the lower part of the map (players all start near the top). I could probably finish those two if I stopped play"testing" them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Regarding your idea of balancing the weakpoints of the AI with a superplayer--I'll reiterate: good idea. It should be easy to do. I already have some ideas that would do the trick. I bet a lot of people would like one or two of these. I'll throw something together this weekend for the archive.
