I wouldn't be surprised if Ebart was pulling that kind of stuff. I never trust a host with prices under 10 bucks a months.

Avatars load fine for me (even after clearing browser cache). Seems that it might just be you.

I gotta wonder, how does a Java IRC client manage to bring down a webserver.. Java is client-side after all. O.o

jIRC clients usually connect through the server they're hosted on, AFAIK.
