Re: OT: Drugs....

Been there, Done that, trying to forget it all. For the most part, I'd agree with GP. Made some pretty impressive memories and now have some really neat stories to relate to others, but on the whole a very bad part of my life. Unlike others here, I DID have a serious problem for about 6 months. Altogther I spend 2 or 3 years on the wrong road of life. And it's really really hard to get off that road after a short while.

I see a lot of my friends who are still on that road or are starting on it and I try to warn them but unfortunatly, they don't listen. There was a small group of us who all decided we'd had enough of spending an insane amount of money (once spent $3000 in 2 days myself!!) and we all decided to quit together. If we hadn't I don't know if any of us could have. It was hard.

I had to keep busy somehow so I got myself 4 jobs. 2 were full time, one part time and the other filled in where I wasn't working. 16 hours every day except for Monday's where I only worked 8.

On the otherhand, I gained IMO some unique skills. I have now developed the ability to Detect Addtictions. After a short time, I can now tell if someone is having an addiction to something (drugs, alcholhe or other) because I know what the signs are. In some cases, I can actully tell what the drugs are because of physical manafestations. eg: cocaine addicts skin begins to look almost transparent.

Didn't mean to spew all that, but hey you asked for it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I only answered Question 1.. No (Question 2 is a trick question kind of like "Have you stoped beating your wife?" if you andwer yes it implies you 'did' and if you anwser no it implies you are 'still'. A no win situation)

Oops...now that I look at that question I see that you are totally right. I guess the best answer for #2 if you've never done drugs would be "nope". At least, that's what I'm assuming people will do. Or just skip it, as you did http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Well got drunk twice if that counts as a (drug)I would NEVER drink again after time number two where bad things happened.
I'm 17 so not only is it illegal for me in the first place which made getting drunk DUMBER then normal since I'm not a drinker I downed a coffee mug full of burbone streight up, with no food or anything else in my stomach heh BAAAAD TIMES. Worst part is I have a bad gag reflex so I couldn't throw any of that crap in my stomach up I just kept having churning nausea until I got a brief spout of diahrea (SP?) where I was wishing that I had just thrown up lol.

Either way the headache is also NOT worth it in the morning I tell yah, ouch. Well other then those there are dozens of reasons I can give for never getting drunk or doing drugs EVER again.
(not to mention I think alcohol tastes like fermented chicken piss if ever there was one.)

Nah, you just had cheap bourbon http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Never had the hangover nastiness, but then again the group I drink with (NEVER alone), all of us go for the better quality over low price. The one time I got sick was because the Russians were very persuasive (a "shot" is really, "exhale, down one shot, grab another, down that, wait about five seconds, then stick some fruit in your mouth") about "just one more drink", and I drank far too much. A liter of Grey Goose, plus some gin before hand, between three people. And the few times I have had the cheap stuff, it was bad enough that I didn't drink much unless it was VERY mixed.

But really, in the US it's better to lay off all that, at least until you're almost at 21. Until then, it's a lot harder to get anything worth drinking (read: will not make you sick, and is actually enjoyable). Plus most of the people you would be drinking with will do insanely stupid and dangerous things. As the age goes up, there is (usually) a bit more responsibility, and a few people willing to stay (relatively) sober to keep things under control. Ask the Vikings for more details about a safe, enjoyable drinking experience, should the occasion arise in the future http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

If it's classified as a narcotic or controlled substance, I've probably done it. And probably done too much as well. I haven't touched any of the 'hard' stuff in the Last 4 years, but I smoke, both tobacco and FAR less frequently, cannabis (hash or weed), and of course go out for a few drinks every now and then. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of alcohol, and only really drink because I live in Dublin and it's just part of the culture. There really isn't anything else to do after 6pm on a Friday or Saturday but head out to the pub with your friends. But I find the enjoyment one gets from alcohol is too often not worth the after-effects. To be sure there's been a few nights where I've staggered home absolutely twisted, woken up the next morning feeling as if I'd stood a bit to close to an atomic bLast, but still thought it was worth it. Other times I've woken up with a bit of a dry mouth and a slight headache and thought it wasn't worth it.
I've been on the losing end of a battle with cigarettes since the beginning of the year when I resloved to quit, but I have no doubt I'll succeed eventually.
I guess that answers questions 1 & 2, which only leaves 3. Regrets? None. Not a single one. I might look back and think 'I could have handled that situation a bit better', but I don't regret anything I took, or anything I did. I know I've probably knocked a good few years off my life, but frankly I don't care. All the crazy things I did when leading that lifestyle has made me who I am, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. And I'd really rather be able to say, "I've been there, I've done that, and I know really not a great idea," rather than, "I've never done it but I'm told it's not a great idea."
Plus I figure, when I have a son/daughter, and he gets to a certain age, I can sit him down and say, "I've done them all son, and I probably won't be around to see you finish univercity because of it." And if that doesn't keep the little blighter on the straight and narrow, I don't know what will.

Nah Will actually I've had more then just bourbon it's just the bourbon made me drunk the other stuff didn' (because I didn't down a coffee mug full heh) but all alcohol tastes terrible to me so far I mean I've had a bunch of different types and it's all nasty on my taste buds.

Re: OT: Drugs....

Personally, not that I smoke it, but I do believe that "pot" should be legal to buy, but restricted as alcohol is. It should be ok to grow in your own home, so long as you do not sell it without a license or permit.

It was legal for a very long time and even though I know many people think it is bad, it really is not. If anything it will improve the economy because everyone who uses it will eventually get the munchies and head for nearest burger joint or 7-11.

I will say though, that POT does effect people That commerical where the guy is down in a basement smoking pot with a friend and he says that POT has never effected him. Then you hear his mom yell at him to take out the trash. I know first hand that that is true. I can point to at least eight people I know that smoke on a regular bases who would qualify as 30 something pot retards.

Pot does make you stupid, lazy, and fat. But hey, if you want to enjoy it, by all means, I say make it legal and let people make the choice for themselfs if they want to use it or not.

Additionally, at a bare minimum, it does need to be legalized for medical use. PERIOD. No except to this.

Right now they do not want it legal for medical use because the drug companies would loose money. We all know this, and if there is one thing I hate more than I hate insurance companies, its dirty politics when it comes to helping people live a better life who would otherwise not.

Coffee smells like sewar water to me. We have an open sewar on this street. I've smelled both, and there's little difference.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

As for the rest, nope to them too.
