Addendum: I ran a good tape through the machine for a few seconds and it cleared it up, so I have a nice copy of it. I'm sorry I don't have any of that newfangled equipment for copying tapes to a movie file.

Easiest way is to just have a TV-in card in your computer. Some video cards have them built in, or you get a separate card. No tapes necessary. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Edit: oh, I gathered the disatisfaction with quicktime was the inability to save the movie.

Nah, they have no choice but to be saved, due to Firefox being set to never play them in the browser. It's more about the overall poor quality of the format and annoyance with Apple trying to ram it down our throats at every chance they get for years... Good thing the encrypted codec format was cracked... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I try to save them but it never lets me. I can copy from my internet directory, but if I try to play them without visiting the website they come from I get sound but no picture.

What browser are you currently using?

My answer would immediately have you decrying microsoft and telling me to change my browser. However before you start the inevitable villification of IE, I am happy with what I have, and any imagined benefits would not be worth the trouble of me changing my browser for what I see as no reason.

No it wouldn't...

Internet Explorer doesn't give you any control over plugins like Quick Time. You could uninstall the official Quick Time plugin and install Media Player Classic as previously mentioned. This may or may not allow for proper saving of .mov files.

Let me apologise then for making assumptions, I sometimes get the impression people are opposed to IE (and any Microsoft product) on principle. I just realised that of course Quicktime is an apple product, so obviously thats not the issue. I have both Quicktime and Media player incidentally.

Read the commentary, that sums it all up for me.

For me this year I want to go into the theather cold turkey, so to speak. I hope(notice the word 'hope'.) I don't see any trailers this time a round. I do not want to even see pictures from the movie, let alone a movie trailer. But, I do hope everyone likes the sneak peak!

Media Player Classic, or Windows Media Player? MPC trumps both hands down in terms of what it can play... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I am, of course, opposed to IE in principle, but that is mostly because it, along with Outlook, is the major cause of the spread of viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, and other malware... Also because it still does not support the web standards for HTML, CSS, and various other Languages. Nothing to do with it being a Microsoft product per se.
