Unfortunately, I cant do that with a broken demo...

I've got two words for you: Credit Cards.

I will, after a paycheck or two, be able to pay off my (not significant, but unsettling nonetheless) credit card debt, and be able to buy this game. However, I havent reached that point...

Ack. Paying off credit card debt is Un-American! You're supposed to rack up thousands (tens of thousands is even better) of dollars of debt, then declare bankruptcy, sticking it to all other credit card Users (those who haven't yet figured out how this pyramid scheme is supposed to work) in the form of higher interest and fees. Or, if you are one of those rare people with a conscience and sense of personal responsibility (shame on you), remain in debt up to your eyebrows for life, paying obscene amounts of interest all the while. Debt makes the economy work. After all, if it's good for the U.S. government, it must be good for individual citizens too, right?

Just remember: debit cards and cash are a communist plot, and tools of the devil.

I've located a copy of the original, v2.02 demo, in case anyone's interested in my making it available. I've had no luck finding the v2.06 demo.

I fail to understand why IW hasn't updated the demo to the 2.12 level. It's bad PR to have a demo out there with a known, major bug such as a totally broken theme; a bug that doesn't exist in any other Version except 2.08.

I used 2.02 to test the game, which I thought was the only one on the main Shrapnel page.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">The demo Version on Shrapnel's site is 2.08 (the Version with a broken Utgard theme). The 2.02 and 2.06 demos don't have that particular bug, though of course they have (plenty of) other bugs that have since been fixed.

Yea, you know, I downloaded this a few months ago, so that would probably make sense why I have 2.02. I actually had put it down because of complexity and a lack of understanding what was going on but picked it back up after checking out the forums. Am I glad I did. Awesome game.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">If nothing else, you'd think they'd update the demo to hide the broken theme, but Illwinter doesn't seem to believe in putting out tiny incremental releases that simply fix a glaring bug without adding anything else.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes, I noticed that. IW found the bug (and cure) within minutes of 2.08's release, yet it took them 2 months to come out with the fix in the form of the 2.11 patch. Sigh. IW could learn a few things from Blizzard, Stardock, Panther Games, and even Sony with regards to the usefulness of quick fixes. (Well, so long as they don't pick up any of Sony's monumentally bad customer service habits while they're at it.)
