At the moment I don't like it. Its all new and confusing. In a month or so I guess I'll get used to it. Putting old stuff first is annoying. In the joke thread theres at least 60 pages. I gave up trying to get to the end to see new stuff. I just posted in "Flash Gordon" and it forces you to look at your post before posting it. Fine, but all the preview showed was the quote and not my stuff. I had to accept not sure if what I wrote would be posted.

edit: but I just discovered I can turn off preview.

Re: wow what a change

We have another problem. ALL of our links that have ever been included in any of our threads are all worthless now. That means the strategy threas, new member thread, FAQ thread all of them are now filled with dead links. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

The price of change.

Hmm... don't call me negative Dutchie, but I don't like the forum the way it is now. I like the old form. But change must be, I'll get used to it.
There are two things bothering me, the one Renegade13 also mentioned, the loading of the Posts in reverse. This is really sucky, sucky.
And the second thing is the strange error I get when I open the page. I think it has something to do with a popup window. I have a popup suppessor, so it might be that. I don't know af any way to couter this. This is the message I get:
"SymRealWinOpen" is not defined. And then he askes me if I would like to correct this. This is always some text in the makeup of the window I'm looking at, so I can't change it. Any thoughts?

I'm sure I'll get over the shock of the new forum within this year... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I liked the old (reverse) order better...

Also, why do the Posts take up so much space on the screen now? There's a lot of blank space above and below the text that we post, so that less information is displayed at any time on the screen...

And why is the title at the top "INTEL FORUMS INTEL FORUMS"? ...wait, now it's OK.

Re: wow what a change

Couple items that I find annoying (one of which Fyron already mentioned):

1. Horizontal sizing seems off on the tables. Using Moz 1.7.2 at 1024x768 and about 25% of the right side of Posts are 'offscreen' ... e.g. have to slide the horizontal bar right.

2. Date format. You got rid of DDMMMYY. Pet peeve :)

3. Reply method: I don't like the new threaded model. Like the flat single topic model much better. While the view is optional, replying isn't. To reply to the main topic, you have to hit 'reply' on the first post. If you hit reply on a later reply (say the Last post in the current thread), it ends up threaded. Would prefer a flat thread. New system seems like a step backwards to the pre-UBB cgi Boards of the early / mid 90's.

Other than that, no issues. Most sites do posting ordering similiar to this so non issue. Never was one for skinning so indifferent about this also. Out of curiosity (maybe I missed the thread) did Shrapnel ever post why they were moving from UBB to UBB Threaded as opposed to just updating UBB or $insert_some_other_BB_here ... was this hardware / cost / or scaling driven?
