Re: Gem usage and performing ritual spells
Yep, all those defenses can work. Etherealness doesn't, since it doesn't work against magic weapons.

Re: Gem usage and performing ritual spells
With most globals, it wouldn't matter when gem usage occurs: let's say your mage casts Mother Oak using 100 nature gems. Fires From Afar kills the mage - Mother Oak goes poof, because all globals end when the caster is killed. (Not sure if an immortal also loses its globals.) |
Re: Gem usage and performing ritual spells
pretenders don't lose their globals as they can be called back and aren't truly dead (though there then was a bug where these globals would persist even after the god was permanently vanquished). I very much doubt any immortal would lose their globals either (if killed in friendly dominion) - after all, on the battle results summary, they aren't listed as killed...
also, i would personally advise you rename any normal mage that has cast a global - otherwise I forget and send them into battle... ;p |
Re: Gem usage and performing ritual spells
Interesting...
A none-immortal pretender of mine died once (and got turned into a wight-mage) and all of his globals got *poof*ed |

Seems like a fair risk to me, personally, but I can understand being bummed about it. PvK |

About the gem loss issue : I don't think it requires to be changed, as some said you can consider that the gem cost is spent in advance, and unless you protect your mages you've to run the risk ! |
Re: Gem usage and performing ritual spells
well, that's what i originally thought, but i've had to contend w/ globals hanging around after i've wasted the casting pretender.
