I actually enjoyed Mortal Kombat. Mainly for the sountrack, flashy colors, and neat visuals.

The fight coreogrophy was only slightly above average for hollywood (which means is sucked) and the acting and plot was hammy. but it was fun, and i think it sounded good.

but for truely oscar worthy video game movies, how could you have forgoten Wing Commander?

Seriously though, Final Fantasy was a pretty film, even if a bit abstract for my taste.

I think that most people on the forum would agree that "Super Mario Brothers" and "Street Fighter" were probably overlooked in their respective years by the Oscars.

Seriously, videogame - movie conversions are an attempt to strike while the iron is hot and cash in on a successful series (book, game, toy). Hey, if I could, I would too. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Is anyone else thinking that we should all pool our resources and make a SE based movie?? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

I'm looking forward to SE5 allowing you to export combat replays to AVI or some other video format. Then we'll have gigs worth of footage in no time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.

Original DOOM, not the new one as it sucked horribly.

I will strangle you with a cat if you dare say that Doom3 isn't an amazing game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Wow, yet another movie based on a video game. Should be an excellent movie. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

From what i've read on the Doom movie early last year, they've scaled it back due to threats from christian conservative groups and anti-game violence groups. Since the game was tied to the Columbine fiasco, and features a ton of satanic overtones, no studio was willing to touch the first couple of scripts until it was 'cleaned up' and 'sanitized' for more moral audiences.

What I find humorous about the whole thing is that even if they kept the satanic and violence, most of the people objecting to it wouldn't see it. And even now, most still won't see it.

Im probably going to go see it, despite all the stupid changes they've made. I just wish it was the way it is supposed to be, with demons and without stupid mutation viruses.

I would have rather they had chosen Vin Deasel but The Rock will do as well. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
