Ive been trying to figure out whether Stone Idols stack with sceptics, and havent come to any conclusions (also because I do not yet understand how the mechanics of (possible) dominion loss really work.

I have, however, re-realized why I am not really a fan of Golden Era: It seems that just about EVERYthing is capital only. Argh how I hate capital-only-reliance! And making sceptics later in the game means schlepping them through your entire empire (well I suppose you could give them Boots of the Plane, but that seems a bit steep), while Stone Idols can be picked up by scouts in labs on province borders.
