I could use the balance mod to create the map. That way there are lot's of choice planets to use for remote mining.
I would not mind allowing you to recolonize glassed homeworlds. I'm not sure the guy who glassed it would give you the chance though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif On the other hand I toyed with the idea of making it a mod game and removing colony tech, allowing you to fleet with bases, making remote mining not reduce planet value, and making the space yard component smaller, so you can get those remote bases setup sooner. Stellar manip would be on, so you could use warp openers. Creating a ringworld to use for remote mining? 48 hour turns would be the absolute maximum I'd want if I were playing in it. I prefer 24 personally, but will set it up for 48.

I thought you could only remote mine moons. Not planets. If that is so, then the Balance mod planets would do no good. If not, then I guess I've never remote mined a planet (LOL)...just moons.

You can remote mine a planet, just not if it has a colony on it.
