98 is better than ME. 2k is the best of all of the Windows versions. Far cheaper than XP.

I am getting an access violation 004A478 in Mod SE4EXE Read address FFFFFF...I think I had this before but I have had to wipe my drive and was W/O SE for about 6 months can use any help.

Thanks

If it is happening during game turn, try this, put all of the players on manual and run the turns for them. This should clear up the AVE.

I loathe windows millenium... Had to reformat and install it on a computer, and was nearly impossible to get all the drivers and stuff back on.

Didn't have any real problems with ME, still prefer 98SE, but ME didn't seem any worse. Bit more reliable in normal operation but the crashes were worse. Totally subjective mind.

I switched ME for XP. But I had alot of old DOS games and such that I wanted to run which ME didnt seem to like, and I didnt feel like moving up to a Win2k server.

as I said, I can not "make" it happen just dose and then I must exit and reboot to be sure it will not pop up in the next few turns.
Thanks for all the help all!...will be counting pennies for XP or 2000....may be some time http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I have Windows ME but I have never had that particular error come up. I have had plenty of other kinds of crashes and problems, though.
