I'm not aware of a sequal to the book. A sequal to the movie is supposedly in the works.

Personally I thought the Starship Troopers book sucked. Whoever tried to write had obviously never seen the film, or wasn't paying attention.

I'm new to the forum, so I missed the earlier SST discussions (darn!). SST 1 is probably my second favorite sci fi comedy of all time (surpassed only recently by "The Day After Tomorrow").

Funniest SST 1 line: "The MI doesn't mint stupid troopers!"

Funniest gadget: The coffee cup asteroid detector (I mean, come on, DR's boobs exerted a greater gravitational pull than that asteroid).

Biggest mistake: Leaving DR out of the shower scene (cost millions at the box office).

I caught SST 2 on cable: lower budget and not as funny, but it still has a couple of bright spots. Kelly Carlson http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif displays her Nip/Tuck body a couple of times, and Brenda Strong (aka Captain Deladier in SST 1) returns as a tough-as-nails infantry sergeant. The MI is still the biggest bunch of ####ups in the known universe http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif , and the bugs are still smarter than humans.

Well that just shows how bad it was. The guy who wrote the book obviously didn't get it all as I said in my first post, so they had to make the film to straighten him out. Hopefully now the film is out, ppl will forget about the book.

I hate to say this, but I never read starship troopers. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Nor did I read Battlefield Earth and we all know how that movie turned out. I did however read the Black Hole as my first big book without pictures, and I did that in the fifth grade.

AT, I totally recommend Starship Troopers. As said before, it's nothing like the movie so just forget about what you saw in the movie. Starship Troopers was recommended to me in grade school. It was my first science fiction book. The rest is history.

Regarding the Black Hole... I read a book called that and it was made into that (Disney?) movie. Are we talking about the same one? Where the mad scientist has a ship on the edge of a black hole. The mad scientist has figured out how to shield his ship from gravity and he has transformed all his human crew into zombie-like servants?
