Re: Hey, this thing\'s starting to look like a mode
Well it sounds like you guys either don't have DirectX installed, or you have an old Version... do you have Version 9.0c (the Summer 2004 update Version)?
Sorry for all your trouble just to see some spinning teapots! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Hopefully I'll have more features soon... |
Re: Hey, this thing\'s starting to look like a mode
Aha!
I found the problem! When you install DirectX, you have to use the command-line option /InstallManagedDX on the installer! Otherwise Microsoft assumes you're not interested in running .NET DirectX applications and doesn't install support for them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif BTW, when I say the installer, I mean the dxsetup.exe that you get after extracting the initial self-extracting archive. Try downloading the program again, too... now you can move the most recently created shape around by using the Translate menu options... currently Screen coordinates are not implemented, though, and Local and World do the same thing since I haven't added object rotation (just camera orbiting)... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |

Give me some real world stats, 'cause I suspect none of that is true. The .NET Framework has a built-in security system, which prevents untrusted code (stuff from the internet) from using certain system resources (reg keys, read/write access to HD, etc). The Java Run-time Environment runs code in a protected sandbox (which has admittedly been patched recently for a potential breach). The #1 method for viruses to run is with the IA-32 instruction set. Think about it. |
