Because... well, anyone can put anything there right now. Like a certain 775MB video that's on there.

If I did that, all Users would also have to run a client that supports password-protected trackers...

Hmmm... well, might want to disable uploading then, and just have people email the .torrents to you. Or move the tracking page with upload to a different port, and create an entrance page that is password protected. Have a seperate one with no pass/no upload.
