Re: Getting a blood economy going
thnx sheap and norfleet.
so if you don't want to go heavy on sc's yourself heavy blood with hordes of vampires seems to be a good choice and/or mages with life drain , petrify and so on. how do sc's do against abominations ? are there any other good ways to defeat sc's expect making your own sc's or the above described solutions ? |
Re: Getting a blood economy going
Undead fodder also helps vs many SCs, since if that SC is relying on life-draining attacks, they are shafted.
Some small helpful tips that no one seems to mention but work for me, but then again I am a newbie: 1. Curse the SC first. 2. Cast Horror Mark on the SC. 3. Cast summon horror(s). 4. Cast some summon undead spells, or have some undead troops with you anyhow. 5. run away (if you want). Curse will eventually slow it down due to the afflictions it will accumulate. Fighting a horror or two per battle alongside the rest of your stuff will also slow it down a bit, or at least guarantee a few afflictions, even if regenerating. Afflcitions add up, even if GoH is up. |

Also, mandragoras are quite survivable thanks to high hps and the fact that countries that get them also have lots of nature magic for mass protection. And as a Last note, A single nation gets mandragoras and manikins very very cheaply... |
Re: Getting a blood economy going
I'd usually avoid common troops, because you'll lose too many of them in the effort ... well, usually it's the SC to catch my troops however.
I prefer to try to go toe-to-toe if I've someone big enough, but if I find myself without SCs (and this happens too often) I'm used to prepare some small thugs that could cripple the SC. Usually I use the 2 nature shields, eye and tangle vine. Fire Bolas is good too to hold him while others try to hit him. Since probably your thugs won't harm him directly for the first round (til usually the eye shield make him totally eyeless so Att 0 Def 0) I use a faithful to have luck, and having 2 misc slot free (usually a Cat Charm to raise defence, it the SC hits you less times he regains less hitpoints and something else depending the situation). Boots of quickness if possibile or Jade Armor, not very useful for the 2 moves/round but for the +3Att&Def. Small thugs could be any knight commander with magic/sacred with bless, and something pretty sacrificable costing only gold. They should be combined with an army ready to strike once the SCs is crippled (I mean usually without eyes). |
